    I bought the NX250 almost two years ago. I love mine. It's a very comfortable drive. Easy entertainment screen. For the price it gives a lot more than it's German competition. I had a Mercedes SUV and the amount of issues and costs for maint. is not worth it. Also, the Lexus gets much better gas mileage and takes regular gas. With the state of the ecomony this is the best looks and price for a luxury compact SUV.

    If you go German or European of course performance is a priority since those are built to handle the autobahn in Germany! The problem is reliability falters which is where Lexus is king. Toyota in general are very reliable and Lexus is their luxury brand so go figure. I like the nx250 but in the awd premium trim. Fwd wouldn’t be too good on suvs only awd let’s you feel more in control. I already drive a performance oriented sedan (also Japanese maker) so 0-60 times is not what I’m looking for in the nx250. Sure there’s the 350 variant but more costly and I don’t plan to buy brand new but CPO. Thanks for the test drive review 🙂

    A trendy design. I do like the hidden exhaust pipes. I don't like the design of the chrome around the C pillar. I don't like the Lexus front grill which will catch bugs, stones, mud and snow in the real world. I like the motor/transmission combo. Much better than CVT. LEXUS will never top the instrument cluster of the IS300's chronograph style. Roads in a lot of cities are poor quality with potholes so low profile tires give a terrible ride. The red insert that runs along the center console so thin that it irritates the knees of driver and passenger alike. Unfortunately, no one noticed until the second week of ownership. About the same time the ride starts to aggregate. Noisy engine and road noise is pronounced. It is quick enough and highway mileage should impress.

    • @MattTheCarguy
      @MattTheCarguy  Год назад +1

      24:15 is the test drive. You can hear that there is no gear shift in this transmission. It is not noisy or "whiny " as in other vehicles but it does not give you that crisp shifts and accelerations as in traditional torque converter. Many people prefer the CVT as it saves you gas and is not as complicated to fix but it takes a toll on driving dynamics. As far as German cars, yes they are expensive as far as service and repairs. Maintenance I would say is comparable cost and repairs out of warranty are not cheap, so if you plan to buy a pre-owned one or buy new and keep it for a long time I would recommend getting and extended warranty on any German vehicle.
