Katrina & Sandy were all over the news. This, it's like crickets. I do not understand.
It could be b/c this section in N.C. -- the western edge seems to be nothing but a free range playground for tourism from everywhere else. I live here not far from the Tenn. state line, in the most remote section.. The traffic from gawkers and vacationers holds the only pennies available to locals. So you better be set up well to set up a tourist attraction if you want to live here. It wasn't always this way, only after the government started buying out and subsidizing carpet bagging from the rest of the country who enjoyed the amenities available to them and their localities. I am 68, and I remember before the local farm communities that were once here. The worst of it is that tourists place no consequence on the struggles the traffic places on the local populations who live here or their problems getting food, work, or any of the things they enjoy in their localities. We are very easy to overlook. Just like East Palestine, Springfield, the border, Hawaii, and everywhere else that is treated as an unimportant section of the country.

Asheville is in the mountains not on a western coast. My son lives in Morganton, 40 miles southeast of Asheville, and said people were walking on the Interstate todaty. How desperate would you have to be to walk out. These people need help.

You cannot imagine how devastating this is. The pictures are bad but the reality is even worse. As people I know have no power, ( praise God ours just came back on), they are on wells and have bottled water stored but not enough for the length of time this may last. Food and gas are scarce in several counties due to some roads being impassible. These are hard working people who the president and VP can’t seem to be bothered to interrupt their lives for. Get off the beach and at least act like you’re doing the job you’re being paid to do. Kamala obviously you don’t care at all - just like the border.

I see that you haven’t heard about this because you didn’t mention eastern TN. Or SW VA. We had 3 dams fail in TN. Many towns are no longer there. People are missing. People are trapped because the roads are gone. They have no food, water or electricity. I know everyone is focusing on Asheville but there are many areas that are worse off. I hope the media will start covering this disaster in eastern TN with the coverage it deserves.
This is actually Lake Lure NC however it is the area which connects to Chimney Rock NC via the lake, Broad River and multiple creeks. This the place Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter spent their honeymoon. In fact the historic Lake Lure Inn, where they stayed is mere yards away from the Chimney Rock Town Hall. It is all historical. It is Rutherford County. The foothills of the Blue Ridge of Buncombe County (Asheville), Henderson County (Hendersonville), Transylvania County (Brevard), Haywood County (Canton). This is where I was born and raised, worked, went to school, and played in and around all of these areas of WNC. WNC has always been a Blue Ridge Beauty...and we will be again❤

My sister is currently stuck in Asheville, North Carolina. The employees of the hotels that she manages there are now living out of the hotel by the grace of the hotel owners. These people have lost everything and my sister is not sure when she’s going to be able to return to Texas where she lives. There has been very little to no response by National Guard, Red Cross or FEMA and almost all of the help that is coming is from private groups and churches. So ridiculous. They wouldn’t even have cell phone communication if it weren’t for Elon Musk doing what he did yesterday to help get cell phones back up and running in the area. The Biltmore Village area, and Asheville, are destroyed. It looks like a war zone. So as a secondary witness, as an extension of my sister, where is the help? Why isn’t this being talked about? You think that if they wanted to win an election, they’d be the first on the scene…

A man did die and his wife is in hospital there in SC. They lived in same are my daughter lives in. Son in law was cutting up trees and pulling them out with his truck so that emergency vehicles could get in to get man and woman out where tree had fallen on their home.
Sadly, multiple deaths now being reported out of SC. Especially the dependent elderly needing oxygen. So sad. I am appalled at the lack of federal government response.
I live in upper Greenville County just 30 min. from my kids and grandkids are in Hendersonville and with whom I'm staying with due to the devastion of my own neighborhood with those 100 year old Oak trees. I road the storm out on my front porch hunkered over my dog praying that they would be able to find my body if my own centennial oak in the backyard took out my house. It was all I could think to do was to get the furthest point away frim the massive tree that I thought would surely come down. It was shear terror for 5 hours. The wind gusts of 70 mph+ lasted forever. I listened for hours at the sound of massive trees and power lines were snapped in two in the dark as Helene roared right on top of us. My basement where I had entertainment area/laundry, etc. has 4" water in it growing mold now. There's no power to get the water out with. I've not seen utter devastion like this since Hugo, which I also survived. Count every blessing you have every day you're alive. Love and hug your family. You never know how fast you can lose it all.
I just drove I-10 thru Florida today, there is about 25 miles of trees down along the highway! How wide was Helene? I couldn’t believe how many trees were down and for how far! Saw lots of help heading East on I-10, I hope and pray North Carolina, South Carolina & Georgia are getting the help they need!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I live in North Carolina and I didn't even know there was a hurricane coming. This country knows when a hurricane is coming because it's all anybody talks about a couple of weeks before it hits. And it blew my mind after this happened. The devastation that this storm caused you hear very little about it. I can't even describe how. Unbelievable. It is in this state alone. The mountains in Western North Carolina are absolutely devastated. People up in the mountains don't have flood insurance. Just imagine the vast majority of us. The only source of wealth that we have is our home. It's basically like ours backup. If all else fails, we can always sell our house and have some income. There are thousands of people who have lost everything. People's homes up on the side of a mountain who thought they were never going to get flooded or washed away in mudslides. Businesses and people's cars just washed down the river. There are small towns in the mountains here that are gone. All of the buildings are disintegrated and floating in the lake downstream. And you hear hardly a peep. This one has me baffled.

My cousin lives at the top of one of those mountains, she said the roads are either blocked or washed out… they have to have food & supplies air dropped to them. Thankfully they’re ok. We’re in Augusta, GA, different parts are slowly getting power back. Richmond County had to also shut their water off. There are parts that literally look like a war zone … trees & power lines down every where… I have never heard wind like we did when Helene was coming through… the trees snapping everywhere & not knowing where they were coming down in the blackness.. you could hear them hitting something… very scary… it will be months before it’s all cleaned up.., the devastation.. the losses… I commend GA Power for all of their hard work… to our first responders & our communities… and for Gods grace for keeping us safe and living!

I’m in Marshall, NC and our community is absolutely devastated. Entire towns have been swept away in Western NC and the damage is catastrophic. I have friends in other states who have started reaching out to check on us - their news sources are just now getting this info to them (5 days in). We have a really strong sense of family and community here and everyone is helping where they can ❤️

It hit us on Thursday and we still don’t have electric, water. Many can’t communicate with no cell service. Food shelves are increasing becoming empty. We’ve had nothing fresh since Friday.
Everything in the way of help has been neighbors. Yesterday we’ve seen helicopters doing drop offs but it’s the locals giving coordinates and making the connection. Heavy duty equipment to clear roads for passage was done for locals.
I don’t t want to make this political because so many here are suffering and in need of basics for survival. We still have missing persons in the 100’s if not thousands. We have yet to know the magnitude of the loss. We do know it’s massive.
As a country from grass roots and loving its people, I can only hope we put our big boy pants on, stop playing games with peoples lives and future and pull together to get these hypocrites out of office. They hate America and they hate the people. They only care about their optics and holding onto power any way they can.
This should be the wake up call to who’s for us. Because if they’re not for us the only reasonable conclusion is they are against us. Who are they? The corrupted deep state crooked, lying 🤥hypocrites 😡 that call themselves democratic and true lovers of this country🤮

I live in South Carolina and we have not seen any help, no power since 3:00 am Saturday morning, no water, we have broken electrical lines in our yard and in the road.Trees uprooted all over my yard. We went 2 days not being able to get out because of trees in the road both ways! Over 100 dead and over 600 missing . Pray for Florida,Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee

Our neighborhood is situated on the Saluda river which flooded our neighborhood on top of what looks like a hundred+ trees came down, some killing the residents. No power, no cell at times, no internet, no wifi, no help. Only our small little fire dept. doing what they can. Sad! 😢

I saw a convoy of electric trucks heading north in SC on I95 this morning. That was such a great site to see. I knew they were heading to Asheville and neighboring cities. Pray for America. We need change damnit
The American people are doing what the American people do when devastation hits. The American Cajun Navy boots on the ground within 24 hours of the end of the storm well ahead of the Feds. They brought in at least two Starlink vans to help with the communications issue....ooops 5G towers down, lot of good they did. Convoys of power company trucks, not just from the northeast but from Canada as well, to help to start clearing roads and repairing power lines, ambulances and volunteers. There are pack mule teams loading up to get supplies in to super hard to reach areas. Helicopters need places to land so calls have been put out for people to mark safe landing spots. So much so that some places have requested 24 hour hold until they find where items are needed. People volunteering their property for neighbors to use for themselves and their animals. Politics gets put on the back burner when there are neighbors in need. This clean up is going to take a long long time. Not another American dollar should go to foreign lands until these devastated states look like nothing has happened!

Asheville is completely decimated. I don’t know how they’ll recover or when they’ll recover, I don’t know what’s taking our so-called governor Cooper so long to get help out that way but he’s a democrat.
