Wow! You are so knowledgeable and such a generous teacher! The instructions are so clear and you are so calm! Thank you so much, Cheryl!! Greetings from Argentina!
This was super helpful! For those of us on windows however, when you go to export, change the file type there don't get confused like me. Amazing video and tips than you so much!
Thank you so much! At a really helpful pace. Just one question - when saved as an interactive pdf, how do I get rid of the blue background of the interactive boxes?
Thank you so much! I made it. It works perfectly on laptop but I couldn't use check box and list box on iPhone. Anything you think can help to fix that problem? Thank you in advance.
Does anyone know if you can also choose in which color the text will appear in the text box form? The default is black, but I'd like to make it into a different color.
Thanks for this, great tutorial - is there a way you can change the background colour from blue please? Everything in your file and the one I have just created has a blue colour to the box. When you click on it it turns white whilst you type, then reverts to blue. thanks
I then use acrobat to make it even better. Yiu can also make it gather all the info in one document. You can even add javascript, can get very technical
Hello there, I just found this video while searching on same fillable topic. I want to ask you if you could make same video but for affinity designer/publisher about creating fillable pdfs if possible? :))
One last step, if the form is for others to use, an instruction of how to save and send or submit the form would be welcomed. It looks like they've made a few improvements over the last few years. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing this kind of content, I found it very helpful! Do you know if it is possible to have the fillable text forms colored and for them to stay that way after downloading?
Yes I coloured mine a 20% yellow. I created non-interactive boxes and tinted it 20% yellow then I created the interactive boxes within these. The only thing is, when I tested, the auto-blue in the interactive boxes stays. I need to find out how the auto blue can chnage to the yellow I'm using.
Someone else in these replies supplied the answer: In Acrobat > Under the preference > Forms > Highlight color > Turn Off > Show border hover color for fields.
Hi! Thank you for the great video! I was wondering how you can remove the blue background in the text fields in the end pdf. I have turned off the highlighted areas in Adobe Acrobat, but it's not working! Are you having this problem as well?
Thanks for the handy tips for Indesign to Acrobat PDF functionality. Once the PDF form is completed by a user, how would they submit, save or send the PDF form and how will you as the creator receive the information provided?
Exactly what I was thinking, they can save the form when it is filled in but it still seems to be interactive when really you want it to be just static
there is a submit button option you can create that will send it to a designated server or email address, look up "using the submit form button in indesign' for a turtorial if you can't nut it out just from messing around, if you want the form to be locked from editing, you would need to add a signature box using acrobat pro
@@StephenGrala that is a little beyond indesign, but in acrobat pro you can take your indeisgn document and add a signature field that locks editing once signed.
What I'd like to know is how to finesse the position the filled text will be in when you fill in a field in the form. Only way I've been able to figure out is to change the height and position of the text box until it looks OK. It's a very imprecise process. If there's an easier way, I'd like to know it. Also, can you set the order for text fields while still in InDesign, so that tabbing to the next field will go where you want it? I know how to do it in Acrobat, but if there's a way to do it in InDesign, that would save time. Automatically, it seems to just go left to right, which doesn't help when I have columns.
Hey thank you for your guide! is there a way to export a PDF to my phone like free the layers so i can move around all the layers and edit texts? i'm mean not froms or contracts...i wanna create a curriculum vitae and sometimes i want to edit some changes..
Can you create a video showing how to take this interactive form and create a office football pool. Inside the form there will be two check boxes per game and only one can be selected at a time. If you click on the second one the first unclicks. And then the submitted form must be compared to a master form to show total correct picks.
hi, for this you might want to use a button instead, select a button and make it a checkbox shape, select > actions > show/hide buttons and forms, and have it hide the opposite teams checkbox when selected, you will need to have a very clear naming convention, you can also make a reset button that will undo these actions at the bottom. To make it look like it is a check box, you will have to change the appearance on click to a selected box option. If this doesnt make sense, search for "using show hide button in indesign" and watch a vid. Hope this helps! Good luck
I have finished designing a workbook in with the fillable PDF program and all worked well so far. Our only real road block is once it’s saved, the imported images (JPEG files) are blurry (not sharp) as when saved in the non-fillable version. The vector designed illustration look ok though. Do you know of a way to make that crisp and sharp for the fillable version. Thank you! I appreciate your time!
I know this is old but are they 300 dpi? Did you enlarge them? There are many reasons for blurry images, phones sometimes take blurry photos or if they don't if you sent a bunch at a time it will compress. It really depends what you're using, how you export, ect. There's also an option for display as when you left click and it can display high quality or low quality.
When you export it as an Interactive PDF, it will give you the options to adjust the compression setting in the next window. By default, it's set pretty low, so change it to lossless JPEG or bump the resolution up from 72dpi to 300dpi.
Hi. Question: I have noticed that when trying to print out the filled out PDF, a multiline fillable area only shows what is seen on the screen. The actual PDF is scrollable if there is more type than what is seen in the space, but when printing out the PDF, you will not see all of the text that was entered. Any suggestions to address this issue?
This demo is for people who have the basic knowledge in InDesign. She did mention that you should first create your document in order to follow onwards.
Super helpful! I was getting "bad" info about creating PDF forms using Acrobat when InDesign is so much nicer to work with. Thank you!
Thanks, this is exactly what I needed to know, and I am glad you assumed that the user generally understands Indesign. Will be trying it out soon!
You have a knack for teaching. Clear, and easy to understand with a pleasant demeanor Thank you!

I feel like the answer will never come ;(
Great tutorial, glad InDesign has made changes to the process since last I tried doing this years ago.
Good lookin out! Exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you! You made this such an easy follow-through! It saved me hours of struggle :)
Clicked on the video and the simple piano music is sublime. Great guide thanks v much.
Great! Thanks, I'm new with InDesign that your tutorial was really useful!
Thank you, this tutorial is so detailed and clear, learned a lot !
Thanks so much, very helpful. Especially explaining the different functions within the buttons window. :)
Thank you! This was SO HELPFUL!!
Thank you so much! I made it. It works perfectly on laptop but I couldn't use check box and list box on iPhone. Anything you think can help to fix that problem? Thank you in advance.
Thanks a lot, you have given an imported knowledge about fillable form.

BIG THANK YOU!! from Croatia
Great video. Can you collect data on pages and then output all the data collected where you choose?
Thank You! But have a question: can i align text center inside textfield?
Thanks for the helpful tips! Does it work the same if you publish it online?
Thanks for this, great tutorial - is there a way you can change the background colour from blue please? Everything in your file and the one I have just created has a blue colour to the box. When you click on it it turns white whilst you type, then reverts to blue. thanks

Thank you that was so helpful , much appreciated
good luck!!!
Great video! Please share more InDesign tutorials.
Thank you. Great job explaining!
Thanks. Clear and simple.
thank you so much this is perfect for my genealogy project templates
what a helpful tutorial :) So cool, thank you a lot! I would prefer to not have the jazzy background sounds though, to be honest.
This is super helpful. Thanks!
I then use acrobat to make it even better. Yiu can also make it gather all the info in one document. You can even add javascript, can get very technical
BIG THANK YOU!! from France
Nice video. Any idea if the form field can have example text appear then get deleted when the user types?
Ok

What if you want to add custom fonts, is there a way to package a font into the document so that it works on other people’s computers?
This is great info. Would this inherently work on a ipad?
Was it saved ? Need video on interactive digital brochure … Thanks
Hello there, I just found this video while searching on same fillable topic. I want to ask you if you could make same video but for affinity designer/publisher about creating fillable pdfs if possible? :))
Is this a good alternative to Adobe AEM forms? Great video; thank you for making this.
That's a *REALLY* great question!

Hi, thank you so much for thee video. Can i change the blue-ish color of the form field? The one that appears before and after i tap the area to fill?
That's a preference setting in Acrobat that you can easily change.
@@christaeagleton4944 excuse me, where's it?
Cool. thanks.

Can we have this on illustrator already
How to fix text alignment for these fillables?

Great question, I am wondering about this as well.
Did she mention how to create the boxes?
the problem is my fillable boxes are blue by default what i do?
That's a preference setting in Acrobat that's easily changed.
15:20 It's a shame you seemingly cannot add margins within the text field.
To bad you didnt show the method to show submit form.
Don't understand why this seems to have been developed in late 90s. All those interactive graphics which come with InDesign are SO outdated
WTF you lost me, its like you jumped right into step 20, how about starting with step one, document size and blank page.
This demo is for people who have the basic knowledge in InDesign. She did mention that you should first create your document in order to follow onwards.
