Thanks for the video, I used this info when I went to buy a secondhand ultra 24 for $1200. Be careful everyone, they can fake the barcode tests, but it did not pass the test mode check. And i checked the camera which was very poor quality. So glad I did these checks, and saved my $1200 thank you!
@@primelasst2955 from what I saw online you go to software info and tap Android verson repeatedly it will open the easter egg which will display the current version of android that the phone is on. So if its saying its a samsung s24 ultra with android 14 running, it will show the "android 14" logo. What's happened in the fakes is, they claim in the setting that its running Android 14 but when you do this check it pops up with a different operating system. That's one of the best ways ive found to find out....for now anyways because apparently the fake phones have not found a way around this easter egg reveal.
some checks you can do is check the features like if it has high refresh rate, screen resolution, camera, check which software version the phone is running. check for imperfections on the phone or on the box, stuff like the bezel being to thick, or read the fine print on the box and check for spelling mistakes. its become so hard to spot fakes nowadays.
I personally wouldn`t consider the *#0*# test worth since a lot of those new counterfeits are using oldest note phones, so they will also have this test mode. The IMEI also could be changed in some higher end counterfeits. Check if the Android version is the last (keep clicking in the icon until the easter egg appears, the Android 14 "Upside Down Cake" with should come in the S24 ) They cant change the easter egg. If you are buying from a reputable store you generally expect to be given a brand new phone in a sealed box. You are relying on the store acting in good faith since, if they are a reputable and well known merchant they would not wish to engage in some dodgy behaviour. If you are buying the phone off a private seller you are at risk of fraud. The sealed box could be a sealed box of rocks for all you know.
if you buy outside the store you Must check out the phone by opening it and see if legit. seller knows it too, unless he knows its crap and makes it difficult , that is your red flag to abort the sale.
I just bought one yesterday and scared that it might be fake. I turn it on and it's kind of lagging. Has sealed box, ime ran clean. Seller even have the original receipt from Best Buy referencing the ime on the receipt. I will do these test when I get home.

Can't trust just the IMEI test. I bought one that checked out clean, matched the box, phone looked exactly like the ones in store. Still turned out to be a counterfeit. I would say connect to a wifi download some apps and files make sure storage and size of downloads matched. The counterfeit says it has 1tb storage space but in reality more like 64gb. That was how I found out mine was a counterfeit.
I received my used s23 ultra off a seller on eBay yesterday. The phone came with: 1. A Samsung s23 ultra box 2. Original Samsung postage box. 3. Seller sent a digital copy of the Samsung store receipt. Getting passed my initial excitement. I checked imei number on the phone with the box and to my horror it didn't match. I contacted Samsung consumer online helpline, told them imei number and Samsung operator confirmed it was a legit handset. But, I will still do checks and ask if the seller has the original box which the handset came in (not happy with that).
