- A vocal battle showcasing 4/5 members of SNSD's vocal line; Jessica, Sunny, Tiffany and Seohyun. It is pretty amazing that SNSD had 5/9 members as their vocal line, whereas most other groups will only have 2-3. So in this video, So enjoy as these ladies dazzle you with their singing.

Well Sunny is a stronger vocalist than Tiffany by a bit. Most delveloped headvoice in Soshi, and the least developed in low notes.

Jessica's vocals are soft and unique, her tone is very beautiful, I think she has the best vocals
I really like SNSD because they have Taeyeon, Jessica, Tiffany, Sunny and Seohyun as the vocal line.
And have Hyoyeon, Yuri, Yoona, Sooyoung, and slightly Seohyun (since Seohyun is also very good at dancing too and always at the in front) for the dancer line.
Hyoyeon, Sooyoung and Tiffany also good at rapping.
I mean, they are like so balanced. Every members has their own speciality 😍

Sica has the nicest vibrato among them. Her mix sounds really balanced.
Sunny is so underrated in SNSD, she is a gem under the dirt.

Erik Azevedo omg there could be some mistakes in your coment. It is true that Jessica is the best a mong 4 girls . However, Jesssica actually did not resonate frequently as you said. Her highnotes were just pretty well supported, but not often resonated. Her nasality prevents her from producing resonance a lot of time.

everyone, i didn't say her resonance is consistent at all, what i said is that she had some good moments that if you put them in a video like this, she sounds better than she actually is. let me exemplify: the open (? correct me if i'm wrong) C5 in summer storm is in the video, but the tight B4 in gravity isn't, so these videos put her in a better position bc she has "inconsistent better moments" compared to the others.
as for the jessica-seohyun-sunny comparison, i'm afraid that's not what most people here agree (specially kpopvocal and onehallyu thread). jessica has had more resonant moments, in a bigger range that the other 3 + she has a more balanced mix which allows her to be resonant in first place, the balance has been an issue for both seohyun and sunny, that's been stablished as well (that's all in their analysis, comment sections and onehallyu thread)
also, even if she does win this battle, the other 3 have head voice while she does not, which is what puts her aside seohyun even if she has a lower range and a brighter mix.
I got what you mean. But there is a thing that when making a video to compare 2 or more vocalists, people alwways use their best notes as a framework in order to compare. So, Jessica has more decent moments comparing with the 3 other girls.

Erik Azevedo Taeyeon was trained at SM Academy by Jeong Soon-won for three years before being signed with SM; and I don't recall anything about her parents being singers - her father didn't even want to her to become one. They own an eyeglass shop in Jeonju.

Sunny's Catch Me If You Can musical theatre is one of her best performance ever, in 5:27 also nice performance.
This is also the reason why Jessica is one of two SNSD main vocals.
SNSD is so vocally powered I can't believe some people don't like them or don't think they're that talented. The vocal line is so so strong

good at adlibs, have so much power, the best low notes among SNSD members, so much consistent vibrato.

this just makes me mad that sm doesn't treat snsd better. they were and are a balanced group. all the vocalists can sing, and all the dancers can dance. nowadays companies will just put like one person who's on the level of these girls and that's it
hzcritter The girls kind of knew that their prime days were over after 2015. Plus they were getting older, they wanted to branch off and trying doing their own thing so they aren’t completely lost when the group inevitably disbands. They’re always going to be SNSD and SM knows that when they group up for a reunion, SM is going to make BANK (provided the remaining girls are still with SM at that point). Unfortunately this is the reality of business. You invest more into the group that will make you more money. Right now that’s NCT, EXO, and Red Velvet.

Meh, for me out of the vocalists Jessica's voice is the one I like the least. Obviously she's more stable than Tiffany but I just don't like the tone. Sunny always underrated. Seohyun has grown on me a lot but Taeyeon wins every time. (I'm Yuri biased btw, my interest in the vocal line is pretty much limited to their voices)

Though i am a sunshiner through & through, i've always like Tiffany's husky voice. Scratch that, i like all of them vocalists. Taeyeon, Jessica, Seohyun, Sunny & Tiffany. They are a strong vocal line up for a gg. I love Sunny's soothing voice, Taeyeon's deep voice, Tiffany's husky voice, Seohyun's sweet voice & Jessica's cute voice. I love them all. Their voices compliment eachother.

Jessica seems to lead a little bit here, Seohyun's musical moments are usually her best moments, they both show more resonant notes than the other two. Sunny/Tiffany did fine up to B4, maybe C5 for Sunny. Tiffany's singing after B4 shows a lot of issues regarding her pitch, placement, breath support, and so on. Jessica and Seohyun show the best consistency here (obviously they're not too good either), but they've managed to show more consistency with support, placement and even resonance up to C#5. Sunny sometimes has more ease than Jessica/Seohyun but she is so closed and shaky for the majority of time after C#5. None of them supports after Eb5 and sings with a high larynx, but Tiffany... shouts.

People seem to be basing their opinion on their vocals before Jessica left strangely. I do agree, Tiffany is the one that has improved the most after Jessica left, she stepped up really big. Even though Seohyun is more consistent than her, when Tiffany lands her notes, she's arguably the best. I'd put them joint 1st.
SNSD is the only kpop group that i actually like. You know, the girls can sing. I've never heard any other groups singing live and clear.

Jessica- i feel like she was up there with taeyeon when they debuted. But she got lazy or something happened that made her voice idk stagnant? Like she didnt improve or something. Her voice sounds the best when she's singing with the other members, has the most distinct voice in snsd.
Seohyun- i lowkey think she's the member who can go very high in her mixed voice compare to the other members, but i feel like when she's singing with the other members, her voice can get easily overshadowed. Her voice is too airy sometimes especially when she's going hiiiigh (problem) idk how to explain it. Her voice doesnt have that idk, sharpness? When hitting high notes. Her mix is mostly heady. I feel like if taeyeon is absent then she would be the best choice to sing taeyeon's part.
Sunny- i feel like her voice was wasted especially during their debut period( 2007-2009) when they used to sing very cutesy and high pitched songs. Her head voice is the best in snsd. Her potential in her mixed voice is wasted tho. I feel like if she was trained harder then she couldve been up there with taeyeon since she has the range and ease

Tiffany- in my opinion has the best tone in snsd. Her voice sounds the best in studio version. I have to admit that her singing sucks when they just debuted. Its like. She was pushed in the vocal line and she's not really up there vocally compared to the other vocal members during 2007-2011. And i have this feeling thst when she sings high then her voice will crack any minute. And thats not a good thing. Lool. But i think that after her debut then she improved alot and used her voice smartly. Her mixed voiced is still very pushed anf strained but atleast she could belt random eb5 and higher now without her cracking.. I personally believe that shes up there with the other vocal members now. She have the best lower register during debut and even up to now. Her voice voice improved alot too.

Hello. Hehe Good day. The ranking that ive made is based on a Kpop vocal analyses. Not mine. The oh so loong statements are my opinion.. Jessica produces a falsetto. She can produce a headvoice but is not as consistent as the others. Taeyeon is actually the closer one to sunny then tiffany/seohyun. But jessica is the overall better vocalist than tiffany.

Jessica and Sunny were such a good combo; Jessica has a lighter and higher pitched tone, with the weakest higher register, and strongest lower register. Sunny has a slightly darker and heavier tone, with the weakest lower register, and strongest higher register
I also so in love with both of them, love that kind of voice😍😁

I really love this video. These ladies look so great. They are really talented. Jessica is literally the best here, maybe some people are ignoring her for being a main vocalist, but y’all should know that she has talent so much. She is really consistent with her notes up to D5. Seohyun is coming after her, Seo is more consistent than Sunny and Tiffany. Then, these two ladies (tiffany and sunny) are in the 3rd place where tiffany is better for some moments. But, you can’t ignore that sunny has a very beautiful vocals. In the clip that shows Sunny’s nowaday’s vocals, She is more opened and looks so enjoy for reaching those notes.
I just recently watch about Sunny opening about why she declining about soloing because a vocal director once said that her voice is boring and it affects confidence in singing. That must be the reason why her technique in singing hasn't improved compared to seohyun and tiffany.

The exact vocal ranking is tae>sica>seo>sun>fany.
It’s rather unfair for sunny since she sings the least out of the vocalists and wasn’t given much chance to showcase her vocal abilities let alone improve it as she’s always so busy with variety shows and her fmdate. Her voice is thin and her pitch is high in nature so it’s super easy for her to sing high notes and seeing that her head voice is the best in snsd is no surprise. Low notes are not her thing but she’s been trying her best to improve on it. She’s super underrated as a vocalist all due to sm not promoting her as much as the other 4 vocalists.
Sica was one of the two main vocalists in snsd so it’s of no doubt that she’s the best out of the 3 in this vid.
Seo is constantly improving and going for vocal lessons and can surpass sica anytime now but lets just respect their ranking here.
Fany is best at lower notes since her high notes are kind of inconsistent since she (has?) had vocal nodules and it hurts when she sings. No doubt she’s still able to hit high notes due to her always singing (tts, solo and many solo performances), allowing her to maintain and improve. She has a strong and loud voice so it’s very easy for fans to assume that she’s better than sunny.
Anyways, thank you for the video and your hardwork is very much appreciated.

They are all amazing but this is how the results of the battle is. Even though I put Tiffany last she has the best tone imo. Husky and girly heaven😍
That would be their inconsistent supported range right? but Sunny has Eb5.

@Wushy actually sunny has never supported an eb5. she only resonated it. she only did this once whilst jessica supported d5 4 times.
@Wushy since your comment got deleted like 3 times, i will just respond. jessica did support d5 4 times. her supported range video proved it. as well as that in her vocal analysis it says «supports up to d5: although rarely». anyways yes it’s hard to resonate a note when u have almost no support/have never supported that note, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. taemin fe (i am talking about his vocals from 2012-2015, because i am unsure if he can still do this) supported up to g4/g#4 yet his resonance was consistent up to a4. and i never discredited sunny with «only resonated», that itself is very impressive. i said «only» because u said she supported, which she didn’t.
@@idk6918 Yeah I don't know what happened, Sunny's highest supported notes is the same as Taeyeon's right? If she's consistent on that then she can easily their second vocalist eventhough I don't like her tone. It's not important I guess since it's just their inconsistent supported range, I just ranked Sunny higher because of her Eb5 being resonant and headvoice than Jessica. Do you have some link for Jessica's D5s?

Best live performance for me ::1.Seohyun (for the resonance consistently) (-Emotionally)
2.Jessica (For High Note and Unique Belts and Fallseto) (-sometimes Not consistent in upper belt)
3.Sunny (For high notes and easier Hitting High notes) (-little not strong upperbelts when singing live with dancing)
4.Tiffany (for resonance, open Belt, and husky voice) (-Pitchy sometimes in Upper belts, Not consistent)
For me, now their ranking will be Seohyun>Jessica>>Tiffany>Sunny
Seohyun and Jessica's gap is little to none though. Tiffany and Sunny as well. This is in terms of support and range.
Vocal tone wise, I like Seohyun's and Tiffany's. :)

Tiffany sounded the most pleasing for me in this video (and she has my favorite voice overall). In terms of vocal health, Seohyun did the best.

I mean it wasn't just my opinion that Jessica and Seohyun did the best here and Tiffany isn't in any competition after B4. Tiffany's singing after B4 shows a lot issues regarding her pitch, placement, breath support, and so on. Jessica and Seohyun show the best consistency here (obviously they're not too good either), but they've managed to show more consistency with support, placement and even resonance up to C#5. Sunny sometimes has more ease than Jessica/Seohyun but she is so closed and shaky for the majority of time after C#5. None of them supports after Eb5 and sings with a high larynx, but Tiffany... shouts.

Jessica is a main vocal along with Taeyeon, so I didn't see any point putting her here when Seohyun, Tiffany, Sunny are lead vocals.
Seohyun is the most stable for me in Girls Generation but she needs to improve her breathing techniques. She has a great technique along with Jessica. Her highnotes are the cleanest for me.
Sunny and Tiffany. Tiffany and Sunny has the weakest control in the vocal line. Tiffany would often strain or overpower others voice. she wasnt really part of the vocal line when they debuted.
Sunny, has the widest range along with Jessica. But her voice tends to be annoying sometimes, its so shaky and weird. She wasnt really trained.
For me Seohyun. She did it well from c5
