How to feed your Bonsai trees
In this video, we will explore the reasons behind feeding our bonsai trees. It is not that we are all doing it incorrectly, but many of us may not fully comprehend the advantages of feeding or the underlying reasons for doing so.

@@Rojin_Bonsai Nice tree,i use to follow tour videos,i Saw its devellopment. I AM a begginer on bonsai its always good to learn with others.keep the good work and thanks you.greetings from Portugal
Looking at how white makes your trees stand out ❤
Definitely an improvement 😁
Inspiring work. May I ask how many Litres the tree was (for sizing) I would like to try.
Thank you. I believe it was a 5litre pot. If your going to give it a go then best time of year for this work on spruce is late autumn/winter
@@Rojin_Bonsai Thank You 🙏
Excellent!!!
@@growclipbonsaiforseniors1951 thanks Tom 😊
Nicely done callan, the white is a great choice
@@thebonsaiprojectkernow thanks Dan. Should make the videos alot more brighter
Nice Callan 👊
Thanks andy 👍
Looking good in white Callan
Thanks Xav. Still alot of work to be done to the studio but the filming area is now complete 😁
Love the vibe on this Callan
Thanks Jason
What is the name of the cultivar?
Japanese Mountain Maple 'Acer Palmatum
Your morning coffee and watering your trees. What more can a person ask for.
My favourite time of the day 😁
Nice Callan
Thanks andy
Something about early birds and worms.....🤔🤔🤣
Just the best time of the day to water your trees 😂
Great video! Can't believe i missed this one on release!
Thank you. You may have been late to the party but this video isn't going anywhere 😅
Superb!!!
Thanks Tom 😁
Stunning mate
@@thebonsaiprojectkernow thanks Dan 👍
The Norway spruce that came to the collection in poor health a year or so ago (as you may remember) has come a long way after making a full recovery. We now have the foundation to work on and develop over the next few years before it goes into a nice shallow pot.
I run my hose through one of those filters since I also use it to top up the koi pond (together with bottles of dechlorinator) 👍
I have found it to be an absolute must-have.
Do they need replacing very often or are they kind of a one off purchase ? My tap water is like milk colour lol
Hey, the one in the video will do about 600 liters. As for replacing the filter, it depends on how much you water and what your tree needs. If your tap water is milky white but tastes and smells fine, it should still be okay to use. But if it tastes or smells bad, I'd recommend contacting your local water supplier.
Nice Callan 👊👊
Thanks andy 👍
Excellent!!!
Thanks Tom 😁
Foist!
Indeed you was 😅
That spray attachment looks nice and fine . Do you know the brand of it . Cheers .
Il see if I can find it for you
@@Rojin_Bonsai no worries mate found it of your watering video . Nice one .
@@snox7320 perfect. It's a good hose head and I have had some expensive Japanese watering lances to compare it to. This ones just as good
Thanks for the simple to follow advice re types of fertiliser. I'm only a beginner so am very envious of your trees!!
Thank you for watching. We all started as beginners, and everyone has to start somewhere.
I really enjoyed this video 😊 dome great advice given to
Thank you for watching 😁
Good tip Callan
@@danielfonseca5007 thanks Daniel. Should last around 400litres and only cost £10 to replace the filter. But there are more costly filters that need changing less frequently
way better nice work.
Thank you, I really should do an update on this tree soon
Nice Callan 👊👊
@@Bonsaicrazy thanks andy 👍
Good way of working... Is now a good time to prune and use wire for a juniper tree? I am in the Middle East and it is currently summer
You may perform some light pruning to allow light into the interior. At this time, wiring can be done throughout the year.
@@Rojin_Bonsai many thanks 🙏🙏
Very helpful and informative Callan. Thanks for sharing and also giving us a look at some of your inspiring trees :-)
Thank you I tried to pack in as much as possible while trying to keep it simple. 😀
Have you any videos or photos of your Spruce at 1:48 please Callan? Great looking tree.

Great information, Callan. Excellent little tutorial.
Thank you for watching I really do appreciate it 😁 the tutorials saga is well on its way
Catching up on videos, Callan.
No worries Tom. I've got a ton of videos to catch up on. I feel like there's way too many of them. 😅
very concise and accurate Callan. the don'ts were important to hear, i always back off come high summer due to the salt in the fertilizer. never done seaweed drenches....do you notice a definite difference in growth (even subtle is significant imo )?
Thanks, Jon. It's definitely best to take a break from feeding if high temperatures are above 30 degrees Celsius for long periods. Salt buildup can accumulate quickly, especially in trees that are repotted less regularly. I would use something like an empty tea bag to help reduce salt. Liquid seaweed is an absolute must-have for me; I almost attribute my success in growing to it. I don't notice any faster growth, but when combined with a granular feed on rotation, you can definitely see a difference compared to just sticking to granular. Plus, it makes the trees look more vibrant in their color. 😅
@@Rojin_Bonsai I'll have to add seaweed to my regime next year i think ( i definitely will). Thankyou Callan
@maylucriandesigns If you can get some calcified seaweed, adding some when repotting can help promote a strong root system and vigorous growth. It's something I didn't mention in the video. 😉
@@Rojin_Bonsai do you use cold pressed seaweed feed?
@maylucriandesigns The granular seaweed? Yes, I have used that in the past. It attracts a lot of flies, though. 😅
Great advice cheers
Thank you for watching

Thanks andy 👍
❤ , its a beautiful tree 🎄
@@fletcherlewis thanks. Should be alot nicer next year once it's recovered 😁
@@Rojin_Bonsai I've got a Trident Maple I thought was dead , nearly threw it in the bin , packed the roots with sphagnum moss and left it in the greenhouse all winter . It's recovering but it's still touch and go 👍🏻
From my understanding trident maple can be a bit touch and go at times. Placing the tree in the green house for the winter was a good move as they can't handle prolonged hard frosts as they are full of water even during dormancy. But some trees are just a little to fussy
