  • "There were desperate scenes of families separated and crying out for help, pleading not to be left behind," reported former CBS News correspondent Ed Bradley, as the city of Saigon was evacuated ahead of its fall on April 30, 1975. Bradley's intrepid reporting, detailing the dramatic events of the day the Vietnam War ended, originally aired on the "CBS Evening News."

We hauled Marines from Camp Hansen & Camp Schwab to White Beach. He could have been on a 2 1/2 ton Duce & a Half I was driving, in late March 1975. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sergeant.

They’re fights that couldn’t have been won yet men and women gave up their lives fighting for a lost cause. The similarities of Saigon and Kabul are that people aren’t going to have the time to evacuate while a new power takes over that is hostile to the citizens who live there. The US is trying I get as many loyal afghani people/Americans evacuated before the taliban retakes Kabul while the clock is winding down at a rapid rate.

    What`s going on with the helicopters? Why are they landing on the water, etc.?

    • @vladusoltseff6633
      @vladusoltseff6633 3 года назад +2

      These helicopters were not from US carriers air wings, these were South Vietnamese military choppers. Carriers didn't had enough space on their decks to accommodate so many. They landed them on water and then pilots were saved by sailors from the ships. Also, when they were able to land some of these on the deck, they dumped helicopters immediately after disembarking, to provide space for other ones.
