Careful with carbon strings if the neck isn't reinforced, I put some on my guitar and within 3 weeks the neck bowed forward. had to shave the saddle down almost all the way to get the action playable again.
Both sound very nice. It's a matter of personal preference. Today I prefer carbon strings or titanium strings, but both strings demonstrated are very good. The guitar seems very balanced too and the player is excellent. I hear also a touch of reverb that also enhance the sound experience, make the guitar sound better.
Great video, I actually preferred Carbon, they sound more warm and a bit muffled, while Nylon sounded more pure but also colder and with a bit less character. Your playing is exquisite, however, you could make a fishing cable sound beautiful I bet.
I like my Titanium strings very much. The carbon may have a fit for various guitars, the Plain nylon from Savarez is also a different animal too. I have played on almost every string type since 1973 and I feel that each guitar may need a certain string to bring out the timbre, nuances and the age of the guitar also have a meaning.
Looks like you're playing a Brazilian rosewood guitar with cedar top. I find the spruce top is sharper and louder, and I'm also playing more modern stuff now. Don't hear a tremendous difference between carbon and nylon. I use ghs silver wound G 3rd strings. That's right. They bring the guitar alive.
Bernabe sounds more open, more balanced and hides the scratch sounds more. It's in my to buy list. I can't believe d'addario sounds so bad in comparison, the exact opposite of positive things i said about Bernabe! Yet,I used EJ45 for years, on 3 different guitars! I had a thing against Carbon strings and this video changed it! Thanks! Meanwhile, who's your guitar luthier?
Use warm sounding nylon if you like very pronounced colors and if you have a very powerful (lattice or very bright) guitar. At the other side, use carbon if you have dark instruments.
Well, its complicated. I have a cedar guitar that is very warm but has very bright and sharp high tones. I used carbon for a year on that guitar but it just sounded to sharp and it killed all the warmth. So now i use nylon, although you give up those powerfull bases, you get to have very nice sweet warm tones that nylon gives you
@@javierdiazsantana yeah but heres the thing, i own a south spanish cedar guitar. An alhambra. These tend to have loud and warm bases but bright high's by default. My carbon strings really make the basses pop but overbower the brightness to the point where its too thin. Now i have nylon on them again and the basses sound a bit worse but i have round high's now. Its complicated. I wished i could have the warm highs and strong basses. What strings do you use and what guitar do you own?
@@jothaman3555 Well with an all wood lattice guitar where i used carbon, red cedar top, D'Addario carbons in medium tension or Oasis carbon trebles, seem to bring out the best character of that instrument, and actually i think that i was in the same situation as you with that guitar (Ultradeep warm basses and the highs sounded extremely bright with certain carbons such as Savarez Alliance, but sounded quite dull with nylon from D'Addario ProArte) Please tell me which carbon strings did you use to give you a recommendation on strings, so you can swap out the trebles for nylon and keep the basses you like.
And also, i stopped playing with carbon because i found the colors quite poor and the excessive string tension was hurting my left hand. I now play a spruce top guitar, fan braced, which was built by the mexican Paracho luthier Daniel García Corona, (He also built my cedar lattice) and i am using D'Addario ProArte nylon which seemed to remain nicely balanced in that guitar, that instrument is very bright and came strung with Augustine Regals, which sound amazing but get worn quickly by the nails, and since i prefer durability on the strings (Change them after around 3 months if possible) i tried the old ProArtes which sounded dull on the cedar and damn they sound good on the spruce top. Loved the sound.
I wish I could tell some difference, but, they both sound great. Fortunately, my career as a music critic ended as a teenager so I didn't waste a lot of time...;-)

That was wonderful, Jeremi. Thank you for this video.
스승님
THANK YOU SO MUCH MR. Choi, excellent version and mastery play with the extra carbon/nylon test. I appreciate you so much. Regards from Spain
They both sound good but I resonate better on the carbon strings - it sounds brighter and crisp.
Very helpful video, thankyou dear friend 💚

Tension is slightly higher on carbon strings so they will naturally have more volume.

nylon is more beautiful tone for me, thank you for playing beautifully 🙂👏👏👏
Beautiful playing
1st - 3rd string i prefer nylon
4th - 6th string i prefer carbon
I think nylon much pleasing to my ears
Carbon: Thin, bright, artificial sound, long sustain.
Nylon: Thicker, warm, soft
A very good comparison by doing alternately like this. Definitely carbon doesn't give the romantic sound of guitar that we all love.
So, what is the verdict of the player? Nylon or Carbon?
Whole nine yards
Carbon, trebles ring out with a richer tone to my ears..nylon sound dull in comparison
Super ! :)
I think nylon is better. My opinion
So good..
I am personally a fan of the carbon. I’m surprised how much of a difference there was.
Beautiful I did not hear much difference but I am old snd my hearing is compromised. Thanks .
Paulino Bernabe
Hi Choi, have you ever written for Lonely Shepherd? Shall share with me?
What’s the name of the first piece???
👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
You can buy cat gut strings online anyone tried?

Very Pretty, on either set : )

what is the title of this song, thank you very much
It's Cavatina
i notice no difference at all
Nylon
Nice as usual... Can we ask yoy for a guitar pieces for intermediate players...thanks
both are nice and rich, thanks for beautiful playing. waht is your guitar brand name?
It is made by Korean Luthier, Yonghan Lee.
@@jeremy7strings may I ask how much does it cost?
What tension are the carbon strings? It seems like carbon 1 to 3 strings have a higher tension which gives a brighter and longer sound.
it says 'upper middle tension'.
B!
what's the title of the piece? please!!
Cavatina
The nylon sounds better to my ears.
Can you make Yiruma' s version "He knows my name", this composition is nice )
I've done that song before. ruclips.net/video/u1AFZFlXpPA/видео.html
I got those runny , watery thingies in my eyes, with both types of strings
B strings sound purer to me.
This is a double top or lattice so the comparison does not seem fair to me...Nylon will not sound that great on most double tops..
Your guitar string action seems too high
