This work is usually done in the fall/winter, but with some great aftercare, the tree should do well. If you enjoyed this video, please like, comment, or even subscribe to the channel. ❤
Nice styling of this tree. I think this would make a nice tree for Christmas with tiny lights all a glow on it and mini presents under the tree. Marvelous tree. Superb!
Some great decisions in terms of brach selection. I'm glad you decided to get rid of the Jin, good approach to try a bit, nah not good, chop it off 😂. Poor scissors ✂️ man you're a savage. Your video quality is next level in the last few you have posted, wow. The actual bonsai work got me from the beginning, you have that taste for the tall slender trees, a very particular style. Keep it up!
Thanks, Daniel. I feel the jin at the top may have worked if I were willing to reduce the living growth some more, but I decided against it. But the scissors are absolutely fine. They were cleaned, smoothed, sharpened, and oiled last night and are still good as new. I'm really trying to improve the video quality at the moment, and I like to think it's improving with every new upload. So I try to learn something new or different. You've noticed I like the tall trees. Something about them appeals to me. Perhaps they're more convincing as 100ft trees in miniature. But I tend to work on anything I can get my hands on. 😅
@@Rojin_Bonsai_Studio yeah I can really see yourself why are in your element with the tall trees, although your other trees like the little elm or the cascade are also beautiful, you don't look as comfortable when working on those. Takes guts to share your work on camera.
Very well balanced design. I love that you wired it to the 9ines 💪 i am gonna guess just under 2 hours? the ending shot and music...thats a language i understand 💚
Yes, lots of wire was applied. It's a bit risky during the summer as the branches may die off on the Picea, but it should do well with some extra care. The wiring in total took a little more than an hour, so it was fast work. 😅
This video came just at the right time because I have one and I was wondering what time of year I should be styling and wiring I like your style of wiring where you double up enabling easier wiring of the smaller branches at the end a video showing that technique would be fantastic please
@@richardstack2853 that's fantastic! The best time to wire and cut back Picea would be in the autumn/winter seasons. Not many people use that wiring technique but I will try to get a demonstration video in the works. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate you being here 👍
Thank you for that a video would be very helpful I have a disability which means one arm is very weak any other arm is not much better when wiring I find it difficult to hold the wire around the trunk to continue around the other branches using the two branch principal I am used to finding Solutions and with the inspiration from this video I was wondering if I went round the trunk with the wire twisting it therefore making a complete loop around the trunk then continuing along one branch with the two pieces of wire One Piece at a Time therefore using a thinner piece of wire but because you are using thinner wire it will be easier to continue around the branch do you think I would do any harm to the trunk tying The Wire around the trunk doing each branch separately on ignoring the two branch principal regards Richard
@richardstack2853 I am constantly trying to find ways to make it easier. The method shown and what you have described are pretty much identical. And they shouldn't cause any issues to the tree unless it's left unchecked. The 2-branch principle is most used for a cleaner look, especially for trees like spruce when the wire could very well be on for a year or so, or trees that are about to go into a show. I have problems with my hands, so I will always choose the easier option; otherwise, my hands could be swollen for days, rendering them useless.
Thank you I will give that a try I have found numerous ways of getting around my disability one way is using clothes peg to hold the wire at one end which works on thinner wire on thicker wire and bigger branches I use tarpaulin clips the type you see on market stalls I put masking tape round the ends of the clip because they tend to be Sharp also I have found a charity which makes gadgets for disabled people and they have taken all my branch cutters and scissors etc and made them all spring loaded so when I release they open like the the secateurs you can buy I have tried purchasing spring loaded tools but they are only available in Japan and postage and packing Make them very expensive
@WolfgangKeim1 Absolutely, if you want to take the wire off sooner. The thing with Picea is, though, not many understand how the branches actually work. Where with most other trees the branch will thicken and then hold, with Picea the branches need more manipulation causing minor breaks within the cambium, and as this heals the branches will begin to hold.

Really enjoyed this video and seeing the progress of this tree. Glad to see that it's to be continued.
Thank you for watching. The tree still has a long way to go but is coming along nicely. I have more spruce videos coming soon 👀
Great video! It's been fun watching this tree develop this past year. Can't wait for the next update!
Thanks manny. More to come soon as its ready 😁

El árbol ganó mucho con la sustitución del ápice.
Buen trabajo.
Salud!
Gracias. Debería verse muy bien en un par de años.
Those results were totally unexpected! But it was definitely worth watching. 😊

Hits the spot doesn't it 😅
Inspiring work. May I ask how many Litres the tree was (for sizing) I would like to try.
Thank you. I believe it was a 5litre pot. If your going to give it a go then best time of year for this work on spruce is late autumn/winter

I would recommend to bend the branches 25% further down than you like it. Piceas will spring back. Nice work though
