Every time I hear the words Offerman or Ron Swanson on this channel I literally hold my breath for a second expecting him to walk into frame. I’ll keep watching. ...and waiting
If you did a blind taste test again, I would either have someone else bring in the whiskey's so Daniel and Rex had ZERO idea which whiskey's they were tasting. OR Daniel and Rex each bring 5 bottles, but don't tell the other person what they brought. I felt like Daniel was looking for the Canadian whiskey. If you have no idea what you are drinking, you look for flavors rather than which bottle matches which glass. Would LOVE to see more videos like this one (but I am also a Whiskey Vault fanatic, so I might be biased towards tasting videos).
AKA Reject yep. And they knew there was a Lagavulin which they had already tasted. The title also makes it sound like they are going to rank these, which they didn’t.
@@CoconutMigrating You may not have watched till the end, because they did rank their top three. And, from their reviews, it was pretty obvious which whiskeys weren't their favorites. I really enjoyed this video. It was a great premise that could be done again with some interesting changes.
AKA Reject I meant rank them blind. Usually on something like this you don’t know what any of the items are and you rank them/guess what they are/etc and then reveal at the end. This really just felt like a tasting/thoughts then a “blind test”. It’s an interesting video, just not what I expected.
it makes barely enough sense for my approval so i upvote. you know, like a whiskey that tastes barely good enough for my approval. but also you cant stop drinking it to the point it becomes a problem and then you realize you were too young to have a son; especially one that hates you because you were born gay but have an unnaturally dark butthole so nobody wants to toss your salad out of fear of contracting some exotic std they assume you must have due to the fact you are racially ambiguous. you kno9w what i mean guys?
I don't even really like whiskey usually but I like watching these videos to learn about it. Its always interesting watching people talk about something they are really passionate about.
I'm obsessed with y'all. LOVE this channel, and the Vault as well. I'm hosting a Scotch tasting for my 29th birthday this coming March and I will be STUDIOUSLY consuming your content until then in order to help me plan and prepare. Thanks boys.
Nick Offerman would have grabbed glass #3, then swept the remaining glasses in the trash before savoring the nectar of the gods. I loved your description of Canadian whisky. Canned honey that took on the characteristics of the can. Too true.
omg I enjoyed the crap out of this episode lmao!! I freakin love being a part of the Whiskey Tribe, dude. Always fun to watch the excitement you guys have for the drinks and craft. One thing I'll always regret not trying, but at least I can feel like I have with you guys!
I rarely drink spirits let alone whiskey, but your guys energy is so awesome I cant stop watching. Thanks for helping me get through this craziness. I think I'm gonna have to dip my toes into some malt soon. Keep being light hearted your channels awesome!
I liked they way you blended them all together and they tasted just the way you did they will. I am just getting into whiskey and really enjoy watching your show. Thank you for making it fun without being snobbish.
I don’t know if it was limited or not but I have Heavens Door cask strength. I absolutely love it. It’s 124.6 proof and for it to be that high, it’s a nice slow warmth that builds. I got a lot of toasted vanilla and caramel with a super soft oaky finish. One of the best bourbons I own.
Although bringing along that Lagavulin was a little like bringing Sinatra to audition at an amateur recital. Still, proves a point. Honour a celebrity with a good whisky; nice. Make a cheap mass market whisky and garnish it with a celebrity; notsa nice. I'm starting to realise you guys will never run out of content ideas. Pretty cool.
Thought the same thing. Soon as they tried it and started talking shit about it I was like yep of course their products would be the same as the band. Total shit haven't been good in decades
A lifelong self described musician am I. A lifelong enjoyed drinker as well......more recently actually for spirits. I prefer cannabis but my vocation prohibits it. Both can inspire and in excess.. mute positive expression. Some people can exude continuous examples of thought and ingenuity. For some it's like lightning....A brilliant flash and it's gone. Bottle to bottle note to note can be one off. That's the magic. We expect more when the magic happens but sometimes it's only for that moment that effects us personally. Enjoy and remember life and those Magnificent Bastards!! 🎵🎶🥃🍺🍽👥
Of the few that I have tried, Offermans and McConaugheys are the ones I like the most. Proper twelve isn’t “good” like you could write home about it but it’s good for mixing and cheap enough you don’t feel like you’re wasting it
God I love you guys. I really do. But I’ve watched so many vault episodes I find myself over simplifying nosing and tasting notes. Not that it’s a bad thing but I started my journey with Ralfy as my guide for the last 6 years. Just found you guys a few months ago. And now when I taste a whiskey I’m only coming up with the descriptors you guys most often use. Ah the power of suggestion! Have you guys reached out to Ralfy to maybe do an episode or two together? I know the Tribe would love to see that. And it’d be really interesting to see what the differences/similarities are that he and you guys get from the same whiskies. Keep up the good work guys. Cheers and be blessed!
I don't usually fall for this kind of marketing, but I kinda want a bottle of the Slipknot stuff... I still listen to them. Have since the early 2000s.
Gin in the summer and brandy in the winter for me. Bad experiences with whiskey as a youth left me with an aversion for whiskey. 🤮 As reinforced by you Magnificent Bastards....it's what you enjoy. I enjoy your sharing the journey!
Hey guys love the content. I am currently broadening my whisky horizons. I recently tried a Bowmore 12 to introduce myself to Islay Scotchs. Thank you so much for what you do, you have ignited a passion in me that had gone dormant. P.S. As a Canadian I would love to create a whisky that would make Daniel proud to drink Canadian whisky lol. I agree that we have so much potential but very few interesting whiskys
I haven't been watched for a while and I realized in my absence how I haven't been analyzing the whiskeys that I've been drinking. Because of that, not enjoying as much. Thanks to you guys for reminding me to enjoy fully and SAVOUR the experience. I've learned so much from your advice, THANKS!!!
Lagavulin is never pointless.... haha but yeah I definitely agree. Bourbons, Irish pot stills, some single grain, some funky cask finishes, then bam through an islay in for good measure.
Haven't tried any of the others but Longbranch was legitimately my favorite whiskey for awhile-my favorite wild turkey everyday sipper. Just wished it had more of that mesquite influence they claimed were going for.
I'd love to see you guys do Slipknot's No. 9 Reserve. Light years ahead of the regular No. 9. I didn't really enjoy the regular No. 9 but it was passable on the rocks. The No. 9 Reserve was great in my opinion. It's expensive and there are dozens of getter whiskeys at the price, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
I did this recently with my three Talisker whiskys. 1 was Talisker 10, 2 Game of Thrones, and 3 was Talisker Storm. Talisker Distillers Edition is my favorite, but I don't have a bottle anymore.
It is discontinued, but In Flames had a pretty damn decent single malt from 2016 via Box Whisky (now named High Coast Whisky) that I recommend testing if the opportunity ever arise.

They missed their chance to say there was a heavy metal note on the slipknot whiskey
They did! 😉
or the metallica one
It was bland and sharp at the same time, like some Slipknot songs
Ngl it got a chuckle out of me when he said "both sharp and bland"

You know what Matthew McConaughey loves about bottled whiskeys? He keeps getting older, but they stay the same age.

I thought it was swill. Tasted like pure marketing. Low abv but somehow tastes of harshness.
I bought one bottle and it's still sitting there, I bring it out only for fight nights and even then only as a gimmick.
