  • @ZachDriftwood
    @ZachDriftwood 4 года назад +1

    Hey there! I wonder if you would know the answer to this:
    I am on my 2nd pixma pro and using macOS, many talks with canon trying to resolve my issue with borders, no matter what software I use when i try to get even borders of any size, they end up very uneven on the print. whether i use margins. shrink the image cell or even put a layer over the image with measured out borders. if i set it to 10mm each side, I will usually get 10mm. 8mm, 9mm and 5mm or something like that. have tried on multiple versions of macOS and see here you are using a mac so wonder if you are getting better results. (Both of my printers were doing this, 1st was replaced because they believed it was defective)

    • @NickHoeller
      @NickHoeller  4 года назад +1

      Hey Zach! Wow, that sounds like that can be frustrating. Silly question, but have you run a print head alignment test? For me, that usually fixes the problem. Also, make sure the sliders on both ends are always hitting up on the paper nice and snug. Another way I make borders on my prints is by making the actual photo smaller on the paper itself. So, if I'm in Photoshop about to print with an 8x10 photo, I'll go to the scale area and type in 7.5x5 and it'll be smaller on the 8x10 paper, leaving white borders. But this one stumped me! I'm sorry you're having this problem. I appreciate you watching! :)

    Thank you so much for this video. I do have a few questions. How would this work with sticker paper? Or vinyl stickers and decals? My main use for this printer would be photos and high quality waterproof glossy stickers. Also you mentioned having issues with software. I have a iMac and am concerned about not being compatible as I have read many reviews that canon printers do not work well with iMac. ? Also if one color runs out of ink will the printer continue printing? Or does it stop until you get that color replaced? Is it best to purchase and replace all colors at the same time or whenever they run out? Sorry so many questions. This printer is expensive for my budget and want to make sure I get one that is worth the cost. Appreciate any advice. :)

    • @NickHoeller
      @NickHoeller  4 года назад +2

      Hi, Jodi! No worries about all the questions. I’ll try my best in answering them! I’ve printed stickers before with this printer and had no problems at all. I have not had a chance to print vinyl or decals. I also run an iMac and MacBook Pro with this printer and can honestly say I don’t have that many issues with compatibility. Everything usually runs smoothly. As mentioned in the video, I sometimes run into software not printing the correct colors. But it’s an easy fix with re-installing the software. If one color runs out, I believe it’ll still run, but your colors will be off. It’ll keep warning you that your ink is low and that you should replace it. I’d recommend just replacing the ink that ran out instead of replacing all. Overall it’s an incredible printer and highly recommend it! Thanks for watching! 😊

      Hi Brejaun! I have used 14PT card stock postcards and I’ve been pleased with the results. For me, printing photos on them, the colors become a little muted and have a heavy matted look. Mine lasted for a little over a year and won't power up. I tried all the stupid things Canon said to try...like hold the on/off button for 20 seconds and you'll be fine. I even replaced the power supply (basically a plug in box) with a known good one. After the printer died, crappy tech support, crazy high shipping fees and the "IF we can fix the problem" is moving me away from Canon for good. I'm not sure I can even trust their cameras any more due to the amount of electronics crammed inside of them. However the print quality was great....while it lasted.

      Hey Luke! What’re you expecting from a photo printer? 20-30 full bleed 8x10 photos is A LOT considering this is a photo printer and not your usual inkjet printer.
