Can you post your settings for your main tank, trying to help my son with lighting and am probably returning what we bought for lights because they were to complicated and I have hear great reviews on these
Thanks for the reviews I ha e a question about this. I remember reading somewhere that the icrew Lights can connect to the kessil light's controller. Does that mean it may be possible to connect it with kessil lights? I have a kessil AP9X light with some kessil a360 lights connected to it. I use the kessil AP9X as the controller as I can connect to it via wifi via the kessil App, and it is daisy chained to 2 other kessil lights. Would I be able to chain it to Nicrew lights through a USB cable and become programmed to the same light setting and schedule?
It's nice to see that they're trying to keep up with the more expensive brands, even if the ability to adjust 5 different channels is pretty much a marketing gimmick. I adjusted the "warm white" portion of the white channel on the Gen 1's to zero, using black fingernail polish. I'm pretty sure that's all I'd do with the Gen 2... cut off that muddy looking "warm white". A nice crisp white and blue look so much better to me without the yellow turning it to crap. I miss the good old days of Metal Halides and Blue Actinic VHO fluorescents (oh that beautiful shimmer), but I do like the ramp up/down of LED's. It gives me more changing views, like a sunrise and sunset slowly taking place. The fish and corals could care less, but I like it. The biggest win the Gen 2 has over the Gen 1, is the softer spread of the light. Less hot spot effect, which would be more desirable for people with SPS dominant tanks or all low light corals. If you have a mixed tank, then you can use the hot spot to your advantage... keeping higher and lower light corals closer together, than otherwise possible. High light in the hot spot, lower light just outside of it... instead of having to separate them by height. IMHO, all this technology has really given us, over the last 20 years... is smaller light hoods over our tanks, smoother on/off transitions, and something to spend money on.
Did you open up the unit and paint over the chip? I was looking at the gen 2, but don't like how they changed the 150 to a two puck. Might grab 2 gen1s for that price per spred... just wish thatbwere a tad bluer(less magenta)
@ Nope… I painted dime sized circles right on the outside of the lens. There’s already circle shapes on the lens, that I used as a guide. Black fingernail polish, and it’s not noticeable at all… but my lights are mounted at about eye level.
So super gay reef dude already smoked your boots... posted up par readings three weeks ago... so in my humble opinion not worth the double price tag... fuck a coupon.
@FishOfHex yeah, not a subscriber to reef dude.. can't handle the lisp 🤣🤣 just searched for the par readings for the gen2, need to pull the trigger on new light setup for my new 260g . Side note... never knew shit about va beni's, been out 22yrs... last year started asking a few brothers and they either said "huh?" Or said oh yeah bro I'm 70,80,90,100... just wanted to mention, reach out to your brothers and tell them if you haven't already... no reason for every bitch in the air force getting 100% right after 4 year contract and all the other branches don't even file 🤙
What is the color rendering vs the gen 1 or even compared to your frag tank next to it? The gen 1 were more violet vs being blue.

That controller works almost exactly like the controller for the Kessel lights. Very easy to use.
Yes it does
