  • The video does not claim to comprehensively show the public attitudes towards homophobia and transphobia in Bulgaria. Although the filmed experiments are real, this is rather an idealized image that we would like to be valid always and everywhere.
    If you feel offended or provoked in some way please react. You can find us on Facebook or www.glasfoundation.bg/en
    If you are witness or victim of homophobic hate crimes please report now to www.wearetolerant.com

    I am gay and teen that lives in Bulgaria. I hated Bulgaria as well due to the homophobic population ah.. . . . just when i grow up i dont know.. If there are any gay rights in Bulgaria i will move to the capital (sofia).. But if Bulgaria kept being homophobic, i am gonna immigrate abroad.. I am trying to study hard and learn english so i can have better future cause.. In bulgaria i will live in a hell just this country isnt safe. I swear i wont feel comfortable here.

      @@ChopperSakura If the government, the president and if the politics cant change it then nobody will. Bulgarians are gay unfriendly community, its hard to survive. For example, walking around the street with your couple holding hands.. at the very least verbal abuse or something worse.. Immigration is the best option for me, most of the LGBT Bulgarian community is running abroad to get better life and to be accepted no matter their sexual orientation.

    We, a female couple, just visited Sofia and people were more interested in our little dog, than in us as a couple. Very few people did the "bad look", but that was all - and sadly this is still a "normal thing" we have to live with almost everywhere.
    But most important: we both had a good time in Sofia and our dog loved all the attention.

      So, you understand that those people kissing also deserve respect, right? As you said, we're not alone in the world and they did nothing wrong, so they deserve to be respected. Felling "uncomfortable" it's not an excuse, as this is subjective. For example, I really hate some things like, the color green or hotdogs, every time I see someone using it or eating it, it makes me extremely uncomfortable; but that's just me, they are not doing anything wrong and other people may not mind it at all. So why should I demand that they stop just because I felt "uncomfortable"!? We live in society, we share the space and should be tolerant and respectful to others, even if we don't like something.

    Homophobia is unnatural and is thankfully dying out because of the decline of religio-politics, the dying off of older generation, the awareness that homosexuality is widespread across all species and races and the introduction of LGBT-inclusive teaching across school curricula worldwide. Nature's coming back! 😃😍🌈

    • @allure7744
      @allure7744 2 года назад +8

      Exactly kids need to be taught early on in school that sexuality can be fluid or that it’s ok to be or like what you like it’s natural and no one should feel alone, or different or be bullied for being different. And it must be taught in school in a wide spectrum because a lot of parents teach kids at home that it’s not ok to be gay and this causes internal conflict within children where they feel alone, develop self hate and become suicidal. Also when parents teach kids that it’s not ok to be gay they are also giving kids a reason to bully other kids who might be gay. Acceptance and tolerance for people who are different then you or the same as you is important in developing a strong foundation mentally, emotionally and physically because it is all connected. At the end of the day treat people the way you would like to be treated, let people love who they want to love, let us all live and let live in a safe and harmonious world. We all want to feel accepted, and loved, thank you.😊🙏✨

    it... depends really... It is not hard to notice there is a huge difference between eastern and western culture which is especially true when it comes to teh way words are used including where exactly their definitions start and end. If i talk with someone from the east i will say bulgaria is not homophobic, if i talk with someone who is clearly gotten way too used to what i see as a pathetic excuse of an ideology of the more far left i will say i am proud my country is homophobic.
    It is different culture and if you visit you should at least understand it. You do not want to respect that most people do not find showing much phisical affection in public normal or acceptably and see it as impolite maybe even straight up rude, that is fine. But i do not see why would you complain about it afterwards. Because apperantly the world does not want to bend down for you.
    I have not had a single actual homophobic experience. I am from Plovdiv, often visist Hisara, some smaller towns or villages around etc. What summarized bulgaria's "homophobia" is something that probably every second person will tell you and which i find completely fine, even good - "nothing wrong with it, it does not matter, and i do not care as long as it is not shoved into my face" or something like that
