I just wanted to thank you for the instruction and the commentary. I just picked up one of these as my daughter's first car (her choice) and found the dealer had left the spare on the back deck. Having worked with this setup before, I figured no problem putting it back underneath. After a while, I figured I *had* to be doing something wrong so I came inside, searched and found this video. By about 3 minutes in I realized, "Nope. I'm doing it exactly right" - right down to the same colorful words and constant complaining. They really need to include that part in the owner's manual. Anyway, thanks again for letting me know I was on the right path.
thanks TheRetro1986. informative, never boring and you got that funny quips on the side every now and then that makes it easy to watch. never boring....
I've had my 06 convertible for about 6 years & luv her. But.... Just discovered my 1st flat tyre & searching about it brought me here. What an idioctic idea !! I've joked before that they designed a great looking car & went 'Ohh shit, we forgot the engine' & shoehorned it in, seems the spare wheel had the same problem. Cheers for posting this Retros Vlogs, was a great help !!!!!!!
I'm a 57 year old grandma and if you think you were having a hard time, you should have been here this morning. I never even looked up the instructions. I could barely lift that "sucker" much less get it in the basket. Thank you for the lesson. Now I will go outside and do it the right way :)
I hate spare tires on the bottom, it took so many turns to lower my spare tire that I just gave up 20 turns in and screwed it back on but this vid was so freakin FUNNY I haven't laughed like that in a long time when you were putting the tire up hahaha
This one I so wanted to put the spare in the back of the car so I would never have to do this again but the spare took up to much room so I said the heck with it and put it back under the car.
Only one actual curse and one blaspheme, not too bad. Frickin' awesome video. Lots of help seeing how to reattach the spare on my 2009 model. Lengthy but the narration makes it worthwhile. Been there.
Thanks! Just bought a PT CRUISER. Didn't come with a spare or kit. Got a spare and jack. I'll just keep it in the hatch area. Thanks! PRAISE GOD! AND TRY TO KEEP IT BETWEEN THE DITCHES!
Yikes! Well now I know where the spare is located. As it is easy to get in and out of this model car, it was popular with elderly drivers. It had to be miserable for such people to deal with the process of changing out a flat tire.
I hate having spare wheels slung under cars. Such a stupid idea. I have 2007 PT Cruiser that's converted to LPG, the LPG tank sits under the car in the space where the spare wheel would fit.
I almost did a few months ago also these stupid things like to come down over time and I finally took the spare out and put it in the back of the car so I would never have to worry about it again.
I think the spare is too small for,I know the front. The nose is so low. I thought about putting a real size tire on the roof but,I'm buying a hitch anyway so I'll wait a minut.
Since this video was made I've moved the tire to the trunk and have cleaned it could not stand it being under the car and trying to change that on a busy highway.
Okay number one I keep Tire plugs on me so you can just basically do the repair right on the car without having remove the tire number two from what this video looks like I would take the tire off the car go get it repaired and come back to the car or plug it and then put it back on the car cuz that thing looks crazy as far as trying to put that thing in there
One of the dumbest ideas. Spare collects gravel and rusts like crazy. Still, better than needing a long tool to hand crank it down like on pickups. I put my impact socket on it and drop it quick. Another good thing is that the same socket to drop it is the lug socket. Pretty fast tire change actually and you don't have to pull all your cargo out to do it. Just makes the spare rust like crazy.
Not sure I have laughed that much in a long time....thanks for the help and the laugh....

I showed a more easy way to do this I seen one guy jack the whole car up in the back to do this.

Great video thanks!! Worst design ever for a spare tire pt cruisers are cheap ha ha. I can't imagine doing this on a highway at night wow...
Now I know how to do it. I think.
The bolt won't move on my pt! I'm looking for how to fix this! Spare is taking up space in the rear. Any suggestions?
buy a chevy,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,problem solved
i saw a couple of pt cruisers with a spare wheel on the trunk. is this an aftermarket mod?
Cable drops are anoying too, and one broke on my truck and lost my spare.
I almost did a few months ago also these stupid things like to come down over time and I finally took the spare out and put it in the back of the car so I would never have to worry about it again.

A city called Chattanooga Tennessee.
I grew up on Fort Rucker Alabama "Army Brat". I don't miss the humidity at all. Tennessee is beautiful.

I think I'll just buy a spare and just keep it in the back of the Cruiser. There is no way I will be able to do this.

I think the spare is too small for,I know the front. The nose is so low. I thought about putting a real size tire on the roof but,I'm buying a hitch anyway so I'll wait a minut.

I hope you don't have to do that the next time but the next time you going to do that if the car up so you have more space to go under it
Since this video was made I've moved the tire to the trunk and have cleaned it could not stand it being under the car and trying to change that on a busy highway.
