This video is awesome and I've enjoyed it, but the horses hooves clip clopping literally had me visibly relaxing. Deep breath in and out, sigh, and shoulder drop as my back relaxed. I love it. Also, the horse looking to see if it was clear before going. What an awesome animal. Disney thinks of everything!

I really thought #1 was going to be the Mark Twain whistle. It's one of those iconic sounds you can hear from outside the park and gets me all excited. I also expected the "tick-tock" from the Small World clock. I love that sound. I used to arrive early for my shifts and hear it from an empty Main Street. Two others of my favorites are the Big Thunder train whistle and chugging sounds and the whole combination of sounds from the Matterhorn. Howling wind, the roaring of Harold the abominable snowman, the waterfalls, the bobsleds racing by, and the screaming of the people.
Back in the late 50's though the late 60's, we lived from 4 miles then 2 miles away from Disneyland. You could hear that steamboat whistle though out Anaheim. An iconic sound.

My favorite sounds are the little buildings off Main Street, with the “painless” dentist, the piano instructor and the hotel. I love just taking a moment to sit still and wait for these little treasures, and they are a great reminder of Walt’s love for attention to detail. It always amazes me how many people don’t know these little gems are even there! I absolutely love them.

Part 2 of the best sounds of Disneyland is something I strongly suggest you do. Nothing beats the sounds on Main Street. When I walk into Disneyland, it brings me back to a time when I wasn't born yet and looking at it now makes me appreciate it even more. The sounds on Center Street from above add a lot of charm to start my Disney day.
Thank you for your videos and for your kind message about loss. We recently went to Disneyland for the first time since our 18 year old son passed away. It was a bitter sweet day for our family. He absolutely loved Disneyland and we used to have annual passes and went all the time. It was his favorite place. For our family it was a day filled with happy memories, new adventures and at times excruciating sadness because we were missing him so much. So hard to explain but it was joy, love and agony all rolled into one. He will forever be in our hearts and part of our time spent at Disneyland.

I live my life creating laughter and wonder with my comedy and magic and when I have a beer in the evening I 9 times out of 10 raise a toast to my mate and the way you worded it gave me comfort that he would be proud of me. Former WDWRR engineer (and many other things) here! The noise the steam train makes is called a "Blowdown Procedure". It opens a valve in the bottom of the boiler that ejects any contaminants (like minerals) that precipitate out of the heated water in the boiler. Very noisy due to the rapid release of water and steam under immense pressure into the blowdown pit. You definitely do not want to be near the pipe or pit during this procedure . Keeps the inside of the boiler clean of sediments and prevents scale from forming. IIRC this is done by the fireman in the left seat, engineer sits on the right.

I was 12 the last time I went to Disneyland, and even back then, I loved the sound and ambiance of Frontier land, grizzly peaks, and adventure land. Those sights and sounds are the things I remember most about Disneyland. Anyways, I just started College and I saw this video and memories of the ambiance of Disney and my childhood started to fly back at me. Thank you for providing me with a little nostalgia 🥲

These sounds evoke such pleasant memories. They emotionally put you back in the time when you had no worries, no deadlines, only a sense of freedom knowing good things are coming your way. I had a file on my work computer with all my favorite sounds. Number one for me was the train whistle and narration. Now if I could have only carried the scents... popcorn, Mexican food, the scent of water from Splash Mountain or the lake. The cookie scent on Main Street...

I was meant to watch this video today & hear your special message Chris. I lost my dear sweet cousin Chrissy early this morning. She was treated by some family members to visit Disneyland for the first time ever in 2019 to celebrate her 50th birthday. I sadly wasn't able to join my cousin on that trip. But last year I did get to visit Disneyland & I sent her a photo of me with Winnie-the-Pooh whom was her favorite Disney character. I'm visiting Disneyland later this month and this trip will be such a special time for me in so many ways. But omg thank you for what you do Chris.

Last October I was in charge of my disabled grandson 7 years old, can't walk or talk, we were in tomorrow land by the water rock/ball at 11pm. Not much people around and the music was so soothing (kind of a tinkle sound) that he sat there for 40 minutes watching all the neon lights and listening to the music - I will never forget that sound now.
My top 7 are 1. Train conductor and train whistle. 2. Pirates blue bayou sounds Banjo! 3. Main Street cars. 4. Howl of wind on the Matterhorn 5. Tiki room birds opening banter… “my siestas are getting shorter and shorter” 6. Monorail 7. Big thunder! (Bonus 8. Screams on the drop at Splash Mtn) Most magical place for me. My audio therapy!

Ah, Chris, you made me tear up when you were talking about those we've lost. I lost my sister 9 years ago, when she was only 39. There are days and times that it hurts to remember her, but I have moved on in a healthy way. You reminded me of those who have a harder time than I have had in putting my love for her in a healthy place. God Bless Them! I wish you the peace that I have.

16:04 that bell is my childhood. First, I was a horse girl and loved saying hi to the horses and giving them pets. Not sure if you can do that now. But that bell is like...the sound of the start of your Disneyland day!

I really appreciate the amount of detail the Imagineers go into with even the music and sounds, and I really appreciate it as someone who is very sensory orientated with sounds. Couple more are the sounds of the big thunder mountain train whistling or the Toontown fireworks factory. In DCA, there is the "3..2...1... go" from the Incredicoaster pier or Mr potato head talking in front of Midway Mania. Keep up the awesome videos

Normally I love hearing your encouraging words and just keep watching, but this time I broke down crying because it’s exactly what I needed to hear. You said all the right things. Thanks for including these in your videos❤️ I never got to take him to Disneyland like I wanted but I know he’ll be with us in spirit while we’re there.
some of my favorites include - the sound of Big Thunder speeding down the rails. the sound Pluto makes. The sound of the last "click" before going down the first drop on Pirates. The ear pressure difference when you first enter Main Street square from under the railroad bridges. It's such a good feeling / sound.
Great list! There are some that didn't make my personal list but after this video I'll definitely be paying more attention to them. If I could throw in a suggestion for part 2, I would have to say the "Hurry back!" at the end of Haunted Mansion. I love the history behind it, it gives me chills, it makes me smile, and it gives me a sense of comfort, like an old friend saying "Until we meet again."

Great video Chris. But I got to say the noise the floating bridge makes on tom sawyer Island. My 1st trip in 1963 that was my favorite place. There was POC, or New Orleans squre at thT time.
We stayed at the hotel you noted in this video seven years ago. It was conveniently close. Loved hearing what other people find favorite sounds. I love them all. One that wasn't mentioned this time is the whistle of the Mark Twain. Thank you also for the kind words and virtual hug as my Mom passed away two weeks ago. She was 93.

I’m from Florida and we don’t have the banjo in our Pirates. But there is a banjo in The American Adventure at Epcot, so that’s what I thought of when I heard it.
Chris, I totally blame you that I have to travel to Disneyland again (around 20 times since 1969) just to enjoy all the magical sounds. I also vote for the banjo, crikets and frogs croaks but also the distant sound of the plates and quiet conversations at the Blue Bayou. Hope to see you there. Greetings from Mexico City

My top 5: 5. The old sound the tickets made (who who) when you went through the Disney main gate. Some phones make that sound for text messages and it makes my heart jump whenever I’ve heard it. 4. The whistle of the submarine in the Nemo ride. (And what used to be The Submarine voyage and a childhood favorite) 3. The drums of the tiki room. 2. The Star Tours jingle. 1. The bird and jungle sounds from the Indy cue/ Jungle Cruise.
My absolute favorite is the magic wand noise when they scan your ticket to go through the turnstiles. I know as soon as I hear it my day to day struggles are over. It's all pixie dust and love until they make me leave ❤️
GREAT!!! I’m particularly tickled that the clip clop of the horse (Jack) was included. (Also I can affirm from first hand experience that Jack can be stubborn to get clip clopping down Main Street! 😅)
The sound changes over time too. For a time they only used shoes covered in Nylon, and that changed the sound. And of course if the horse is barefoot, it sounds much different. Personally I'm glad they use regular shoes again.
Those were great sounds and some I had forgotten but my favorite sound is from Peter Pan and that is when Peter says “Here we go!” I always think of that when I think of Disneyland.

I watched this yesterday but have been thinking about your message all day today. I can't thank you enough for this particular message. It had me sobbing, as it hit so close to home. I pretty much hide from everyone the anguish I feel every day. Words can't express what your message in this video meant to me. Although it doesn't change how I feel, it was appreciated from the very bottom of what's left of my heart. ♥

Ah, Chris, you made me tear up when you were talking about those we've lost. I lost my sister 9 years ago, when she was only 39. There are days and times that it hurts to remember her, but I have moved on in a healthy way. You reminded me of those who have a harder time than I have had in putting my love for her in a healthy place. God Bless Them! I wish you the peace that I have.

Love all these sounds ! Not my exact top 5 but for real I would have NEVER guessed that #1 sound. Wow!!!! It is amazing! My husband guessed that the turnstile clicks would be number one because it reminds us of the beginning of our trip!!!🎉

His sudden and unexpected death hits me some days and makes me appreciate that I am still here to share life with my family and friends. No one responsible has been found yet. Keep doing what you do. Thank you for this video,such a great idea. I totally agree with #1…..once we rode pirates, we DID feel like we were on vacation. The smell of chlorine when you walk in the ride AND, we named the banjo player….Fred …and always say hi to him as we go by. Hi Fred!
16:04 that bell is my childhood. First, I was a horse girl and loved saying hi to the horses and giving them pets. Not sure if you can do that now. But that bell is like...the sound of the start of your Disneyland day!

I really appreciate the amount of detail the Imagineers go into with even the music and sounds, and I really appreciate it as someone who is very sensory orientated with sounds. These sounds help me feel calm and centered, especially on rough days. So thank you for taking the time to make a video like this because it truly made my day!!❤

The noise big thunder makes when it flies by the queue is by far my favorite!
Couple more are the sounds of the big thunder mountain train whistling or the Toontown fireworks factory. In DCA, there is the "3..2...1... go" from the Incredicoaster pier or Mr potato head talking in front of Midway Mania. Keep up the awesome videos
Cannot believe that the Disneyland Railroad locomotive's whistle and bell sounds did not make the list. Definitely top 3 on my list.

Chris, I procrastinated watching your video this last week because I lost a very dear loved one last week suddenly. Normally I love hearing your encouraging words and just keep watching, but this time I broke down crying because it’s exactly what I needed to hear. You said all the right things. Thanks for including these in your videos❤️ I never got to take him to Disneyland like I wanted but I know he’ll be with us in spirit while we’re there.
Legitimately shook that the sound of Big Thunder Mountain train going by isn't up there, gotta by my favorite.
some of my favorites include - the sound of Big Thunder speeding down the rails. the sound Pluto makes. The sound of the last "click" before going down the first drop on Pirates. The ear pressure difference when you first enter Main Street square from under the railroad bridges. It's such a good feeling / sound.

Great list! There are some that didn't make my personal list but after this video I'll definitely be paying more attention to them.
If I could throw in a suggestion for part 2, I would have to say the "Hurry back!" at the end of Haunted Mansion. I love the history behind it, it gives me chills, it makes me smile, and it gives me a sense of comfort, like an old friend saying "Until we meet again."

I love the whistle tweet when you enter the park, the ambient matterhorn sounds of the abominable snowman, the "hurry back" you can hear as you walk past the exit to haunted mansion, and I miss the adventureland tarzan's treehouse music

Great video Chris. But I got to say the noise the floating bridge makes on tom sawyer Island. My 1st trip in 1963 that was my favorite place. There was POC, or New Orleans squre at thT time.
We stayed at the hotel you noted in this video seven years ago. It was conveniently close. Loved hearing what other people find favorite sounds. I love them all. One that wasn't mentioned this time is the whistle of the Mark Twain. Thank you also for the kind words and virtual hug as my Mom passed away two weeks ago. She was 93.

I thought for sure one of the sounds would’ve been when you scan your ticket at the gate, the sweet whistle! And it’s funny that the banjo is not even played by old man! Love this, thank you!
I’m from Florida and we don’t have the banjo in our Pirates. But there is a banjo in The American Adventure at Epcot, so that’s what I thought of when I heard it.
I do count Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln as an attraction. One of my favorites.
Chris, I totally blame you that I have to travel to Disneyland again (around 20 times since 1969) just to enjoy all the magical sounds. I also vote for the banjo, crikets and frogs croaks but also the distant sound of the plates and quiet conversations at the Blue Bayou. Hope to see you there. Greetings from Mexico City

5. The old sound the tickets made (who who) when you went through the Disney main gate. Some phones make that sound for text messages and it makes my heart jump whenever I’ve heard it.
4. The whistle of the submarine in the Nemo ride. (And what used to be The Submarine voyage and a childhood favorite)
3. The drums of the tiki room.
2. The Star Tours jingle.
1. The bird and jungle sounds from the Indy cue/ Jungle Cruise.

My absolute favorite is the magic wand noise when they scan your ticket to go through the turnstiles. I know as soon as I hear it my day to day struggles are over. It's all pixie dust and love until they make me leave ❤️

GREAT!!! I’m particularly tickled that the clip clop of the horse (Jack) was included. (Also I can affirm from first hand experience that Jack can be stubborn to get clip clopping down Main Street! 😅)
The sound changes over time too. For a time they only used shoes covered in Nylon, and that changed the sound. And of course if the horse is barefoot, it sounds much different. Personally I'm glad they use regular shoes again.

Also the snoring bear in cave in Country Bear jamboree !
Those were great sounds and some I had forgotten but my favorite sound is from Peter Pan and that is when Peter says “Here we go!” I always think of that when I think of Disneyland.
