Alongside Third Strike, they are the peak of 2d pixel art.
SFIII has crap graphics. Not even close. Its just better Mode 7 with enlarged pixels. Even GamePro rated it as mediocre back in the day.

2D anime character sprites on top of 3D backgrounds are great in video games. The characters will look attractive instead of looking like robotic dolls.
Have you ever realized the fact that KOF XIII sprites have shadows casted by limbs and hair.
Other styles of sprites just set the lighting in such ways that don't cast shadows, or are minimal, in order to have less details and requiring less work. However, in KOF XIII they decided to set lighting from DIRECTLY FROM ABOVE and manually draw the shadows.
This is unnecesary hard and they could just avoid it, but they decided to go ahead and bring us beautiful detailed sprites with shadows that look natural!!!
It's unnecessary, maybe also inefficient, but without a doubt, it looks BEAUTIFUL
What's crazier is that you even brought this up cause I literally realized this myself as of last night which messing around with King. It's other small but amazing details I also noticed. Truly a remarkable game.
The animation/art is so good. It looks like 3D.
I mean... It's some 3-D thrown in there, so you're not far off..😊
If you didn't know the developers worked on the 3D models first to select the motions that are best fit for the 2D models.
the ultimate 2d game os the videogames industry literally the best scenarios, the best ost the best sprites the most explosive combos, the best kof game.
Nothing like watching a high-quality edit of random KoF characters whiffing their normals in neutral. Almost makes me want to punish them with a counter-hit.

They already have it seems judging by SamSho, KOFXIV, SNK Heroines, KOFXV, etc.
It looks like they cleaned these up. Have to watch to see footage or honestly to run the game. The original had a weird filter that messed up the super expensive graphics.
@@antonivi8968 The arcade version of KOF 12 ran on CRT monitors. the sprites were built for those and not LCD monitors.
Hicieron un excelente trabajo en el pixel art de KoF XIII, ojalá por algún aniersario importante realicen un nuevo KoF on ese estilo de arte. Y por cierto regresen a ponerle énfasis a las buenas historias entre personajes, aunque sean juegos de pelea antes le daba un excelente plus tener una historia que entrelace a los diferentes equipos
Eso está faltando en el 14 y 15. Son juegos simples con poquísimos juegos y modos offline.
Hacer este estilo de arte es como tirar dinero en la basura para SNK.
Ellos no lo van hacer otra vez.

the sprite art in that game was gorgeous, a shame it's way too expensive and time consuming to make, so I can understand SNK for not using it again.

There was a period where SNK stopped using his full name, some suspect it may have been legal disputes with the actual person they named the character after (similarly Robert Gracia is also named after a real person)

pues como casi los lleva ala baca rota este juego no creo que volvamos a ver ese estilo... en la página oficial también explican que les llevaba 6 meses hacer cada personaje...

As a loyal Mexican kof player, already bought it the pixn love version kof xlll gm. I rather have the real stuff. I bought the burn to fight kof XIV. Kof xv ps4 kof xv ps5 neo geo mini 8bitdo snk controller. Kof xlll deluxe uk version ps3 and american.

Snk needs to Update the android snk games especially metal slug 3 and kof xlll. Those aca neogeo versions have cheap low quality control buttons settings.

Um brasileiro que pode controlar o Verde, e que tem alguns golpes que invoca uma ventania.
Camisa branca. Uma pequena capa sem manga, que vai até acima da barriga, na cor azul, verde e amarelo.
Calça verde e amarelo. Sapato azul. Usa um brinco da cor branca.
Ele pode se teletransportar usando o vegetaçõe.
Uma japonesa que controla a água, e usa um guarda-chuva para atacar e ter melhor controle sob a água.
Em alguns golpes, o Guarda-chuva invoca um raio rosa-claro.

Ela usa um vestido com manga comprida, que vai até acima do joelho na cor branca,rosa claro e azul claro.

El juego tiene mucho detalle en cada animacion, muchos colores, muchas referecias pero hay algo malo y eso es el estilo artisitico que usaron, se ven muy surrealistas en comparacion de los antiguos sprites de neo geo justo pense que tal vez es por la falta de shinkiro, ya que no se sienten igual los sprites de NGBC y Nameless en kof 2002 UM al los clasicos sprites de los 2000.

Bruh imagine binding this game to PS4 and Switch only.
I lovd the pixel art movement and colors. The proportions, not so much. Ralph looks like he's going to explode from too much muscles. And a lot of the girls have big heads and tiny bodies. I wish they toned it down a bit, would be perfect. Well, the 3D ones are looking good, but most 3D games don't look masterfully done like the pixel art.

Please, release the full set of "trading cards" that are part of the KoF-A game (the xiii android/ios port) as they are such a nice thing to have and almost impossible to complete on a "single player" game!
Them promoting trading cards was one of the things that caused SNK with XIII to get looked at horrifically in the first place...😅
