I am really grateful for all the wonderful information you give, and I also appreciate that you don't act like it's terrible if somebody doesn't eat entirely organic foods, processed and cooked only at home.
I'm trying to get more healthy foods into my family. I feel as if you are on my side, unlike some of the"preachy" cooks who try to make you feel bad if you don't follow every one of their rules and guidelines.
      Thank you, Mary.

Thank you for sharing. To me, I grew up learning how to stay well-stocked and living as "naturally" as my budget allows. I didn't realize how far, we as Americans, have removed ourselves from our traditional country roots until about 15 years ago when I was asked to "help" with a group of newly married ladies in our church... None of them knew how to budget, plan meals, or prepare for emergencies. They had never heard of "stocking up" a cupboard or real "scratch" cooking. Schools no longer teach these life skills, and neither do parents (many of whom don't know themselves.) And canning basic tomato sauce and pickles was beyond their imagination! Your channel has been a great resource! So thank you for doing this!

Education of basic life skills such as cooking ,sewing, mending items, gardening proper biology sex education. Younger generations, who are so confused what sex they were conceived and cannot change sex,all this disgusting woke rubbish has damaged education. life skills needs to be brought back without further delay. Those In education need to be retaught proper biological lessons NOT WOKE,and everyday proper life skills.Adults with sound minds need to make a stand and protect children and their education, also adults with mental health problems of gender need proper care and life skills to help them to cope with real life ,not make believe.

Mary, I’ve been in the city for 45 years and I’m in the process of moving back to the old family land about 65 miles away. I’m debt free and because of people like you and Danny and Wanda. And Heidi and Patrick. And Kevin and Sarah. And Jess and Jeremiah. And Al and Gina. And Doug and Stacy. And many others I haven’t mentioned, I have quite the pantry. Now I work with about 10 other women and for the last 11 years I’ve basically preached on preservation and storage. I might as well be talking to my pups. Unbelievable how they only live for the next couple of hours. It just breaks my heart. But I was at the new farm last week and my neighbor drove his tractor over and plowed me a garden and he knows/ knew my whole family. Even my grandparents!! I’m so happy to be able to say that I’ve found freedom. Freedom in life and freedom in Christ. He is the way maker for getting me here now. Love, Wendy 😘💕💕💕Thanks from the bottom of my heart!!

Walmart has a better option than that for powdered milk. It's in the ethnic isle with the Hispanic food. It is Nido Fortificata (hopefully spelled that right). It's made by Nestle in a #10 can and is actually powdered whole milk verses nonfat. Just thought I'd share that. That is what I purchase and have on hand.

Hello Mary. My Grandma Hazel would keep that molasses handy for an after school snack. Remember the original Pepperidge Farm white bread? Gram would make a pot of tea. I would pour some molasses into a small dish and dredge the bread, to enjoy with my tea. Wonderful memories!

Another great video, Mary! I'll say it again, I wish I'd had someone like you in my life when I was a young wife and mother learning to feed her family. Happy to say my pantry is very well stocked in all of these. Yay! Speaking of the pantry, one thing I did recently that has been a real game changer for me is moving all of my pantry items out of my kitchen cabinets and into the large pantry that is next to my kitchen. Having so many food items stored in cupboards, I would often forget what I had because it was out of sight in there and so many things would end up expiring or I'd buy things I already had but didn't know I had. Now I have everything well organized on open shelving in my pantry and I can see everything! I can walk in there and know exactly what I can fix for dinner. I can also see right away what I need to add to my shopping list. I used to keep all of my small kitchen appliances in the pantry but now those are in the cabinets instead. We're making plans to do some remodeling this year and one thing I'm definitely going to do is enlarge the pantry! I'd much rather have a really large pantry and smaller kitchen than have a large kitchen with lots of cabinets where things just seem to get lost and go bad before they get used.

Love this video. A word on the garden destruction. We had over a foot of snow that stayed for about a week and a half. The only thing that survived was the KALE! And boy is it sweet. Surprised the heck out of me. It is still growing strong. So my take is that kale will always be a large part of my garden. Actually I need to dehydrate some of it.

Keep an eye out for the 4 lb box of spaghetti. It's 4, 1 lb sleeves of spaghetti for around $2.50 or 63 ¢ a pound. I like it both for the price and because the plastic sleeves take up less space than the boxes.

Hi Mary, you can make oat milk from the oats too. 1xcup of oats to 4xcups of filtered water 1x pinch of salt, blend for a minute sieve once or twice before putting into sterilised bottle. Keep refrigerated and shack vigorous before use it last for 4 to 6 day's.
You can add the sieved oats with extra oats to make porridge for breakfast.

I always pay attention to the price/oz, /lb, etc.. Usually you will be safe with buying the larger for the better cost savings. However, recently I had to do spice shopping ( I like making my own Taco/Fajita/Chili spice blends) and the( I think it was Ground Cumin) was about half the price of the smaller container so 2.5oz, vs the 4.5oz size. So, ALWAYS pay attention to the price /oz, /lb etc. Larger container/weight does not always equate the better value, sometimes the smallest can be.

That is true. I noticed that also. I remember showing my kids how to look at the prices and figure out which is best.
At local dollar general store it was cheaper to buy 3 small dishwashing liquid bottles than the 1 big one, plus we got an extra 3 Oz.
I hope they are remembering. I'll have to ask. They left my nest a decade ago & a phone call or short visit is just not the same. Haha

as a reminder for people on a tight budget: the rotisserie chickens in some places are priced less per pound than the raw chicken. Costco, for example, sells their rotisserie chicken quite cheaply. these are often loss leaders to get you to come by the store, but you can buy a roasted chicken- take the meat and use that, and throw the bones and scraps in to make broth.
(sadly in many cases you cannot use food stamps for this)

I love your approach. Years ago I changed things out over a very long time. Also keeping basic things around that are processed is part of a prepper pantry. Sugar to make jam, “syrup”, cookies when things are gone on the grocery shelves. The good stuff like honey might not be available but I do opt for cane sugar. I now buy wheat berries, organic whole corn and pink salt in bulk. I started canning meat and beans. Love the molasses tip❤️

It is so wonderful how you make traditional foods accessible to people at all stages of the journey ❤️❤️. I’ve been following your prepper pantry videos for a long time now and I can’t believe how quickly I’ve been able to build up my pantry without going over budget. I’ve been slowly, very slowly at first, buying more and more items in bulk, and this has allowed me to buy excellent quality foods while staying in budget! Now I buy organic unbleached flour, organic whole wheat berries, sucanat, Redmond’s real salt, high quality oils, etc. all because of slowly buying more in bulk. I’m at the point now that I buy almost ALL food items in bulk instead of weekly menu items (except produce and dairy), and I’m spending less than ever because I can wait for a great sale and stock up (I LOVE H‑E‑B!!)…. I even have enough left at the end of the month that I’m saving up to buy half a grass-fed steer at the end of the year. I’m so thrilled with the progress I’ve made, the transformation in how I’m able to grocery shop, and I’m so thankful for all the hard work you put into your videos. My family is so much healthier now because of it 😭❤️

I would like to see some videos on buying restaurant size canned fruit and condiments, and recanning to smaller sizes; I do this with ketchup, tomatoes, peaches, and applesauce but may venture into veggies. @@vickiepowell4664 I buy the big restaurant size cans at Costco or a restaurant supplier- usually about a gallon. Open the can, portion into pints and process in a water bath - just as if I cooked down the tomatoes or applesauce myself. A little more expensive than from scratch but way cheaper than buying 8 or 9 cans from the grocery store. A #10 can is about a gallon and yields 8-9 pints for the pantry shelf.
