I was 55 minutes into this video when the first guest stood up to ask his question and mentioned how he was sure thousands upon thousands of people would be watching this video on youtube.
The speech itself was so accurate and articulately described I found myself under the impression it would be widely viewed and contemplated. Then I saw that only about ten thousand people have seen it.
Innovation will require more than access to the knowledge (such as this video).
"If you weren't moved by this speech, your frog is boiled."
Thanks, looking at it right now.
Proving his point.
the "ums" stop after like 5 min when he gets crank in :)
engaging critics - yes! that's the way to raise a voice. we can yell at eachother, what does it matter? we know all this. we must get the naysayers involved, and then prove the superiority of our way. not to the critics themselves, but to their audience.
At 34:30 he refers to a debate and talk about PGP and the spoiler Stewart Baker throws after letting PGP go ahead... "buy nobody here cares about anonymity, do they?"
Well, even if the freedombox works perfectly, they will still have a new curveball to throw out as they lock down (or prohibit) all general purpose computing devices...
"but this device isn't secure, we have to manage it for the safety of the internet"
With the transcript above I created with the embedded youtube procedure, subtitles for the video. The machine translation is a liitle bad. They can be found at
Upload it on this video please, in order to delete mine, which I used to create the subtitles.
Check also the freedombox project....
1:00:00 > How do we build the server network to create our own internet - one that we the people control?
Perhaps a Public Utilities approach; a public owned network served from the cloud, to server/client machines in a P2P network via public wi-fi network (ie. Toronto Public Library Wi-fi).
The guy at the very beginning of the video moves like a robot for the first 2-3 seconds. Looks like somebody flicked his ON switch and he did a quick system diagnostic, loaded his "act like a human" program and went on.

Also, I don't believe he is a robot. Just the way he moves for the first 2-3 seconds is funny.
