  • We made a light wind test with the assumption that bigger is better. But is that true? We found out the hard way. For you kiters off course. We tested the Duotone Juice 2020, The 2020 big wing hydrofoils from Naish. And Jens brought his Core kiteboarding Xlite 11m. We are in for a surprise but view the video and check it out. Any questions or comments! Please add them down bellow. All the best in these strange times. Stay safe & healthy!
    Enjoy!

    Diminishing returns with large kites in light wind. New one strut kites seem to be the sweet spot for the light wind. They will sit over your head and not Hindenburg on you. I like the way they turn better than foil kites as well.

    I tried a juice during a tt race?
    I felt the juice had no juice compared to my flysurfer boost 2- 13m.
    I have a slingshot foil h4. .... A big wing it foils in 5-6 speed on the low end.
    Top is still close to 20 knots.

    Hi guys!
    Thanks for all the videos that you do!
    They’re always super duper helpful and funny at the same time!
    I have a question though, I have a 17m juice 2019 with a 24m click bar! Should I buy the 2m line extension when using the juice you think? On the duotone website they don’t say really anything about the click bar and the juice, they rather talk about the trust bar with the 27m lines.. What you think? Should I keep the 24 with the click bar or should I buy a 2m line extesion and go for 26m? Thanks a lot!

    • @Kitefinder
      @Kitefinder  4 года назад

      Hi, with the 15m Juice extensions really help. Don't know if the 17m is to heavy in this light 6/7 knots but for sure extensions are a good option.

    I'm really surprised of the conclusion, I was thinking of buying a big one strut kite but maybe it's better to buy a new "classic" kite that fly in light winf, someone know if there is a difference between the brand and years (I like eleveight) ?

    • @Kitefinder
      @Kitefinder  3 года назад +1

      Hi Clement, don't start to think brands. Think kite characteristic. You need a smaller kite that has good stability & strong (a bit explosive) power to get you on the board in light winds. The heavier you are the more important that explosive power.

  • @deadmanic
    @deadmanic 4 года назад +1

    Could you tell me why did you put the front strap in that way? Is it better when you have a lot of lift?... isn't it very forced for the ankles?

    • @Kitefinder
      @Kitefinder  4 года назад

      Hi Javier, this way you just have a bit foot position orientation and extra luxury while starting for beginners. Some tried it a day before

    • @AKJammer1
      @AKJammer1 3 года назад

      It gives you the best of both worlds. Something to grab your toes onto for start, but completely out of the way for moving your feet around the board.

    My experience with large tube kites is not so good, aren't they made for heavy people on windy days :)
    Today I was on Flysurfer Sonic2 / 18m with wind between +/- 5 and 9 knots with a 930cm2 front wing.
    I already find the 930cm2 front wing much slower than my 580cm2 wing, isn't using an even bigger wing not too boring ?

      I would guess so - because I know of no Flysurfer kite which stays in the air at zenith in lower then 4 knots.
      Check my own video:
      Ground wind of around 2knt!
      ruclips.net/video/UdLFhok0Mus/видео.html
      I have 19m2 speed III - when it was new - I could get going in min 5knts.
      Check my channel for proof of almost riding in 3knt. wind on twintip board - not quite enough to keep planing - if I had had my hydrofoil back then it might have been ok.
      Basically in my kitebuggy I can drive as soon as the kite is able to stay in the air.
      Even if at zenith it falls back...
      Kiting below 4 or 5 knt. is mostly a wish or due to the wind gradient showing lower wind at geound level then at 20m high...

    Big kites are stupid for light riders. In light wind it falls back (deeper) in the wind window and you gotta fight against it so much to go upwind.
    Surprised you guys didn't add foil kites into the mix. Foil kites having advantage of being more like a wing that starts pulling more as you get more apparent wind over it. (The pull due to apparent wind being more pronounced on foil kites.) Plus it's lighter and stays closer to the edge of the wind window in lighter winds.

      Flysurfer Sonic Race VMG in 21m2 - I believe nothing gets you going earlier^^
      As soon as you can sense the slightest air movement on your skin you can try to get going - to start the kite - have a battery powered leafblower ready to pre-inflate! No joke - works like a charm!
      I used to own a H.Q. Neo in 14m - that thing pulled like a tractor even in 4knts...
