Jack Spirko of the Survival Podcast has an excellent system for fuel that I implemented about a year ago. Buy 12 gas cans (I prefer the 6 gallon red plastic ones from Menards), fill them and store them in your garage (I built a shelf to house them) and then dump one of them in your vehicle each month and then go refill it. That way you always have fuel that's still good. I just numbered mine 1-12. This doesn't need to be an all at once purchase. Buy one can and fill it per month until you have 12. That way you have a rolling 72 gallon fuel supply that doesn't go bad.
At this point, I have more pewpews and brass than one person can handle. I do need to talk to the man I buy from about more --15 and 20-gage (yep misspelled 😊) brass. I have put up No tre-spassing signs in English and Espanola on my front gate and fence. I don't want anyone to misunderstand that they are Not Welcome.
Great program today! Yes would be great to know how you prep for a trip. Yes, following Christ is the most important thing for all of us for sure! God bless The Mac's!
Part of my preparation has been to buy 2 two person sleeping bags, which fit perfectly on my queen size bed. If propane gets ridiculously expensive or unavailable I'll still be warm and cozy even on the coldest night. I have two solar collectors that heat my place when the sun shines so I'll be comfortable most of the time with no propane. When I first tried using the sleeping bag on my bed with no heat on at night I liked it so much I've been doing it every winter😅. I cut my propane consumption by around half. However I learned a 32 degree sleeping bag wasn't warm enough for me on some nights so I got another bag to put inside the other. I've been using covers but they slide around on a sleeping bag. Other advantages are how much faster you warm up in the sleeping bag, less cold spots, and the extra padding is nice. Just thinking about it makes me want to go to bed.😂 A one-person bag would be warmer but there's not enough room for me to sleep in the positions I sleep in. The 40 some dollar 2 person bags were actually a little cheaper than the one person bag too. For around $100 I sleep better all winter and have already saved more money than I invested. This might be a little crazy but I think very good preparation for what appears to be coming.
My dad was an avid duck hunter. Their sleeping bags were cotton on the outside, not the slippery man-made material they use now. I wish I had his sleeping bags. They did have a metal shed the men and boys all slept in, but never heard any of them complain about it being too cold. Complaints about men snoring but not about the cold 😂. That group of men and their sons went hunting every year.
There's a major need u left out: water. There's so much u can buy & u need it very often: I have well water. Live in the sticks; It would be a terrible mistake if anyone like looters were to enter my compound with over 109 bikers loaded.... We don't want to hurt anyone unless in self defense....
I haven't had a vacation in 8 years! Can't afford it. I will not get a credit card and be a slave to the banks. If I can't pay outright for something, I don't get it.
We haven't traveled in 5 years, which has been tough. It's something we wanted to experience with our teens now that they're older. I do have a CC however, as we moved rural and most of our stuff to build up our preps has been online. I Hate it, but preparing to pull the plug soon. And we don't keep a balance, ever. Any chance we get it's cash.
We need more MEN like you! It is amazing how much you care for your family, it is nice to see that that actually exists! You're family is very lucky to have such a caring Husband & Father. God Bless you all 🙏
Good info. My husband is always planning for our future - this summer he installed a 500 gallon underground propane tank so we can take advantage of summer prices.
Today.. I bought brass brass and more brass along with fuel stock. Vacuum sealed in jars powdered milk, freeze dried potatoes and great northern beans.
I Would love to see your packing details. You never know who you can help by your knowledge. Always good info and practical tips. Thank you. May God continue to bless you and your family and America!!🇺🇲🙏💗
Thanks Colby, I think we all shld see the proper prepper way to pack for a long road trip! Praying for traveling mercies for y'all. Can't wait for vacation so all of us can share it with you. Love & prayers 💜 🙏
We try to purchase a little everything to get us over a period of uncertainty. We purchased a pallet of empty propane tanks at an auction and have filled them up so check! My husband buys ammo everytime he goes to town, check! Powdered protein for the Amish store, check! Purchased spare tires and changing out tires on both vehicles, check! We love your shows, keep up the good work!
Yes, please show us what you pack to travel away from home. We just returned from a week long trip 10 hours from home and I felt like I packed everything but the kitchen sink. So glad to be home and it was a good trip but I was on hyper alert the whole time. Thank you for your posts.
I greatly appreciate your frequent videos to keep me on track. I don't know if I'll ever have a family like yours but I definitely became a much more godly man since I came across your channel.
I’m in Hawaii. Refilled 2 propane tanks and price has gone up 60%! Also, finally got my 23qt pressure canner! 2 more things ticked off the list! Thanks for all you do!
Well, I have what I have and that's it. Can't do much more. Some of us are on Strict Budgets. With Prices going up. Funds have become tighter. I'm interested in the EMP info your talking about cuz I have to go to another state 2 months out of the yr to take care of my 97 yr old mom. There's 6 of us so we take 2 months each! So for me to drive...the more time goes on the more I keep thinking am I gonna make it home this time! It is a weird time we're living in. And I think we should be telling others about Christ everywhere we go!! The time is short... I think the Lord's return is soon!! Also I'd like to see u do a video on what u pack cuz I'm a prepper but when I'm at my mom's there's not much food or water there. Once again thanks for your great testimony of living for Christ and showing others how to be a great husband and dad!! Our younger men need this so bad!! God bless and I will be praying for your family and a safe trip!!
Could you take some to leave there for her when you leave? May be a great time to talk to the other five about doing the same. You all could have her prepped up in no time. Great you still have your mom at 97 and great she has 6 kids to take care of her. God bless you all.
Well, the implant just got done in my mouth. They took out the stitches today. So I had to come up with another $1950 for the second installment because I already paid the other half when they did the surgery on my mouth to remove the bad tooth for it to heal for six months before they can put the implant. So since I spend so much money, I’m gonna have to behave myself and buy much for Prepping for at least maybe two weeks except for actual needs. Thought about buying some more ammo but I got to thinking you know I got quite a bit in right now I need to just slow down and some of my prepping but I have been freeze dry, and still quite a bit like the potatoes were really cheap so some of my dead slice some of my dead chunk, I do have a small garden and it’s just starting because it can’t grow in the summertime. It’s too hot here. But I have been buying things that have been very economical for vegetables and fruit so I prep with that. Extra leftovers it people are tired of us adults trash that that’s gonna make another full meal because you cook too much so it’s going in the freeze dryer. I’m thinking about making some spaghetti this weekend with spaghetti squash and I know I can’t eat it all because I’m taking care of myself this weekend. Kids don’t have to put up with mom for Friday and Saturday night so I will be restrained the extra that for later cause it helps with my carbs, not getting to hide which messes with my sugars with regular spaghetti and spaghetti squash works just as good
Great information. God bless and keep each. Knowing HIM as Lord and SAVIOR is my sanity, without HIM, I don't know if I could make it. I'm trusting to the cross.
Iv got EMP shield for my jeep only but the key youll need to protect to and remember when it happens dont just go for that key right away its going to be unstable for 6 hours or so, or another one may happen in a few days later.
Bear in mind that tires have a degrading lifespan. Meaning they dry rot in storage. Always check the date of manufacture on the tires. It is not uncommon for “new” tires to be two or three years old.

Cody, many years ago my FIL was going from Georgia to California. He packed everything he could think of that he might need including a transmission for the Hudson he was driving. He got there and back with no problems until five miles from home and had a flat. This was 1953. God was protecting them the whole way. They had just lost a son in England and was taking their son that was in the Navy back to California. They were gone a month. They left three younger kids home in the care of their older daughter. They also did fine. She was 16. Others were 9,6, and 4.
I enjoy your Videos and newsletters. I find them informative and some of your suggestions we have implemented. I wish that we had more space to store these things. But. We are doing the best we can for our family. So Thank you. 😊
We ordered a gas/propane generator today and it will be hooked to the house and we can run 200 watts. We have a well, and we really needed this to remove the worry about getting water.
@@garyweightman5936 that’s a good point, I should look into the EMP shield. I’m also getting a water bathtub storage bladder that holds 100 gallons. I have some oil, but not enough. I do need more Kristen for my emergency stove. I ordered more tvp ground beef and another#10 can of good cheese sauce. Was able to get new smallish backpacks to build more go bags for other family members. I want an emp shield, but so far out of my budget...
Been “prepping” for 20 plus years. Still not “there” yet. Those who have been doing this for a while know what I mean. Just keep plugging at it and do what you can.
If you have a capacity to do so buy a older truck carborated simple electronics and put a battery disconnect on it circuits get fried when they are under charge
You guys are lucky to be able to buy extra. I cant even buy 1 extra fuel source. I also dont have a spare tire. I have a tire but buying a rim or a doughnut tire isnt happening. I pray i dont get a flat. Im 63 and disabled so i cant even change it if i did have the extra! Thanks for info.
I’m curious how you pack for the road. My wife always thinks I’m crazy because of everything I take. However, I know if the firecracker pops when we are on the road, it will all be worth it. If we’re visiting our grandkid, we are 250 miles from home. That would take two 60 year olds a long time to walk home. Especially depending on the weather and the time of year we are in. But we have to try. Never give up. Never.
Loved hearing you taught your son to change tire! Hands on is always best teacher! Teaching our next generation is vastly important! Builds strength and endurance because something may happen when they have to think/act for themselves. Always great to have them remember "hey dad/mom showed me..."; plus may not always have youtube university available to search and follow fix-it/how-to videos! Thanks for reminding us about our reliance on and relationship with God. A relationship with Jesus should be the most important thing to do.
Colby, you are a wonderful man. I just love your family. Yes, please do a list. That would be great. Another great video. Well done! Have a great day tomorrow. Much Love to you and your family. Karen ❤🙏
New to the channel. My 1st view. And 1st comment. EMP shield is definitely a good idea. I didn't know they made one for a vehicle. Im making an anti emp shield for my portable generator. And another thing some might think that a good cordless tools would be a good idea. Never know when you might have to fix or build something for the house during a long power outage. Not to mention you might have to fix something for your friend or neighbor. Its beyond me that people still think they can depend on the government to save them in a shtf situation. Chance favors the prepared mind. And hello from Western Kentucky
Great video as always. In an upcoming video can you show where to view the items you mention in your videos? Refreshing to hear a pleasant person talking about being more moral and really doing something for his family and others.
Following your lead, in Virginia it's a sales tax free weekend. The state added a Hurricane Prepared items, so picking a generator, gas cans, tarps, tape etc.... Getting prepared for what ever the emergency.

I have old school hurricane lanterns, so I always have some fuel for those. Should buy more, though.
Amen Cody, God Bless, have a wonderful time with your family!
Yes, I'd like for you to share your packing details. THANKS!!! Yours and your wife's channels rock!
We're in Tylertown, MS. Hope you are well.
Groceries Fuel Lighters Also Jared up Spaghetti Sauce Chicken and Chicken Broth. Saved Egg shells and Flower seeds. Busy!!
Thank you for sharing your wealth of information - you totally rock
Great tips!!
Yes we like to watch how you prepare for a trip.
You have amazing idea to have on hand but some of us can’t afford all of the items needed. Truly enjoy your videos! Praying for our everyone too. ☺️
I’ve been debating on a freeze dryer, because we are in our 70s and I didn’t know if it would be worth it. I finally decided to buy one.
God bless the Macs!
Colby, you are a wonderful man. I just love your family. Yes, please do a list. That would be great. Another great video. Well done! Have a great day tomorrow. Much Love to you and your family. Karen ❤🙏
Interested in prepping for going out of town thanks.
Six children!, God Bless You!
YEP! I bought a ten gallon gas tank. Filled it up. Its in the shed ready to go.
Excellent video! Things to think about.
Interested in that video on preparing for a trip. We drive to/from Texas to SWFL 1-2x per year with 5 kids 😊
Be sure to pack potassium iodide tablets for your trip. Blessings to you and your family...Abe Azar
I’m definitely interested in how you pack for your trip.
Have an old truck with a carburetor! Older than 90's or old mechanical diesel.
Thank you for your information. Have a safe trip.!! GOD be with you ❤❤
Great video as always.
Prayers for a safe trip..enjoy and make good memories!!
Great Show . 😊
This was awesome thank you so much for the great info
Please let us know if the EMP shield works
I prefer getting ready to the point we concise and brief because that we all have lots to do.
