Zahn's books should have been used By Disney for the continuation of the Star Wars Movies in my eyes. He 100% nailed the feeling of Star Wars! Those would have been great movies.
While we agree they’re wonderful books, logistically it was impossible for them to use the Thrawn Trilogy for the sequel trilogy. Those books only take place 5 years after RotJ and in real life we’re dealing with a 60 year old Carrie Fisher, 65 year old Mark Hamill, and a 75 year old Harrison Ford.
Some issues with the video: Forgot Shane Dix, who also cowrote 3 Star Wars adult novels Said Darksaber is considered one of the bottom 2 or 3 worst Star Wars books, when that book in actuality is usually considered his best novel by most Legends readers. Karen Traviss is perhaps the most love them or hate them author in the entire franchise. It seems like you have not read anything she wrote at all, given what you said about her. Also got the things the Clone Wars contradicted from her books all wrong, and made no mention of her Clone Wars TV series novels Put Greg Keyes in C and used him writing exclusively in the New Jedi Order series against him. This ignores the acclaim his NJO books have gotten, and that he was asked to come back and write more but was too busy. Joe Schreiber's "Red Harvest" book is actually pretty disliked by the larger Star Wars community Ignored James Luceno's work as the continuity manager for the New Jedi Order series, and neglected to give mention to the fact that Luceno wrote "The Unifying Force" with the mindset that it would be the last Star Wars novel continuing the story in the post ROTJ era and thusly the finale to all of Star Wars. Put K.W. Jeter in C tier above Brain Daley, despite Jeter's books being among the most disliked in the entire Legends continuity and giving way to numerous inconsistencies Didn't mention how foundational Brian Daley was to all of Luceno's work in Star Wars when putting either author on the tier list. Neglected to mention how divisive Troy Denning is and how divisive some of his series like Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi are Ranked a lot of authors based purely on Goodreads scores due to not having read their books and having done zero actual research. Said Aaron Allston built his Wraith Squadron books off the characters and events from Stackpole's books which is not true. Allston's books feature the characters from Stackpole's books in cameos and small roles only, with a focus on a new original cast. His Wraith Squadron books were also built off of the events of Dave Wolverton's "The Courtship of Princess Leia" novel, not the Rogue Squadron books. Made no mention of Corran Horn as one of the big characters of the Legends timeline when talking about Stackpole.
Ok so here's the deal: I have only read about 10 EU novels and I have quite strong opinions about each of them. I want to expand my reading of the EU but I don't want to waste my time so this Tierlist could come in handy. However how do I know if your taste aligns with mine? I immediately looked up the ratings for Kevin Anderson and Timothy Zahn to see how you would tank them... And you nailed it perfectly for me. I will now check out all the S tier writers. Thank you
We specified at the beginning of the video that we were only including novelists who have written at least 3 adult or YA novels. Charles Soule doesn’t qualify under those criteria.
I think Troy Denning, Chuck Wendig, and Karen Travis’s should be lower, both Greg Keyes and Joe Schreiber should be higher, and Barbara Hambley and Vondy McInyre should be put in an F.
If they hadn’t fired Wendig, I’m sure he would have put out really good content in both comics and novels. One of the biggest missteps in canon publishing was getting rid of him IMO
@@starwarslads yeah I really loved them BUT I also read them long after they were all released, so I missed the hype and went in knowing about the weird writing style and other things people didn’t like. I was able to read them without expectations, which probably wouldn’t have been the case if I had read them when they came out

The fact that you didn't even have to say anything and just put him at the top of the tier list 😂
He’s the GOAT!
Claudia Gray and Brain Daley 👍🏻
Great authors!
I have to agree! Good video
Thank you!
Tim Zahn, and Kevin J Anderson most definitely...
Interesting combo!

Glad our opinions align! Enjoy the books!
You forgot Charles Soule :(

Wow, that’s a strong opinion. You enjoyed Aftermath that much?
