I can add a few things I forgot to mention: - Walt did an amazing job and the drums sound amazing! - The bass sounded different, just like the production as a whole compared to their other albums I think - The song overall has a very ghostly and spooky vibe (Maybe I _did_ say that?) - Lyrically, I do believe it is a character, presumably the one (Father?) who died, and therefore also maybe a haunting ghost. And maybe also from the perspective of those left after the death? Also after listening to this a few times, I've certainly gotten into the song way more than on my first listen. The first listen was still very cool but I now feel that I dig the song a lot more. I have pre-ordered the album and I think you should too!
According to their website the theme is much more about family members turning against each other when a mother / father passes away. (Something I am well familiar with).
at first i thought it would be the last Opeth album, however I discovered this is simply just the theme of the album. It follows a story about a wealthy conservative patriarch set in post WW1, who before his death, set out his "Last Will and Testament" that revealed many shocking family secrets. I think it is a really cool and interesting concept, very excited to listen when it drops.
@@dirtydan2007 No offence, but I dont get this outlook on their music. What was lacking of balls in making such a different and awesome album like ICV?
@@petternordberg2883 ICV is an awesome album, I am not taking away from it. This new song just sounds like an ICV song but with more metal injected into it, is all I was saying. You know how heavy metal can give you this primal ape feeling of how you can run through a wall? That's what I meant by balls, and ICV did not have many of those moments. That's not saying it wasn't great, because it is.

Incredible track. Opeth has a genius way of making every album its own identity yet similar
Indeed

To me this track sounds like a cross between the last album and Watershed. I like it!

For some reason, his growls feel like “BloodBath” Mikael…right?😅
Yeah! Blood Bath is peak Mike growl.
Exactly!
While heavy, not heavy in the way their old albums used to be.
No of course not. But it's got way more chug. This song really turned out how I thought it would. Which is wierd but cool
It reminds me of the last album they released, but with a bigger set of balls.

The come back on the old Line because the turn 70’s wasn’t a good way. New song is very interessing
No leak, very purposeful
