If you're trying to put an M52 pump on an M50 block, it's not 100% plug and play. You need to widen one of the bolt holes in the pump or the bolt wont line up with the block. Not by much, it's 1-2 mm off so it's easy and theres plenty of material to work with. Just writing for anyone that needs this info.
Your heaven sent!!!!!!! Thank you. I have a bmw 1984 and the darn pump went out . When I dropped the oil pan I discovered the pump brackets were smashed upwards . I wanted to not spent 500 bucks on a new pump and I believe if its metal it is rebuild-able. . I searched for a rebuild video and found yours. I'm going back out now to see if I can get the gear to turn . I just may need another housing. And hopefully the internals are functionable. I turn the car off and havent started it since I heard the grind noise. So thankfully the crank and bearings are good . I'm following your advice step by step..I will pray mine is as good as yours when I'm done! Thank you again Christine
I wasn't able to acquire the plunger and retainer for my rebuild, so I just used the Recoil Spring and Guide Rod out of my old handgun. Gave my engine an extra 20 HP.
Thank you so much for this video... just got a achilles oil pump gear and shaft, but the gear is too wide. Must be a early pump...

You didn't mention anything about the dimple on the stator and dimple on the rotor which is attached ot the shaft. Which way does the dimple on the stator face and which why does the dimple on thr rotor face? Also the alignment between the two? My pump only had on dimple of the shaft which pointed to the inside of the pump and the stators dimple was also pointing to the inside of the pump.
This isn't a nag, I am a professional industrial hygienist (and BMW enthusiast). Dermal contact with solvents can be seen in blood panels . . . and can also cause nerve damage (especially to your hearing). I recommend wearing nitrile gloves as much as possible. Thanks for the video!
Hey, nice video.Just done m62 v8 oil pump, I were surprised theres no gasket between the two parts of oil pump body...would you use RTV there? I guess it's not good idea as it could clog the pump if any excess pieces get inside. Just cleaned mating surfaces and bolted it together with torque wrench...
Great Video & Info - Is the oil pump on an M62TU similar/same or completely different? If I were doing timing chains/guides on a 2000/195K mile M62TU would you recommend an oil pump rebuild, or leave it alone? The car runs like a top, but I know the clock is likely ticking on the guides. Thanks
So after checking on realoem.org, the assembly doesn't come with the part numbers or anything related to the rotor or stater so I can't really give you any information from what we've researched. In the near future, we will be tearing down an m62tu and m60, the oil pumps will be compared then and rebuilt. Rebuilding the oil pump is a little aggressive but makes sense on the 'while you're in there' mentality. The m62 is also quite touchy when it comes to oil pressure. www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=GG83-USA-07-2000-E38-BMW-740i&diagId=11_1533 Here's the link for the oil pump diagram if you can find something we can't
I want to rebuild an S54 oil pump. Do you know if the part number for the spring and the plunger are the same? If noy I could not find these parts on RealOEM any idea?
On the inside and outside of the front cover of my oil pump it is all grey as if there is some sort of coating on it, does anyone know if this is just discolouring of the aluminium and I can sand it with a block and fine grit paper? Or if it's a coating and I should leave it as is?

Hello. Do you know how to remove the inner rotor gear from the pump axle shaft?
Do more stuff!

Last October I rebuilt an m6x pump and didn't use a gasket or rtv, no issues so far ~ 6k miles on it now
Lol, I thought the sleeve was going to pop right in his face when he looked at it.
There might have been a retake because of this! Haha
Hello, is there a repair kit in the states for a diesel engine oil pump (code n47), if so, give me a link. Thanks

When I built a m50 pump whit the gear from an s54 pump, is it only the gear inside the pump I need? Or do I also need the aksel and the outside gears?
It's been awhile, but I think you can run the S54 gear in the m50 housing.
