Linkin Park has announced that Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara will be the band’s new co-vocalist, with Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer known for his work with G Flip, Illenium, and One OK Rock, joining as the drummer. This announcement was made during a live performance event on Thursday.
Accompanying the news is the release of a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” marking the band’s first new music in seven years. This track will be featured on their upcoming album, “From Zero,” scheduled for release on November 15 via Warner Records. This will be Linkin Park’s first full-length album since 2017’s “One More Light,” which was released prior to the passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
The newly expanded group, which includes Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, and Joe Hahn alongside the new members, will also undertake a six-date arena tour. The tour will include stops in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, and Bogota. The full tour schedule is available below.
On Thursday, Linkin Park performed together for the first time in Los Angeles for a select audience, with fans transported to a studio lot via buses. This performance was live-streamed and will be accessible on Linkin Park’s official online channels for 24 hours.
Shinoda, Delson, Farrell, and Hahn had been quietly reconnecting in recent years, and instead of simply restarting the band, they collaborated with various musicians before finding a special connection with Armstrong and Brittain.
Shinoda commented on the new era of Linkin Park, reflecting on the band’s beginnings and the journey ahead. He expressed excitement about embracing their signature sound while exploring new directions, and emphasized the importance of their new and longtime bandmates, friends, family, and fans in this process.
The new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” is described as embodying Linkin Park’s essence, with Shinoda noting that the band feels invigorated by the new lineup and the fresh, dynamic music they have created.
Pre-sale tickets for the “From Zero” tour will be available to the LP Underground fan club starting September 6, with general sales commencing the following day.
