I grew up in the 80s and this was my favorite song by Billy Idol. They used to play the video on MTV all the time.
I miss the 80s. So many great and diverse songs by groups who were experimenting with sounds and instruments.
oh hell yeah you are the only Channel that reacted to Billy Idol one of the greatest
And he became an American citizen, just last year.
What about the 90’s?? How about INXS ?
Or Chris Cornell-Soundgarden or Audioslave!
Foreal tho!!!!! He was so fucking huge how have more people not done reaction videos to him
Steve Stevens his guitar player did the lead guitar work for Top gun
Great example of 80s music....this is a hundred times better than anything you hear on the radio today.
I saw Billy Idol when he was supporting Bon Jovi at the Milton Keynes Bowl. He was brilliant, stole the show in fact!
It was the 80s, nobody knew what was happening in the videos; you weren't supposed to... You just had to roll with it, it was emotive, not literal.
Yup. Kinda performance art, part short film.
Early MTV was great.
Right on point!
Lol. So true.
Yes, very well said. These were some of the first videos made and they used their imagination and creativity, no boundaries!
I just love billy's high energy songs he is a rock god to me
I like Billy Idol. This song is relaxing. Nice to hear again.
I agree. Love listening to it while driving.
For me this song is nostalgic. It takes me back to my first neighborhood in Albuquerque in the early 2000s even though I only first heard it in May 2017.
Mony Mony, White Wedding, Rebel Yell, Cradle of Love, are all some of his best.
I agree
Yep. The best ones. Made him an Idol. Pun intended
Shawn, yeah and Mony Mony, Scream, Dancing with myself, Flesh for fantasy, Hot in the city, Sweet sixteen and and and... The list just goes on.
Dancing With Myself too.
All of the above. I'll add Blue Highway.
Billy idol one of my favorites back in the day
Had such a great range from punk to rock melodies like this. One of my all time favourite artists.
the real mtv 80s were so freakin awesome and billy was a big part of that....
frank tomasic I wish he’d do some more of the 90’s it’s like he skips all of the 90’s !
WHITE WEDDING BY BILLY IDOL
Love the 80's!!!
Way before MTV went into pregnant teenagers.
Billy Idol was the guy back In the day great dance music... Rebel Yell..dancing with myself..White Wedding..mony mony....lots of good tunes...thx for my morning start it was great....♡
cradle of love
Yeah, those are my favorite songs by him too!
@@tomsearan5641 Hot in the City ....
LOVE that song! Billy Idol is one of a kind, no other like him. I'm 51 and still adore him!
Me, too *le sigh*
You are so ooo right u just luv billy
Eyes without a face is another I like to call, "Night driving music."
Love Billy Idol!!! His 'Elvis' snarl and growly voice are iconic!!
This song has a Very deep Meaning !
Les Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without a Face) is the title to a chillingly horrific yet classically poetic 1960 film from acclaimed French director Georges Franju. In it, a gifted plastic surgeon is involved in a near fatal auto accident which horribly disfigures the once beautiful face of his beloved daughter. Along with his assistant, he abducts young women so that he may surgically remove their facial features and graft their beauty onto that of his daughter's grotesque countenance.
one of my favourites song ever, its just nostalgic to me and relax
Old school, was some of the best music ever!!! You have so many choices of some of the best music ever created!!!! You have just started scratching the surface!!!!!❤️
Billy was one of the top five of the 80's Dancing with myself will get you moving again
The early days of Mtv... Crazy experimental videos. LOL
Oh yes,the good old days, when MTV Much music acutely played music
Well it was the 80s right, everyone was rebelling against 'the norm'. :)
So much fun!
MTV in the 80s was awesome. They actually had music back then.
I love love love this song....
I like to thank you opening peoples eyes to the world of beautiful music. You are and opened mind young man, may. the Lord always bless you and your family great job.
He hates the grunge era! My favorite plus A Lot Of others favorites to! He refuses to play Alice n Chains- I’d love to see his face looking at the video Dem Bones 🦴! Lmao 😂😂😅😅
Love this song, my dad introduced me to it
Oh that voice!! One of my favorites.
MRM
YOU'VE OPENED PANDORAS BOX. SINCE YOUR START IN REACTION VIDEOS
Your setting a high bar. Thx for bringing it back
The man. We love your reaction getting ready to start my reaction vids.
Your channel is perfect the way it is...and Billy was the man
Billy idol one of my all time favorite
This is one song of his from my childhood I still listen to. I heard it way back in 1983 when it came out because of radio. Takes me back to late 1983.
Billy Idol is so cool.
Love all your shows watch them a lot keep up the great work
BILLY IDOL THE MAN
ELITE ROCKER
This is his most chill song. Most of his songs are more turned up. If they’re not in your decision wheel already check out Dancing with Myself, Rebel Yell, or White Wedding. All classics and all turned up from this one. And if you ever saw The Wedding Singer, he was in the scene on the airplane, haha.
What a great artist Billy is. My admiration went way up last November when after 30 years he became a naturalized US citizen. Did it the legal way! Welcome to America!!!
I love Billy Idol!!!!
An 80's icon. One of his slower songs , but still great. A lot 80's videos were a bit strange , to say the least. If you want to see one of the most iconic strange videos , check out "Rockit" by Herbie Hancock ... 😬👍🏼
This!
My favorite Billy Idol song ever. Amazing..he was so gorgeous.
Such a dope reaction man, just wish more people would react to these full videos like u. When the guitar solo came in I bop my head the same way lol
Old school is the best school. :-)
Wow! Love your selection of videos you pick. So very random!! Remember & love the song! Billy Idol is a British Rock Artist & this was his "Ballad" if you will on the album. Everyone seems to do them. Out of their "norms" of what they mostly do.
He was really big in the 80's & to early-mid 90's. He still tours & still puts out albums rarely now. Yeah as to the video, it was that Crazy early MTV days of some were very good & most were just strange & many had no meaning in them.
Keep it up Thanks!!
Billy Idol was always snarling
Love the bass in this song, and one of my favorite tunes from Billy Idol.
You put out so many great reaction vids a day, and such a variety to it's great, thanks!
one of the greats from the 80's. I consider this song his best, it's tough since he had many to chose from. Billy is an English musician from Stanmore, United Kingdom, so much talent from our friends across the pond." Eyes Without a Face" charted at number 4 on Billboards charts on July 14, 1984.
Billy Idol channeled the souls of Elvis and Jim Morrison. His guitarist, Steve Stevens, is one of the most under-recognized great guitarists of this era. The two of them together led to magic.
I love Billy Idol, and that's an excellent unsung song of his. I've never seen the video before, so I can't explain it, but this album was one of the first I ever bought on vinyl.
Billy - what a man!
Billy idol and Steve Stevens on guitar. Great songwriting too
There was just something about this tune back in the summer of '84. Even thought it came out in 83 it was still being played a lot. Cranking up the radio and cruising N Myrtle Beach....good times....
Billy Idol?! Subscribed.....
same
Classic 80’s feelz fav song. So glad u reacted to this! I might have to request one by him lol!
Billy was my first celebrity crush as a kid and I still adore him.
Billy Idol's Kings and Queens of the Underground that was released Oct. 17, 2014 is amazing. I love Postcards From the Past.
Saw him in concert a few years ago, still a fun performer
I love Idol! Him and Cyndi Lauper are two of my favorite artist. I first got into Idol's song "Dancing by Myself" and especially "Rebel Yell" in summer of 2012 while I lived in Albuquerque. Now that i've gotten more familiar with Idol, most of his songs take me back to New Mexico during the hot summer (May - August). A lot of Lauper's songs also take me back to summer, but they tend to remind me more of an early 2000s pool party in southern Texas for some curious reason.
One of the best voice of the all time
Sweet Sixteen is a flawless Billy Idol song. Acoustic. Haunting.
Every time I hear this song it takes me right back to high school.
I think that Billy Idol is doing some existential searching in these verses and some of the video is symbolic of that, and other parts of the video was 80s wild imagery to get rotation on MTV! New subscriber!
Sweet Sixteen is one my faves and often overlooked Billy Idol songs.
Ty: This particular video was one of the very first music videos I watched on Mtv going back to the mid- to late eighties. I thought this little factoid may be of some interest to you. Thank you for your reaction to this video!
Billy Idol is known for some crazy lyrics mixing the sacred with the profane, somewhat discombobulated images in his videos and lyrics, and his infamous sideways sneer. He was a huge star in the 80’s and the video is poorly made and cheesy, like most 80’s videos.
I highly recommend, to completely appreciate Billy Idol, to watch him in a live performance, as that is when he’s at his BEST!! I have actually seen him a few times!
More about this particular song:
The title (NOT the lyrics, remember the discombobulating) was actually based on a very old horror film of the silent era called,”Eyes Without a Face.” This film was so horrifying and disturbing that it was banned in many places.
Just a fun fact!
Actually Les yeux sans visage aka Eyes Without a Face, was not a silent film, but a French film from 1960. But it was indeed pretty horrific for the time.
billy idol is one of the best
Always liked his Elvis sneer. Another wild man from Britain.
I love the way his songs are melodic and you can hear all instruments cheating the sounds
the song was based on the movie; Eyes Without a Face (French: Les Yeux sans visage) is a 1960 psychological thriller drama film co-written and directed by Georges Franju and starring Pierre Brasseur and Alida Valli, based on the novel of the same name by Jean Redon. Brasseur's character is a plastic surgeon who is determined to perform a face transplant on his daughter, who was disfigured in an auto crash.
Billy Idol oozes cool!! Try Rebel Yell, Dancing With Myself, and White Wedding.
This reminds me of my early childhood, watching old MTV.....with my dad. This, The Police, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Euryhtmics were ALWAYS on. There were only a few groups with videos then, I guess. I get my great taste in music from him. Stick to the classics, then build from there. The classics can be classical, blues, jazz, folk, country or classic rock. We all go in different directions after puberty, but having strong musical foundations builds an appreciation for ALL music. Everything now comes from those genres.
Ty, please check out Don Henley's ..Boys of summer.
I love Billy Idol! I love this song. I have the Rebel Yell album (vinyl) and I play it all the time! Great, iconic album! Steve Stevens is one of the best rock guitarists ever! Amazing!
LOL 80's videos, man. I forgot about all the little clenched fist poses Billy Idol does. But then again, I haven't actually seen this video since the 80's either lol. Great song
Just last week Billy idol became an American citizen. Congratulations to him ..
Favorite of his!
The wonderful Billy Idol. I watched an interview a while ago he gave, and he was that he was so high and tripped out during the making of these videos that he doesnt remember all of them. In one or two videos like flesh for fantasy, he said he had to be propped up so he wouldnt fall over lol.. In the words of Rick James, cocaine is a hell of a drug :-) Thank you and bless you Ty.
Love your reactions!!!!
I used to wait eagerly for new Billy Idol videos
Great song you can feel the lyrics the cool pain livley
Such smooth mustache here.
Amazing 😀😎👍 I love 80's
I came here because I saw billy idol, I'm never dissapointed when I listen to him and I'm glad to see some one like and review him
Edit: yeh videos back then we're a definite trip
The backup singers are singing in Franch, "Les yeux sans visage." Which translates as "Eyes without a face" in English. Flesh for Fantasy is my alltime favorite of his.
Yes! More Billy Idol. Try "Flesh For Fantasy".
Probably, no definitely my favorite song of all time.
Old School Billy Idol! One of the videos that was on MTV ALL THE TIME.
When Billy Idol's guitarist, Steve Stevens, enters the scene, its kick ass! Steve's guitar work is pretty recognizable, even if you don't know him by name. Michael Jackson sought him out once for the song Dirty Diana. And he's playing that lead guitar on the "Top Gun Anthem" song. He one heck of an acoustic player too!
Love Billy' idol. Miss those days
He played Download a couple of years back...my son and his friends were there..gutted I couldn't go..he got a great reception.
Money Money. Best cover ever
Sorry. Mony Mony
If you get a chance do the same song but look it up on RUclips it's Billy Idol Eyes Without a Face Santa Monica school system. It's some charity event he did using the kids from the school choir and musicians I think from the school. It is a moving performance ! With the kids in the choir doing the chorus backing vocals and it's amazing !
Love Billy!!!!!!!!
Love me some billy idol, The guitar solo in this song is one of my favorites.
His song Rebel Yell is another good one. Also, White a Wedding. He was and still is one of my faves from back in the day.
dire straights ''sultan of swing'' would be awesome to hear.
whew! occams 99, I've heard it a hundred times, i'm talking about MRM hearing it if he hasn't already. you are not that bright, are you.
you need professional help.
Amazing!
Dire Straits
Those women smacking their asses to the beat...oh the 80's!
80s music was awesome growing up with . Positive and uplifting , some of the videos that went with the music though didn’t seem to always make sense . Hope there is more early 80s in your reactions. Thanks 😊✌️
Billy Idol is coming to Riverside Casino in Riverside Iowa next month. Been thinking about going to it
Song was written about his young sister & her young husband (a rushed wedding) w/
frequent arguments. She would b in tears frequently calling Idol when he was on the road & unable 2 see her & protect her (eyes w/ out a face) 2 this day he is bothered that he was not able 2 help her.
Billy fucking Idol is the man... Man! Did you know that Billy made this video in a 30 hour marathon?
One of my all time fav's. "In the Midnight Hour she cries More..more..more, with a Rebel Yell more ..more..more. Rebel Yell by: Billy Idol
