I had no idea that it was a band that was founded in 2016. I assumed that was it. Because that person was in fact me when I was in high school more than a decade ago, listenning to Opeth...while sleeping.
Not enough young people appreciate music. They appreciate singers who are made up to be famous but ignore the band in the back. For people who love this kind of music, it’s about the music. All of it. The guitars, drums, bass, keyboards. Hearing the soundscape. Once you actually hear it, it begins the journey into what music really is. And yes, I’m a gen x and find most pop music to be throwaway music. Lol

Okay so I love Sleep Token and get the comparison, but no offense to them they don’t even crack my top fifty musical artists LOL; I'm sure that they would if my list was more purely Metal but Orchestral along with Jazz and Electronic as well as Folk not to mention all of their fusion genres with Metal had to have their healthy amount of entries within the rankings... and throughout all of that Opeth still ranks at number three overall on my list barely behind Igorrr themselves at a very close second to Ne Obliviscaris.

I would argue Sleep Token is a watered-down Tool. Like, it's relatively experimental, super easy to get to for non-metalheads, like a good gateway drug. I would say today's Opeth is Ne Obliviscaris
