"Everyone in this room will someday be dead" is such a special book to me, I really hope you enjoy it!
I loved that book as well!
In India it's literally midnight and I'm watching you. Why? Because I also love to cry while reading and your recommendations are top notch.
same oml
@@prerza where you from?
Same 😭

@@prerza I studied in Lucknow back when covid happen
Maybe do a list with the books you’ve read about writing ? And rate them or tell us what you got from each one of them?
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow was BEAUTIFUL, just finished recently and wish I could read it again for the first time. Definitely a favourite of the year
Same. When I was done with it, I wanted to immediately restart
what ages is it appropriate for?
I'm so excited for you to read "Everyone in this room will someday be dead", I read it last summer and I absolutely loved it!
"Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead" -- amazing title. Amazing cover. Definitely a good one for performative public reading. 😉
😂
This is me telling you again how much I ADORED Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. It shattered me. Its incredible. One of my favorite books ever, best book of this year.
I love On Writing. I actually never read any Stephen King books except this one. I read it in high school and it has really informed the way I write as well as my work ethic
I loved reading his "Delores Claiborne" for the accent alone.
Listened to 11/23/63 and Under the Dome on Audible. Both kept my interest. Not gory.
Me toooo. Everything you said, me too!
Apart from On Writing, the only other Stephen King book I've read is It. Honestly, it's an incredible encyclopedic history of a fictional town. I'm worried that any other Stephen King book might let me down in comparison.
@@tachisme I’d highly recommend The Shining. My second King after IT, and imo it surpasses it. Soo good.
@@parth2302. Thank you for the recommendation. That's the only other Stephen King book I've thought I might enjoy (I just know he'll brilliantly detail the hotel setting). You gave me the push I needed to read The Shining :)
Literally SO EXCITED for you to read tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. One of my favorite reads this year!!
The way the covers of your TBR this month has a soft and calming vibe😩
You’re such an amazing person, Jacky, really special to everyone that values you.
Never change and continue shining!
❤️
When I moved to Germany, The Idiot was one of the two books I brought with me because it’s that good.
What's the other book, if you don't mind me asking?
On Writing is my favorite Stephan King book and I very rarely enjoy memoirs. There are so many things that have stuck with me 8 years later, especially the nail hanging with all King’s rejected stories in the eaves of his attic.
I LOVED ON WRITING! I listened to him read it on Audible at least twice. That reminds me another fun book about books is, "leave me alone I'm reading" by Maureen Corrigan. I also listened to that one read by the author.... I loved the parts about female adventure tales, detective novels, and the adoption of her daughter. All really intriguing given she's a book reviewer for NPR fresh air. 📚
Just finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow and loved it. Definitely one of my favorites of the year so far. Looking forward to hearing your review!
You should totally do a whole video on books by writers about writing! I feel like you would have so much to say about which ones you found helpful / inspirational!
Ahh, On writing is an amazing one! Indeed includes practical advice, and I remember and use it even after a few years since reading the book.
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is so good! Definitely a favorite of the year.
“everyone in this room will someday be dead” is my favorite book too! looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it
I only just got into reading a couple of months ago (I’m a slow reader with a short attention span, so I could never get in the groove). And now I’ve just finished my 10th book since then, with hundreds more on my tbr. It’s my new love! And I’m so glad I discovered Jack in that time, his enthusiasm is infectious, and I’ve got so many good recommendations from him. So glad to be a new part of this community.
hey yo me too!! I hadn’t read a book since I left highschool (abt 6 years ago) and I just picked up my first book this summer and reached 11 books recently!!! Great job and I’m so so happy to be in a community with revitalized readers too:)
I'm so happy for you both! My reintroduction to reading happened last year and I just can't quite explain how much better it's made my life :)
I love how here we have almost the preview of what books are going to appear in your main channel, its like an inside club
can't wait to hear your thoughts on memorial! the mom became one of my favorite characters.
On Writing is really good. I, like your friend, also remember parts of it when I'm writing. The book has had quite a significant impact on my writing since I read it (last year). It's also partly an autobiography of his own life. Highly recommend.
I discovered your channel yesterday and I’m already obsessed
ahh finally reading memorial!! i hope it’s good it’s been on your shelf for so long 😭 i’m also reading tomorrow x3 this month it’s one of my most anticipated reads of the year!! hope u have a good november 🫶
You're gonna LOVE Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow!! It's one of my fave reads this year!!
My copy of "On Writing" is probably my most treasured book. A perspective-shifting read. I cannot wait to hear what you think!
the frame behind the book pile is sick i want one omg
Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow was GORGEOUS, I cried sooooo much--definitely a worth read

I read Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow this year and it’s one of my favorites. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I am also not a writer (yet) but into writing, and King’s book “On writing” has been one of my recent discoveries. I’d love to see a video about the books on writing (and learn more about the classes you are talking in NYC).
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow is an absolute masterpiece, seriously one of the best books I’ve read this year.
You're gonna love On Writing, it's amazing!!!
i love it when the jack is going to read a book i've already read, when most of the books i read are recommended by him. I'm talking about memorial, btw. Can't wait to know how you feel about it.
Murakami has a great book about his writing process called What We Talk About When We Talk About Running
He read that for a project a while ago where he read books for a select set of authors while imitating their daily routines. If I recall, neither that book nor Murakami’s routine particularly won him over.
I don't know, I find murakami's books really great but "What we talk when (etc.)" was really weird and not in a Murakami's weird, good, way, but "more confusing and confused". Like, he describes his writing process as " whatever comes into his mind". He doesn't have planning or anything, so the description of his process reads more like a vlog about running, music, and cats than a book if that makes sense
Murakami is releasing a new book “novelist as vocation” I think is the title
I never had a TBR list or TBR bookshelf until I ‘met’ you Jack……now I have both😅
I think you are going to love "Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead". I just read it because you mentioned it on another video and I adored it. I super loved too that the author is Canadian like me. It's very funny in a dark humour kind of way that I'm sure you will enjoy!
we have a similar nov tbr
id love to see you read the lizard cage one day. definitely think its up your alley!
I have a massive bookslump atm so I need all the motivation to read I can get
ah yes time for procrastination while listening to jack talk abt book my favourite hobby
Such great books Jack love it 😍
Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow is incredible! I keep recommending it to everyone since it came out
You should do a video of all the books you personally love. Books that are dear to you. I would love to know which books you like the most since you read a lot. Thank you Jack.
I’m so excited to hear your thoughts on TTT… I’m almost finished with it 😬
So much content, thank you Jack
Me watching this at midnight. I should make a tbr pile. Thanks for the inspo!
Hi! If you’re looking for more books about writing, I would recommend the workbooks from the Gotham Writers Workshop. I’ve used the fiction one, where each chapter was written by a different writer discussing a different writing technique. The book breaks down a lot of technical aspects of fiction writing in a way that’s easy to understand, and provides work pages in the book for the reader to practice working with a specific technique. I loved using this book when I studied writing, and while I no longer do fiction writing (or creative writing in general), I find that the techniques I learned from this book influence how I approach legal writing.
So excited to hear your thoughts on the Crane wife! I will definitely be looking for that Stephen king book at my library
‚On writing‘ is amazing ❤
Love your sign behind the books lol
I loved ‘The Idiot.’ The blurb completely belies the heart of the book, which is really an exploration of language and word.
Hey Jack, for memoirs on writing, I recommend Haruki Murakami - What I Talk About When I Talk About Running. It's about running in theory, but very much about how he crafts and approaching his writing, too. x
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Memorial!!
Hey friend! I have 3 recommendations that I feel like you would love and are all perfect to read during the winter.
#1 - Murder For Christmas by Francis Duncan (wonderful cozy mystery)
#2 - Early Riser by Jasper Fforde (has a winter setting and wow just wow. Probably best to go into the read not knowing much about it)
#3 - A Holly Jolly Diwali by Sonya Lalli (a beautifully told diverse holiday read)
Memorial is SO GOOD. you will love it.
I've seen Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow everywhere recently, excited to hear what you think of it! Also my fav bookstores in NYC are Alabaster Books and Mercer Street Books (both in Manhattan) if you're wanting to check out new bookstores :)
Have you read If This Is A Man? Its an amazing memoir by Primo Levi who was held in a concentration camp in WWII. The things he notices are so interesting. and the way he interrogates humanity is so heartbreaking. I've never come across a more insightful writer. If you haven't read it yet, definitely do. I'm quite certain you would love it. I read it nearly 5 years ago now and it has stayed with me.
Goodness Jack I've just put 3 more of ur recs on my tbr!! Thankyou but AHHHH
loved tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow so much. I'm not a huge video game person but I loved it soo much anyway.
I feel like I’M defeating my tbr when I log onto your delightful little channel
love this tbr!! i'm hoping to read a whole bunch of books!! like wolf hall and how to read now and Y/N by Esther Yi
Amazing that I've previously read two of the books on Jack's TBR list.
I love you and your videoes Jack❤ You always makes my day with your videoes
Good luck woth you tbr!
Describing the blurb of The Idiot as "information overload" perfectly describes my thoughts on the book as a whole. I'm so so curious to see what you think of this one!
i just finished tomorrow, and tomorrow and tomorrow by gabrielle zhevin and i really love it would carry it to the grave shoving it down everyone's throat as im typing right now. it's a great exploration on love - love we have for people, for art and for the relationship between people and art. it does contain some major TWs tho so do check it. but regardless, it was such a brilliant book and despite it's huge size, i tore through it in less than two days. hope you enjoy it jack!!
i just finished Tomorrow(x3) and really enjoyed it. The writing didn't click for me at first but it's a really sweet story and there is a true appreciation for games as an art
bestie ! i checked out On Writing from my uni library so recently, I’d literally do a read along with you !
if you're trying to find more books by writers, on writing, Murakami is bringing out a new book this month titled 'Novelist as a Vocation' !
I read Memorial earlier this year and gave it 1 star. I also read Everyone in This Room Will Someday Be Dead and gave it 4 stars. Intrigued to hear your thoughts on both irregardless of my own reading experiences.
I think I'll gift "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow" to my brother since his birthday is coming up and he is a big gamer. This is my one opportunity to get my family into reading books lol, thank you Jack!! 😁
Memorial was my favorite book of 2021. You've gonna love it! Greetings from Brazil.
Great selection of books!
Patricia Highsmith's 'Plotting and Writing Suspense Fiction' is also a great one from an author on writing perspective!! 100% recommend 🤩
I’m also reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow for November ❤
I listened to On Writing on audio earlier this year and I really enjoyed it and think back on it a lot. I can agree with the friend's feedback, Stephen King narrates the audiobook himself so it's worth listening to him tell some of his stories.
I hope you'll check out Bird by Bird by Anne Lammott 😊 I didn't think a book on writing would make me tear up but this one did 🥺
I'm still waiting for Jack to dive into Dutch literature and Nighttrain to Lisbon (one of my favourite books ever)
I loved On Writing. I'd also highly recommend Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott for a book on writing by a writer.
Love the framed art! 😂😂
I cannot WAIT to read tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. I work as a video game developer so I feel like I am the perfect target audience for this book haha
I read three of these quite recently, so I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts. That blurb for Memorial is so compelling...I wouldn't say it quite lived up to it, for me, but it was still definitely worth reading.
I still have no idea how I feel about The Idiot 😂
I loved "On Writing". I accidently donated my copy a few years ago. I would have read it again.
Watching Jacks videos us the only thing keeping me sane rn not gonna lie
tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow is my favorite book of this year EASILY UGH
Can’t wait to hear you feedback about tomorrow tomorrow and tomorrow
Happy November 1TH Jack! 😊
Every time Jack chuckle makes me wanna grab his cute little face
i LOVED the crane wife! i received an arc and i loved it so much i had to purchase a hard copy
Love this!
If you haven’t yet read “Bird by Bird,” by Anne Lamott I would highly recommend it. I read it a few years ago in my Freshman year of college in a writing course and it has stuck with me since
Agree!
Read Memorial, already. I so want to know what you think of it. I read it when it first came out, but I will hold my commentary until after you read it.
I must confess that I haven't read anything by Steven King except his book on writing because it was required reading in one of my college writing classes. I thoroughly enjoyed it and have wanted to read one of his books since (but I'm a bit nervous...lol).
Had to read on writing by stephen king for an AP class and literally changed the way on how i write. Such an awesome book!
i can’t wait to hear your thoughts on everyone in this room will someday be dead!!! i finished it a while back and loved it yet it seems like i’m still processing everything in it
I'm definitely getting too many channels that I'm subscribed to, but you're next one 😆
Nice books !
Curious about your opinion on Stephen Kings’s On Writing. I enjoyed it very much and read it while I was working on my first book. Another one I absolutely cherish is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. Good luck with writing your debut Jack!
Gosh only six Jack attack??? What a slack 😂jkjkjk I’m at 95 books for the year. Thank you for all the recommendations. I love putting on your videos when I’m cleaning or doing my makeup. Feels like I have a buddy ❤
