      You are getting some information wrong about Walt Disney and Unions. Walt Disney's animators union was facing a hostile takeover from The Conference of Studio Unions led by Herb Sorrell a PROVEN FRONT for The Communist Party FUNDED by The Soviet Union. This was proven with the Kollof Intercepts and KGB Archives abtained after the fall of The Soviet Union. Disney Animators went to Walt to complain directly about what was happening. The Animators Disney exposed at the H.U.A.C were communist that tried to takeover the animators union already in place.

      You do know the studios/producers are the ones that have final say on those big blockbusters, right..? Especially with scripts. It doesn’t matter if a writer objects or pushes back, the producer will (and often do) fire writers if they don’t put what they want in the script. That’s why blockbusters often have many writers (credited and uncredited).

    • @janet6421
      @janet6421 Год назад +23

      Infotainment is dramatized real education. Things like Schoolhouse Rock or Bill Nye the science guy. (yes, I am old now) Propaganda teaches opinions and identity politics. Things like, "our country is the best" or "this ethnicity is the cause of all your problems" are common topics for propaganda.

    • @BennieWoodell
      @BennieWoodell Год назад +12

      Hollywood has always done "infotainment" as you call it, the difference is up until recently, the writers knew the art of subtlety. The messages they wanted to get across were there, but you had to actually read into it, but if you just wanted to sit back with some popcorn and enjoy the show, you could do that as well without feeling like you were getting preached to. I agree with you that I hope we can get writers and filmmakers back into Hollywood who don't want to hit the nail on the head, but understand how to weave a story that is first and foremost entertaining, with messages that aren't in your face but are there for those looking for it.

    People keep overlooking a hugely important point when it comes to AI-generated works:
    In the U.S., any work created by an AI program CANNOT be copyrighted. ONLY works created by a human are eligible for copyright protection. The U.S. Copyright Office has already refused to register works created by AI, and in the case of a graphic novel written by a person but using AI-generated art, copyright was granted for the writing but NOT for the artwork since it was not created by a human.
    Remember, Hollywood LOVES its copyright protection. That protection is how it makes money, since it is what allows it to exclusively profit from a work for the length of the copyright protection term.

    What gets me is the fact that many writers have inserted themselves into shows as producers and show runners over the years (how else did JJ Abrams end up producing shows? *hint hint*), which means you have a kind of incestuous situation going on here.
    They scream about how they aren’t being paid enough as writers, yet they pull down up to $10,000 a week as one of the three dozen co-executive producers on a given show nowadays (none of whom add to the watchability of these shows).
    These same types go into strike as writers completely forgetting their other responsibilities as producers (which have NOTHING to do with writing). To me, it’s nothing more than a modern-day shell game, those involved being on both sides of the table.
    So yeah- this strike will not be like the one in 2007 (which I just-barely survived as below-the-line crew). This one will be much MUCH worse.

    • @squirrel_killer-
      @squirrel_killer- Год назад +3

      It is illegal to fire them for a "protected" strike. The issue is, you can still fire them for other reasons. This is a case of "other reasons". For example you can be fired due to an on going sexual harassment investigation if it started before the strike, and it continued into the strike. Or if your job was terminated regardless of the strike, such as preplanned downsizing, the loss of positions due to the strike causing sufficient loss of work or finances, drop in demand for a position, or because you were under a contract that expired anyways (never strike before your contract expires), an external contract being up and not renewed reducing positions, or if you had a contract that specified non-union duties you failed to perform (in this case you strike on part of your job, but not other parts. Effectively going to "work by rule" doing the bare minimum required for your other responsibilities)
      A strike can also be unprotected, such as if you strike for illegitimate reasons (based on certain laws), for too long, or if you strike despite a union agreement not to or without enough union support. In that case perfectly legal to fire everyone for striking.
      Showrunner producer-writers are being told "you can refuse to write, but you have to do the non-writer part of your job".
