Just a fun video I wanted to make because I've been listening to a lot of Gfriend lately, and became interested in Solar from Mamamoo as well. Yuju and Solar are both still relatively new to the industry, have beautiful voices and great potential! Hopefully they, as well as Taeyeon, keep improving and serving us vocal slayage over the years! Don’t hate, appreciate! Discussion is much appreciated, but fanwars and bashing should be taken elsewhere. Let these vocal queens bless your ears.

Either way, they weren't really any better than the ones I included in the video so it doesn't really matter it wouldn't change anything :p
Just being in this list, I'm so proud of Solar. Her voice originally shouldn't be able to reach this notes (as said by voice coaches) but her passion towards singing and dedication to improve made it possible. Yong, I love you and you are Amazing😭😭

Props to Solar tho who can sing like that after teaching herself how to sing since RBW couldn't afford 5 vocal lessons a week before Mamamoo debuted, so the girls were hands on in everything including writing their songs, doing choreography and vocals. Had she went under SM's strict and proper training, imagine where that naturally powerful voice can go.
Yes I was thinking that too... Same case for Yuju, if she was an SM idol she might be higher but she did a lot with the little things she had to practice, she even thaught to her members, that makes her more special, because that is a big responsibility
From what I've heard, she had trainings from a known company/academy that specializes in vocal trainings. I think was the same company that trained other idols like Karina of aespa.

If we check credits listed on wiki, most of Mamamoo songs are from musicians in RBW, especially Kim Do-hoon (co-CEO), Park Woo-sang, Cosmic Sound, Cosmic Girl, and others. Members do contribute but usually for partial lyrics (Moonbyul for most of the rap parts), and only a few for musics (Hwasa, Solar) or whole songs (Solar). They are still developing their abilities to compose music independently. Even though, I think Solar has great potential in songwriting. Her solo songwritings are quite good such as Star Wind Flower Sun, Hello, and Big Booty (unpublished).
And she is actually the most consistent on supporting out of all three on notes below D5. While Taeyeon is more consistent with her support of/above D5, Solar just totally falls flat after C#5 (so Yuju>Solar for sure; maybe they should have put Wheein instead). I remember Yuju supporting D5 perfectly in her pre-debut era, though the support becomes inconsistent after debut, probably due to the intense straining in some of her Gfriend era songs. Additionally, although falling short to Taeyeon on E5s, Yuju can surprisingly support F5s the best for unknown reasons (which is also a note that is not in any of their consistent support range).
Taeyeon unnie never disappoints on his vocals. She has been in the industry for 13 years, and undoubtedly has the best vocal technique among these three, her voice is powerful and striking, all idols want to have Taeyeon's voice, everyone shivers when they hear a high note from Taeyeon, so the first place goes to Unnie Taeyeon

Honestly, Solar have a best this aura voice , have a great voice. But when we talk a voice can acceptly by mostly korean people, Taeyeon have a win. Yuju keep have improvement, your future was so long start from now
You should notice that some of Taeyeon’s footages here are taken when she was early 20s which was very young and same age among Solar and Yuju. From there we can see that Taeyeon’s talent is no joke! I congratulate Taeyeon for being a Legend along with her group ❤️
It was easy to see how this would go. Solar and Yuju have about the same skill, with Taeyeon in the lead. What Yuju does have over Solar is the fact that her resonance is more relaxed, Solar is a pusher. Even with the pushing, she still has resonance up to C#5, same as Yuju, which is good. Taeyeon on the other hand consistently supports D5 and often resonates them too, and she's even grasping Eb5, as she's had quite a few supported, even resonant moments on the note. All the Eb5s here were supported, so that goes to her. Above that point they're all straining, but I'll give Solar and Yuju the fact that they often retain their placement that high. So it's Taeyeon>>Yuju>Solar based on this video.

Taeyeon’s support and vocal technique is every unique. The depth of her voice is just one of the best. Taeyeon, Solar, Yuju. I love them all, but taeyeon won, just in my opinon
You mean *very unique? And no, unique is referred to singing style, not technique. Technique is something that you earn from years of training in vocal classes or school of music. So the only thing that you can say about technique is that it’s good or bad.

In terms of consistency in support and/or resonance : Taeyeon > Yuju > Solar. Taeyeon supports up to Eb5 in this video with consistent resonance. But above that, it's: Yuju > Solar = Taeyeon. Yuju has the best placement out of the three of them, and has a resonant F5. Over-all, Taeyeon wins. ☺♥
Taeyeon and solar are mid belters taeyeon can go higher but solar seem to overpush her high notes and she uses very little vibrato so it sounds a bit shouty at times… Source music did yuju dirty…
The fact that Yuju had one random Resonant F5, LOL. Forget it, well Yuju and Solar share the same technique in their Mix, but I think Yuju is bit better since she's more relaxed than Solar in 5th Octave, so they're pretty same, they supported up to C#5 with resonant, and About Taeyeon, of course she's gonna be Top, cause only her can support D5, and she also can resonant. So basically Taeyeon > Yuju >/= Solar

Yuju F5 resonant was not random, she did resonant stuff in like 3/4 of her notes in this video.Yuju has resonance in a monstrous level and it is even better now in 2018.I think I have heard 1 or 2 resonant notes from Solar.The difference is in the air used and how easy it is for them to reach these notes.Yuju reached F#5 then did something like 10 other notes in the same run in like 2 seconds, all resonant notes.People are like ''Uh Taeyeon is obviously #1'', but it was alot closer, I would even dare to say that Yuju = Taeyeon.
Yuju and Taeyeon are good because they has sopran's voice that makes them can hit highnote so easily. And then, i think kim yongsun a.k.a solar won in here. Because she has a mezzo-sopran's voice but she can hit the highnote. (of course mezzo-sopran's voice not too high between sopran's voice) So, i think Kim Yongsun a.k.a Solar win between Taeyeon and Yuju.
NANDYA GALUH I. Her tesitura is just too high, she supports down to A3. That’s not likely of a mezzo. I mean, it can be a not very well-trained mezzo that just reach A3 but it’s very unlikely and Solar is trained. She is just too chesty.
IN MY OPINION 1. Taeyeon 2. Yuju 3. Solar Taeyeon is my first because if you listen to her songs... she actually sing it from her heart(I am not saying that the two of them don't sing it from the heart) that you could actually feel the emotion that she is putting trought it(She have a vibe). Come on singing is not about shouting/hitting highnote all the times, sometimes it's has to be how you sing it to the crowd wholeheartedly. And lastly Yuju and are really good. PS: Also the way Tae hit high notes are so effortless sometimes. Maybe she got used to it already
It's not that Taeyeon is the only who sings from the heart. It's just that she is very good at using different techniques to express her emotion (ex. in If, aka her most difficult song (for me), she uses falsetto in some notes which is really hard to portray sadness but also calmness, while in the climax she changes to head to balanced mix. Also in SNSD songs that have hard hitting beats, she uses chest mix)

Hello! It is the Note "F5" at 8:59. Basically, it means it was very good! This is quite a high note that not many idols can execute with good technique, so it was great that she was able to do this. :D It was a one-time thing though, but she did it haha. Just so ya know, I stan them in this order: Taeyeon --> Mamamoo --> Gfriend. My opinion: High Belts Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yuju is just so relaxed when belting high. I don't understand. All of them have good placement, but Yuju's placement above Eb5 is just so consistently good while Taeyeon gets a bit nasal and Solar strains a little. Agility: Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solar: ⭐⭐⭐ Not much agility is showcased in this, but in general Taeyeon is very agile. From what I've seen of Yuju, she can be very agile but rarely showcases it. Solar lacks a lot of agility due to how heavy her general vocal tone is. She has surprised before with some runs, but it's pretty rare. Pitch: Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solar's pitch is so consistent and unwavering, especially on her belts. It's very refreshing. Yuju has generally got pretty good pitch, but sometimes wavers a bit at the start of notes. Taeyeon tends to slip a bit off pitch sometimes when performing live, but generally is fairly good with pitch. Stability: Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐(and a half) Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐ Yuju and Solar are both great, stable live performers, especially while dancing. Taeyeon often struggles with singing live while dancing sometimes. Her biggest issue is consistency: sometimes she's absolutely amazing and other times she is struggling. Emotion/Vocal Delivery: Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐ Taeyeon is an absolutely amazing emotional singer. Her ballads and ability to produce many vocal tones with her voice allows her to convey many different emotions while singing. Solar has a fairly broad range of emotions she can perform very well, but falls slightly short as she is less apt at performing sad songs that don't require power. Yuju's relaxed singing technique is great for a lot of areas of singing, but is often detrimental to her ability to convey emotions. These are just my opinions :)
Lim Mesach totally agree. She touch my heart the most with her voice. I think what you want to convey is the most important compare to singing skills. For me taeyeon voice is more powerful and soothing when she hit high note( more comfortable to hear) right?😂

( this is not in order ) Yuju- Taeyeon is 0.1% better on vocals, but Yuju's voice is relaxing and calm, what makes me shiver. 🍀. Tayeon: She has a perfect vocal, one of the best (if not the best) but it is not as relaxing as that of Yuju. ♥️ Solar- She has a voice with an incredible bass, and a thick voice with totally stable tremor ☀️
Well it's obvious that our queen Tayeon would win. She has the best voice but Yuju and Solar are both one of the best vocals for the 3rd Generation. Im a huge buddy lol 💕
It is also because she is the sunbae and being in a kpop industry longer then yuju and solar. So she has more experience. I believe yuju and solar would be on the same stage (on the level) like taeyeon eonni. They are an amazing vocalist in kpop industry.
Mamoly Gilolany actually Ailee has a more higher voice than she has. Not for offending someone you can't say that someone exceeds others talent but if you will look at it her voice is not that stable but I think she will improve so I think she will be in the future

1.Taeyeon here emotions while she sings is really something. Her voice is just so pleasant. 2.Yuju, she reached the high notes so effortlessly, every time I hear her sing I get goosebumps. 3.Solar, she's pretty good all around as a singer. In my opinion it just doesn't beat Taeyeon and Yuju.

So basically Taeyeon > Yuju >/= Solar

Yuju F5 resonant was not random, she did resonant stuff in like 3/4 of her notes in this video.Yuju has resonance in a monstrous level and it is even better now in 2018.I think I have heard 1 or 2 resonant notes from Solar.The difference is in the air used and how easy it is for them to reach these notes.Yuju reached F#5 then did something like 10 other notes in the same run in like 2 seconds, all resonant notes.People are like ''Uh Taeyeon is obviously #1'', but it was alot closer, I would even dare to say that Yuju = Taeyeon.

Yuju and Taeyeon are good because they has sopran's voice that makes them can hit highnote so easily. And then, i think kim yongsun a.k.a solar won in here. Because she has a mezzo-sopran's voice but she can hit the highnote. (of course mezzo-sopran's voice not too high between sopran's voice) So, i think Kim Yongsun a.k.a Solar win between Taeyeon and Yuju.

Taeyeon is my first because if you listen to her songs... she actually sing it from her heart(I am not saying that the two of them don't sing it from the heart) that you could actually feel the emotion that she is putting trought it(She have a vibe). Come on singing is not about shouting/hitting highnote all the times, sometimes it's has to be how you sing it to the crowd wholeheartedly. And lastly Yuju and are really good.
PS: Also the way Tae hit high notes are so effortless sometimes. Maybe she got used to it already

It's not that Taeyeon is the only who sings from the heart. It's just that she is very good at using different techniques to express her emotion (ex. in If, aka her most difficult song (for me), she uses falsetto in some notes which is really hard to portray sadness but also calmness, while in the climax she changes to head to balanced mix. Also in SNSD songs that have hard hitting beats, she uses chest mix)
When hitting the high notes effortless maybe I would say wheein and jessica... because their type of voice is already high...

Hello! It is the Note "F5" at 8:59. Basically, it means it was very good! This is quite a high note that not many idols can execute with good technique, so it was great that she was able to do this. :D It was a one-time thing though, but she did it haha. Yuju is just so relaxed when belting high. I don't understand. All of them have good placement, but Yuju's placement above Eb5 is just so consistently good while Taeyeon gets a bit nasal and Solar strains a little.

Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Solar: ⭐⭐⭐
Not much agility is showcased in this, but in general Taeyeon is very agile. From what I've seen of Yuju, she can be very agile but rarely showcases it. Solar lacks a lot of agility due to how heavy her general vocal tone is. She has surprised before with some runs, but it's pretty rare.
Pitch:
Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Yuju: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Taeyeon: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Solar's pitch is so consistent and unwavering, especially on her belts. It's very refreshing. Yuju has generally got pretty good pitch, but sometimes wavers a bit at the start of notes. Taeyeon tends to slip a bit off pitch sometimes when performing live, but generally is fairly good with pitch.

Solar: ⭐⭐⭐⭐(and a half)

Yuju and Solar are both great, stable live performers, especially while dancing. Taeyeon often struggles with singing live while dancing sometimes. Her biggest issue is consistency: sometimes she's absolutely amazing and other times she is struggling.

Taeyeon is an absolutely amazing emotional singer. Her ballads and ability to produce many vocal tones with her voice allows her to convey many different emotions while singing. Solar has a fairly broad range of emotions she can perform very well, but falls slightly short as she is less apt at performing sad songs that don't require power. Yuju's relaxed singing technique is great for a lot of areas of singing, but is often detrimental to her ability to convey emotions.
These are just my opinions :)
