@@fren111 actually i think they are teaching how to beat up retards because all the guys "attacking" them in these videos seem pretty slow and almost like they're helping the girls to beat them up and throw them lol. Maybe it's "how to fight slow guys who enjoy a bit of bdsm".
Some of the woman advises are good but She really lacks of practice or a metod to implemet those, toss your wallet is a good advise but it isnt work in all cases. For mma teachers they Now how to make her moves eficient but they are doing wrong too like imitate the woman but of they get serius of curse some of the advices work
That's typically how these kinds of videos work. If you want real lessons, use multiple, specialized sources if you have to use the internet. But of course, taking an actual course is best for a lot of reasons.
Just participate at a fight club and prcatice a serious fighting sport... any serious fighting sport experience will atleast make you more defendable than these useless "self-defense lessons".
@@epsilonkleiner0 She's basically selling a worse version of Krav Maga. She changed the groin kick which might work, into a knee which has no range. And she modified the krav maga block/strike which might work, into FIRST block THEN strike which won't work. I can only imagine how she came up with the moves. "Hm, let me take some krav maga techniques which are already debatable in the first place... and make them WORSE. Yeah, that'll make a great video".
@@epsilonkleiner0 I sincerely hope you're not being serious. It's been proven time and time again that a groin shot doesn't mean your attacker will go down immediately.
I hope to never see that video on RUclips, but if my faith in humanity is correct, I'm guessing if it does exist it has a huge number of dislikes and not a lot of people trusting it.
It really is, I know women who truly believe they could defend themselves against a taller and stronger man having learned simple shit like this. Like you are probably worse off attempting this than just freezing and letting them take your shit.
a friend of mine tried to take a women's self defense course. i told her not to and she told me to go with her. the instructor told me to try to punch her. i said no, she insisted and i said "ok, but i wont hold my self responsible, ok?" i did and... well, i broke her nose. i apologised but they banned me and my friend from the place. i feel bad for that.
I'm not saying the girl is right in all of her techniques, but several of the attacks they do are different from the attacks she's defending against. For example, the wrist grab goes in a different direction, but they try to escape in the same direction, which means instead of attacking the weakest part of the grip they're fighting the strongest part of the grip. It would be like doing a high block to protect against a leg sweep. Protecting your head won't stop you from getting tripped.
Daniel Skrivan - the orchestrated demonstrations she does are pure bunk. I dated a girl who studied traditional Okinawan hand to hand and self defense extensively- she showed me the things she’d learned over 8 years/ 3times a week sparring and studying, and I’m sure she would would have given this a raspberry- Choreographed shit doesn’t do it- especially when the attacker in the demo is nothing more than a passive dummy.
The technique she uses to break the wrist grab DOES work. I'm not speaking for all the others. The problem with that particular technique is the guys here copied the attacker wrong, but then copied the defender exactly, and ended up going into the strength of the grip instead of attacking at its weakest point.
That's really bad advice. It's never a bad idea to carry mace, but it's a bad idea to have no other method available when the first choice fails. Additionally, everyone is different. It's fact that there are women who have no realistic hope of defending themselves from an aggressive male without the use of tools. It's also fact that there are women who can. Preaching a blanket statement of self defense and expecting it to apply to every individual without tailoring it to specific individuals is lazy and often ineffective. Self defense should always be geared to an individuals ability and should never be presented as "well you're female so this is how you need to defend yourself".
@Wes Takahashi Kind of a myth if you use it correctly, here me out. While the spray itself doesn't effect SOME people (a pretty small percentage) the velocity of the spray itself is fast enough to cause serious damage to a persons eyes or blind them. So if you research the mace your buying, make sure it's one with a good range and aim for eyes. This is one of the reasons it's standard practice to teach security not to use it on someone at a range closer than 2-3 feet. That being said, I already agreed with you in an above comments; it's never a good idea to rely on only one option.
What's the follow up? Pepper spray buys you a second or two, but if the other person actually wants to hurt you, you are f**ked anyways. And running away is not always that easy/possible (encumberance, companions to protect, interiors, ...). I think of deploying pepper spray as entry into a distance-control posture with left arm posted forward and the right one spraying from above the left bicep (ichimonji no kamae) for split second before doing a strike taught for knifehands with the can gripped tight to cut into the skull of the enemy with its bottom edge, with a reverse direction follow-up by the same arm. Inflict concussion and bleeding, mark the offender. Retreat, assess exit/improvised weapons. Personally, I don't bother with pepper spray but this is one of the things I practice with a chopstick or pens as improvised/mock knives during breaks at work every day. A real knife at home.
@@CrystaTiBoha There is so much wrong with the way you're approaching this, so let me hit it point by point. 1) It is a MYTH that mace (pepper spray) is so commonly ineffective that it's not a dependable self protection tool. Here's an excerpt that better explains why that myth exists: "Myth: Some people are immune to pepper spray." Untrue, says SABRE, a manufacturer of security products for law enforcement and the general public. According to a 2001 University of Utah study, some pepper sprays fail because they do not include the necessary measures to guarantee strength consistency. To ensure heat consistency, SABRE operates a high-performance liquid chromatography lab that tests the strength of every pepper spray batch. SABRE eliminates pepper spray failures due to bad batches. That's a fancy way of saying that scientists are now able to determine how many parts per million of heat-causing alkaloids are present in a given chili pepper," wrote Dr. Paul Bosland, a genetics research scientist from the University of New Mexico, in Smithsonian Magazine." Furthermore, as I state in an above comment, the PSI of mace (Varies by brand) is strong enough to do serious damage to, or blind, someone if you spray them across the eyes at closer than 2 feet (which you will likely be by the time you use it) so even IF the effects didn't occur, you could do serious damage spraying them in the eyes. 2) Do NOT stab them with a sharp object (like pens or chopsticks) if you aren't planning to run away. There are a few major reasons for this. First, it's much harder to penetrate the body with an object than people think. If you're not using a knife, then the only way you'll do much damage is if you're stabbing them in the face. Second, IF you manage to penetrate their flesh and you get blood on your hands, it will put you at a huge disadvantage for the remainder of the struggle. It is nigh impossible to stab someone with an item that has no grip when your hands have blood on them. Third, and probably the most important, you are going to do little to them aside from piss them off and oblige them to return the favor. When adrenaline is pumping, being stabbed by a random object that probably won't even penetrate flesh, barely registers. Here's an interesting video on what it feels like to be shot from first hand accounts. Watch it and tell me how effective you think a chopstick or pen are going to be. ruclips.net/video/ez5JGHEvwH0/видео.html Lets not even get into the what would happen if you tried to use a knife and they took it away from you. There is always the risk of introducing more threat into a scenario with the very tools you hoped to use against your opponent. The Answer: Your best option is always run away and/or get help. If those are not options, then your best bets are to take legitimate and accredited self defense classes that will teach you effective techniques with mace, tasers (if legal in your state), and other tactics. You can usually go to your local law enforcement office and get pamphlets or direction to some sort of legit training courses. IF ALL ELSE FAILS, then of course you should use any and all means you are willing to use to escape the situation. I'm just stressing that mace is more effective than people think and trying to go ninja on an attacker with a sharp object with self-taught techniques is just as likely to get you hurt as it is them. In the words of Mike Tyson "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." Which translates into "It's never going to play out the way you imagine it in your head.
My female co-worker explained her self defense techniques to me once... I almost didn't say anything because I thought it's good for feeling self-secure, but then I told her to use her defence against "double wrist hold"... The idea was that she would yank her hands quickly on both sides and down at the same time. I didn't even hold her too hard, because I didn't want to hurt her, and she was not able to escape... Lol, I hate people who teach those techniques and get fucking PAID for it. Scammers!
Hawokki I was dragged to one of those. I refused to be compliant and let go of the holds when I was the “attacker”. The instructor was annoyed. I’m a woman. Those don’t work against someone of my strength.
False security isn't a good thing. I'm glad you showed her that even a very simple one doesn't work so she could extrapolate. False senses of security is what drives me the most crazy about women's self defense seminars.
If this garbage was really an issue it wouldn't exist. The demand for nonsense is so strong because the people it appeals to never find themselves in situations where they have to use it. If they did, those that didn't die would adopt effective training methodologies.
Thank you for dispelling this crap. I laughed my ass off when I saw the original video, but then realized it could be quite dangerous if someone believed they could effectively defend themselves in this way, especially women against a larger male opponent.
she wouldn't give a response. I'm sure she knows she's a fraud but as long as gullible people keep buying her self-defence books or whatever it is she sells she's not going to care
The thing is, the average woman has 33% the upper body strength of the average man and like 50% lower body. This is on average, as in statistical data. The best equalizer is a firearm.
@@fuckmedude8167 maybe some do, but the most ain't. When you're an adult your muscular mass grows massively compared to a woman. Not to disrespect, but man bodies are suppossed to be stronger (sorry for the bad english, autocorrection)
ok master lets kill da ho! At the same size and weight and level of training maybe. The average guy is a lot bigger than the average girl. Also guys are on average more physically trained than girls. That could explain it, but the difference he stated does seem more than I would expect
that is actually true for the "pinpoinpoint technique" . She pushed herself away from the attacker while on some smooth surface. Good luck doing so on a street surface.
Imagine someone walks by and sees two guys choking each other. Or a guy attacking someone with a fake knife while laughing. Or, gasp, people punching each other. Oh wait, the setting is in an MMA gym and there are mats and punching bags everywhere so... not much to be surprised about
Matthew Rei Patricio I consider the groin a secondary target. Its surprisingly easy to miss-and will piss off the assailant. It works sometimes.-but- A finger punch to the throat is better if you are in range. Nobody can fight through the lack of ability to breath. Follow with an immediate shot to the pills and escape.
@@tsunjo0911 True, but the way you're positioned in the first technique, it would be hard reaching the throat as the assailant has control over you. But, I guess taking away their ability to breath is a highly effective move.
Why destroy a man's genitals, he's not going for her groin, just grabbed her wrist. Such dirty mind tsk tsk. Anyway i think that'd just piss him off and if he was partly erect as in it was an actual forceful sexual assault then the hard penis may protect soft testicles. I always wondered how however ppl actually did succeed in achieving and sustaining penetration to climax in a wildly fighting and resisting totally dry and unaroused female. Panetration is sometimes hard to achieve if she isn't regularly sexually active and nervous and not fully wet yet which takes time for both ppl to get aroused even with fully consential sex (not to mention anal) am i only one whose ever wondered when rapist is caught how hell he actually pulled a 'successful' attack off on a frantic tossing punching kicking kneeing elbowing squirming woman
Sometimes I really start wondering how this youtube algorithm works suggesting crap videos, but this time I enjoyed this one thoroughly. Good freaking job guys.
It recommends what you watch based on your engagement with other videos. If you're on a bunch of bad videos and is angry at whats there and start posting comments the quality will drop immensely. Another tip would be to search for a topic you like and just find a single video you'd like. That will quickly update what they recommend to fit that topic.
As a small woman that's only 4'11 ft that has actually experienced being assaulted, i REALLY appreciate this video. It really does never play out the way you would think or imagine and i hate people and companies that give out this false sense of empowerment and safety when they advertise techniques like this because the experience ends up being almost more traumatic in a way when you realize you're screwed and everything you're trying isn't working like you were led to believe.
That's the reason why these video's don't work. I do JiuJitsu and MMA for 5 years now and just getting started about how to actually defend myself against an attacker, when adrealine comes in you fight as you were trained, and those who haven't trained won't fight at the techniques the could've have.
@@mats4650 as someone who's had the unfortunate luck to be in that situation before, you'd probably also realize the adrenaline causes your finer motor skills to go out the window. that complex 5-step process the fitness woman demonstrated (that also needs both hands ) just to disengage a wrist grab will never work in real life. she'll help a lot more women by simply telling them to headbutt the aggressor or kick them in the balls.
have you done any martial arts training miss? in my gym there are a lot of girls who train. what bothers me is that mostly they train only striking and only to do some sort of training, not to actually learn to fight. take bjj classes and boxing classes. if you learn bjj you will understand how the body works in grappling. it wont save you from getting slammed on the mat by a division 1 wrestler but against some drunk creepo it will certainly help. then break his nose and run away.
After learning fairly rudimentary MMA in the Marines (we called it MCMAP), its always annoying to see self defense instructors and the like teaching techniques fresh and ready like they had a long nights sleep. Before we practiced anything we had to run a few miles and do exercises, some times with packs and always in boots. Worn out and tired so we could not overthink or hesitate. When you really need to protect yourself, it is rarely when you are at your freshest. And like you guys show here, the aggressor will resist. Despite having earned an instructor tab, I refuse to teach my friends specific techniques. Instead urging them to pursue training in earnest. If the techniques are not muscle memory, they are useless in my opinion. We also had lessons/discussions about discipline, responsibility, escalation of force, etc after every session. Martial Arts end up becoming part of who you are, more than just something you saw on a youtube video somewhere. I may be late to this video, but you guys are doing good work!
Nope Nope lmaoo “bAcK iN tHe mARInEs” I swear you guys are the only branch that can’t have a conversation about ANYTHING without not bringing up “bIeNg iN tHe mARInES”
@nope nope I love when you said "If the techniques are not muscle memory, they are useless." We train reaction drills a lot. When you're in a fight you're not thinking "What technique am I going to use first?" No, you're reaction is based off of EVERYTHING you've learned. In the drills if we didn't react in a proper way, we got hit. Your partner was allowed to attack you any way they seemed fit. If you got hit or not was solely based on your reaction.
What other self defense related topics you discuss after every session? I'm interested in the subject. I think the way martial arts are taught nowadays is unwise.
Women's clothes have no pockets, they value appearance over functionality. That's why they almost always have a purse, where they even keep their phones.
@@mrknarf4438 Um...who gave you permission to make blanket statements for all female-kind? Men still largely run the fashion industry, not to mention control our objectifying culture. I dare you to do a statistical analysis of women's pants with pockets, vs. without. You know what, throw in a cost differentiation while you're at it. And then...if you're REALLY bored, you can examine the SIZE of what pockets that actually are available to us. We buy what is produced. Pockets aren't sexy. Therefore they're not produced. Hm. @@tylernovogradac9951 who gave you permission to make blanket statements for all the fashion industry? That's such a silly argument, do I need permission to think? In what kind of dystopy do you think we live? I observe, I draw conclusions. If you disagree, let's have a discussion about it, but you can't invalidate an opinion just because it drew a conclusion. Don't you think if female pants with pockets sold more they'd be way more common? It's a free market, the consumer is the ultimate decision maker of what gets produced. There's so much choice out there for so cheap that "we buy what's produced" isn't a good argument. Also, pants can be worn by both men and women: if women started buying men pants for the pockets, not only no one would stop them, but in a matter of months female full-pocket pants would be all the rage. Who decided what was "Sexy"? Millennia of evolution and a few decades of television culture.

+Crispy Hence why some of the best defense women can have is shin-kicking, crotch strikes etc That's what they need to be taught how to do, not this elaborate show shit...
Actually, the pin hold (second move) might work. The MMA guys started the hold in a different position from the chic. Otherwise, the pin hold escape is logical and feasible...although the rotating and hip forward stuff isn't necessary
whoever that woman is has obviously never been attacked in her life if she thinks any of that will work. it's just a lot of shit that sounds good to people who don't know any better to make money

ME: pretty complicated start to something simp- HER: "then you're going to grab their wrist, bring this hip forward, and power out this way" ME: sooooo...that's not gonna work. Now when someone does that and it doesn't work, they will be more traumatized because what they were taught was wrong. CONGRATS you've increased someone's mental trauma without being near them!
If a grown man with previous martial Arts experience had difficulty being successful with those techniques, imagine how useless they would be for a 120 pound woman with no fight experience at all.
Daniel Skrivan you can’t ORCHESTRATE an attacker- what do you do- say “ wait, you’re supposed to mug me like this... and then bear hug me like this... I’ll show you....”?!?!?
That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is when you break a wrist grab, you go towards the thumbs. If you try to go into the meat of the hand, you're going into the grip. With the way the guys grabbed each other, they should have twisted their hands the opposite way in order to break free. Have someone grab your bicep with just their hand. Push your arm towards their palm. Then push your arm towards their fingertips. Which one allows you to break free? These guys were attacking the grip at the strongest point instead of the weakest is why they failed.
Daniel Skrivan - you’re committing to a straw man argument- your point: her original demo of how to escape a wrist hold was correct. ( strike against the thumb, done- physical common sense 101 )- Ramsey’s point: orchestrated self defense videos won’t teach a woman ( or anyone )the realities of how to deal with these situations. So you’re off to the side of the subject arguing for the efficacy of a way to escape a grab. In slow motion. Against a choreographed attack. Go watch some real attack videos on security cams, or whatever- Street attacks are quick, unpredictable, nauseatingly violent, and go to ground in seconds flat- and that’s IF you can see it coming.... throw in the surprise element, and it gets worse- I’ve been there- bludgeoned in the head, three surprise attackers- no warning, no reason- was laid unconscious twice in 2 violent minutes. I’d be dead were it not for those who intervened, and police. I was lucky. I see Ramsey’s point clearly - Apparently, you are missing it.
"Against a choreographed attack." No. If someone grabs your wrist, you flex your hand and jerk your thumb towards their thumb. That's what the girl demonstrated. It doesn't have to be choreographed. It's a matter of attacking the grip at the weakest point. What these MMA fighters did was when some grabs your wrist, jerking your hand deeper into their hand. They attacked the grip at the strongest possible point. No wonder it didn't work. It's not about whether or not it was choreographed. They were simply doing the technique wrong. I've taught this technique to 5 and 6 year olds and they're able to get out of the grip of grown adults holding tightly. We vary our grip and grab with different hands or different angles, and as long as they apply they principle of jerking thumb to thumb they're able to get away. If it works for 5 and 6 year olds against grown adults, but these MMA fighters can't figure it out, then it's a problem. Note that they weren't making that point in this part of the video. They simply did the grab different, and didn't understand that a different grip angle means you have to change your angle of escape.
I would go as far as to say what she is teaching is not only useless but dangerous. Because to teach something that doesn’t work and give them a belief it dose could get them hurt more. With all due respect this lady should leave this to the professionals, for all her good intentions she could get people hurt or worse!
Remember, girls! All you have to do is to be a foot taller and half again as strong as the guy, because that's the only way you'll ever get those inane moves to work! Do you know what people won't see coming? Eye gouging! As my master said, if it ever comes down to it, it's better to be sentenced by twelve than carried by six.
Interesting that you mention this. I am a pro-wrestling fan, and discussions of real locker-room bullying come up all the time. Many pro wrestlers aren't good real-world fighters, so it's often said that if you are accosted by some bad ass, gouge his eyes, first thing.
On the ground eye gouging works but not standing it’s a relatively small target and hard to hit when someone is moving constantly i don’t think it should be completely ignored but not a first resort either most people dont have the guts to put their skinny finegrs in someone’s slimy eye either and it wouldn’t be hard to defend unless you’re really in there socket
Sure, but the main thrust of my argument is to use "dirty tricks", and making use of those long nails, stiletto heels or whatever you have on hand. Eye gouging isn't really my first step either, but just getting your hands in someone's face would be plenty distracting. None of those fancy schmancy submission holds where you pivot a few times on an axis or anything. Variety is key, though. I know a girl whose neck is sort of freakish in that you can poke about a finger-length into it from the front without any discomfort (from her, I could't help but cringe). Another guy I know's got hyper-mobile joints, painlessly hyper-extending out of most submission holds I can think of. Some people might be too high to feel pain. A good idea in general is getting used to fighting. I've seen people slapping at attackers while closing their eyes and looking away, and it reminds me how bad most people really are at fighting.
I have a couple girl friends that went to self defense classes and wanted to test what they learned on me and I’m no martial artist but I could overcome them easily with strength alone. edit: These classes were taught by some random chick, who probably had no combat experience whatsoever. I’m pretty sure if you wanna learn self defense you actually need to train.
Best self defense for a woman ist to train with a stronger male who knows about fighting, Martial arts and real selfdefense, one to one. Not as a Class or group where a weak and slow Lady trains against another weak and slow Lady. And it needs that there is a fighter INSIDE the woman, and not a lamb. I train my own wife and she is just hard and can punch and kick painfull, and she loves to fight hard. And after 40 yrs Martial arts and self defense training with the best instructors in different styles (Taekwondo, Hapkido, FMA etc) i think i can teach her some helpfull things for the street.
@@jacobsummers3441 OK, ive laughed loud and now try that Toys in a real serious fight against maybe two bad attackers. Pepperspray dont work in most cases, its fast empty, spray/mist gets you easyly too (i know what i say) esp by a little bit wind, liquid must pointed exactly and if it not work properly the attacker will smasch you in pieces bec hes really pissed. maybe its a good tool when its prepared in the hand and in some special situations but take a look on real situations and tests of that. And a stun gun isnt to buy in some countrys and works only against one attacker. So its all about the right situation and in 90% of all cases its worthless.
As a 5'5, 110lb woman, I can say that the only thing that is truly effective and not complicated for a person who doesn't know martial arts and wants to stay alive is punching the guy in the balls and running away as fast as you can. also, can I say how much I love this guy? he's so funny!
even if women learn how to fight, they still cant do shit against a bigger man unless they target the balls, eyes or something. they are extremely weak compared to us
Vrixiz women cant fight men at all, judo or no judo. Unless the woman is extremely well trained and the guy is some scrawny pansy who has no idea how to fight, a man will always dominate the weaker, slower, less agile, and fragile af female in a fight
I got assaulted and mugged from behind one time; they grabbed me lifted me into the air and threw me down then pinned me to the ground whilst their buddy searched my pockets. For me I was completely helpless and overpowered cos I was ambushed - I think the fact I didn't resist is why they didn't hurt me afterwards, they just ran off.
Carry around a steel case lighter and a full spray of some sort. Learn how to make flame. You can always use the spray as a initial weapon to spray their face and then run for help, seems most reliable. Or use the lighter and spray to burn their ass. Keep both handy in an open purse.
This is so needed. Self defense classes are a waste of time. You can’t learn how to defend yourself without serious committed training with real attacks. This takes time. It’s not a magic pill.
The best self defense advice that I have ever received and was actually able to test out in a real life situation came from my grandfather. He was a career combat vet, served through the duration of the Korean and Vietnam War. His advice was this; if you're ever backed into a corner just stick your thumb in their eye. That's it. That's the pinnacle of 40+ years military experience from a combat vet. In 2004 I had a drug addicted suicidal man break into my apartment while I was passed out on my couch after a 14 hour shift as a well driller.I sleep on my stomach with my dominate arm under my pillow and dude straddled my back and repeatedly tried to drive a deer skinning knife through the back of my skull. When I came to and realized to the best of my ability what was going on (someone is on top of me, and they're hitting me) my fight or flight response kicked in something fierce. I pushed myself upward with that dominate arm that was pinned beneath me, grabbed my attacker by his collar with my off arm and pulled him down with me. Then with my dominate arm I reached up above and behind me, felt his face in my open hand and shoved my thumb past the digit into his eye socket. TL;DR All this multi-step complex self defense garbage is just that. In a real life or death situation you will instinctively defend yourself without conscious thought and if you couple that very effective evolutionary survival instinct (seriously this is a big chunk of the reason why humans became the dominate species on this planet) with some bare bones simple self defense techniques like "stick a thumb in their eye" you can get the upper hand from a position of disadvantage. TL:DR 2.0 Stick your thumb in their eye dummy.
ANTIMATTER THE DESTROYER OF WORLDS Well this is the internet, and youtube to boot so you should be skeptical of anything you read. That being said I challenge you to name a self defense technique or target of opportunity that is easier to attack or easier to wound and psychologically more unsettling as getting a thumb stuck right into your eye. Seriously take a second to imagine how it would feel if you were grappling with someone and they stuck their thumb up to the middle digit into your eye socket. Worst still imagine that person got it in far enough to leverage your eye out of the socket. Show me the person that can take that type of assault and still be combat effective and I will change my user name to theirs. BTW don't you dare say anything mean about The Seagal. He's the epitome of the 80's movie bad ass, and he was probably the greatest lawman of all time behind Jesus.
well, it wouldn't be that effective against someone with a fake eye made of an air balloon. you would simply pop it while he keeps smacking your sorry confused ass haha
for such is the eye is something only war veterans know, in several seminars martial arts or self defense will tell you about the fingers and attacks to the eye, it is very easy that or a kick to the balls, if it is true self defense that is what is indicated.
Its generally the only viable option someone has to beat a stronger oponent ..go after the soft parts ie balls, eyes and throat...sometimes bending fingers might be good as well...
I did karate, and then tried TKD... It was absolute trash and I regret spending hundreds on it. Karate taught me valuable lessons while TKD taught me how to dance. Not impressed...
spirit9871 Your TWD classes must not have been part of the ATA. American TWD starts off with basic training such as high/low block, palm heel, upper cut, round/side kick, and other such basic things. TWD is an effective Martial arts (as I've learned from experience XD) Don't let one bad experience deter you from TWD as a whole, however if you're gonna learn TWD I'd also say learn jiu jitsu, or other grappling Martial arts as well.
Same experience here.TWD sucks compared to karate and pretty much every other form of martial arts except for maybe Russian slap fighting or those BS chi hamekama energy scams.
My ex grew up around violence. Throughout our 8yr realationship we would practice self-defense, including him teaching me pressure points. I'm sure he felt helpful and I told him I appreciated it. But there was never a time that I could win. He was the same height as me, just 40lbs heavier, but stronger. (Granted I wasn't punching, scratching, or hitting his genitals. And he wasn't trying to actually hurt me.) Each time that I forfeited, it ingrained the reality: There'd be no way in a real life situation to physically defend. I will always carry mace.
When adrenaline is up, hitting the genitals is likely to be nearly ineffective, same with scratches and bites... I've fenced on after taking longsword hits which chipped a collar bone and raised a bruise the size of two dinner plates. I didn't even notice the hit as being 'anything much' at the time, only adapted some movements because of some shoulder discomfort at full extension. I regularly take hits which raise 'white welts' inside a larger bruise on forearms and upper arms through a Gambeson (elbows have a hard shell). These are 'normal' to me, and sure, they are more or less limiting during the next few days (and in the more severe cases weeks or months, but they have never stopped me there and then). Anything much short of a dislocated joint or an actual arm break isn't likely to stop someone who is 'fighty' and or drunk or on drugs, and even then I would prefer to run, than to try to fight if I had any kind of choice. I don't know if I would 'be able' to actually deliver that much force to someone - technically, yes I know I can, but being willing to do so is something else - and if I wasn't... then I have no real chance of winning a 'serious' in earnest fight. It is one thing putting someone into a joint lock they tap out of, and another to actually push that far enough to dislocate or break it.
Mathias B. Yea, what's up with not-kicking-balls-sacks thing? I highly doubt a rapist will wear a guard to his nuts since he's gonna pull them out anyway.
You're doing the techniques wrong. You're supposed to channel your inner chi power into a wave of mind controlling force designed to cause temporary brain death to your attacker, allowing you to perform these techniques exactly the way they did in the video. Didn't anyone teach you guys real effective martial arts? It doesn't work for you because you are not a believer. LMFAO I had such a hard time writing this. Too much laughing.
Dont underestimate the hardness of a humans heel, I broke my brothers foot by stamping on it by accident when we were teenagers, he had boots on and I was wearing skate shoes. Bursted veins also hurt a lot.
This kind of self-defense videos are actually kinda disgusting. They make money from women's fear of a potentially real threat by selling them an easy solution that wont work but sounds good theoretically in the mind of someone who knows nothing about real fights. In the process they made the situations more dangerous for the women who tries this because it would probably be safer for them to just run than to try any of these techniques. Spend the money on cabs instead.
How come all the commenters who advise to "just RUN" ignore the fact that in the video the woman is already on the floor/have been grabbed/held etc., meaning that just running is already impossible, she needs to free herself somehow in order to escape. Completely ignoring the situation.
Yeah that was probably the most stupid one. There's a 99% chance the aggressor will be wearing shoes and will barely feel a stomp in his toes. Even if it hurts it's nowhere near enough to stagger someone from pain... So stupid.
It would be worse. Ineffective counter-attack would turn the attacker more aggressive, which is not something you would want if he is stronger, brawls with stronger people would NEVER end good.
I've been wrestling for 18 years and if you think your going to get out of a bear hug like that just give up on even trying you will be there till you collapse.
Ramsey, my 16 year old daughter has asked for you to show alternatives that actually work. I showed her some stuff, but I think it would be a good idea for a follow up video.
Now days, judo normally focuses on being a sport (cannot grab below belt, limited time grabbing on one side of the body). My kids and I are taking judo and I am not sure that it is a martial art that can be quickly learned to be effective in a street fight. However, since you can practice at full effort with an active opponent during rondori, you do learn quickly learn that throws and holds are not as effective when you don't have a willing partner. I highly doubt that I will be able to use my favorite throws ippon seoi nage or hiza garuma in an actual fight. A person hitting me repeatedly would disrupt and definitely weaken my grip. I might be able to do an osoto gari or makikomi sweep if I am quick since I do have a lot of mass and my momentum would make these throws easier if I tried it very early in the fight. For true self defense, I would have kids also take a striking arts class.
Always difficult to know what techniques would work in a real situation, I would say causing noise will help though if she believes that anyone would hear her, they say that screaming "Fire" is actually the most effective because they say that people will ignore shouts for help or rape (sick right) but apparently everyone wants to see a fire, sometimes I despair at humanity. Other advice would be to try and avoid situations where an attack can occur like avoiding shortcuts through dark places and sticking to well lit populated places where possible. As for a martial art system, she would be best off finding a system which works for her personally than me saying something like Ju-Jitsu or karate ect. That being said Ju-Jitsu based systems do tend to be very practical especially if you train in a non-sporting version.
James Ashcroft but if they’re wearing heels they have a way weaker structure so It’d be easier for someone to throw and subdue them. (But that doesn’t mean you don’t have a point...literally)
Mythguard Whatever else I'll try to do. Well, an actual foot stop can be pretty effective to escape from a bear hug, but you're supposed to drive your heel into their instep, in the hopes that breaking their foot will cause their hold to loosen somewhat. She was aiming vaguely for the toes, it looks like, so it would probably be significantly less effective.
Techniques that have been around for thousands of years and have been highly successful and are no where near as good a techniques some random girl made up in 30 minutes, obviously.
In my martial arts I was usually used to play the "attacker" so women could practice moves on me. At 6'2" tall, 230 lbs it was a good experience to teach women to avoid fighting men in most cases.
Even better, If she runs suddenly away while he holds a gun at her , he could panic and kill her. He would not kill her if she stands still and gives him the money. Its fine to run away if she gets to divert his attention sucessfully when he is out for a second.
Felt the same way during a school training on how to escape a student without injuring the student. Escaping hair pulls, the technique only marginally worked if they grabbed at the roots. If you get grabbed by your ponytail or long hair, apparently the instructor goes into catatonia and you're screwed. 🤷♀️
Hair grabbing gets messy quickly. This is a sobering video on the subject that’s worth a look: ruclips.net/video/uwNny3sgDp0/видео.html People always think I’m joking when they ask me how to deal with hair grabbing and pulling, and my answer is “shave your head”. It’s the only 100% sure defense.
Love the shirt! And thanks for your efforts to protect people from bad advice and information that can get people hurt, and makes self defense in general look bad.
A guy who claimed to be an MMA expert once asked me what my first move in a street fight would be. I said a kick to the balls. He says to me, "A kick to the balls? Dude, where's your honor?" so I said, "Fuck your honor, I'm winning this thing."
Males will instinctively protect their groin and will elevate the intensity of the conflict - I know if someone went for a groin shot with me they are going to the hospital....I'm no master street fighter- but I've never seen a nut shot land in a donnybrook. Not once.
My sister tried the whole wrist thing. I didn't do anything but hold on to her wrist like she asked me to. She couldn't get out. If I was an actual assailant, I could've hit her, or worse. A lot of these tricks like the video these guys debunked are pure bullshit. Thank you for informing other people, guys! Good job, and keep it up!

The freaking hilarious thing at 4:48 is even with a completely compliant partner performing exactly what she asked so she knows exactly what to expect, at an incredibly slow speed lacking in any sort of power she still gets pushed over by the punch when attempting to block. Such an incredible combination of terrible foot placement, posture and block technique...surely she would have to train to become that bad at something?
I've seen that move before and it always looks so stupid, like yeah are just going to totally be able to smack away this and the next 12 punches coming at you at 60+mph because you're the fucking flash or some shit.
n. M yeah but it would be better to take their example and try to learn better footwork even if you don’t use it to block proper footwork can help you duck or avoid the punch
n. M Yeah maybe some trained men can parry a blow like that on occasion if it's telegraphed, but you're a fool if you think a woman can parry an attack from a grownass man and not get knocked down doing it. This isn't Hollywood movie time, grown men hit really hard and really fast.
It is a sad fact, that we forget how useless we were when we started, but even sadder when idiots promote themselves as experts. It is dangerous to try to apply half assed techniques and worse to present them as a 'format for complete protection'........ there are some shortcuts in martial arts, but even those require spirit, timing and the foot placement that cannot be manufactured via video or any other means than 'time on the mats' or serious training in the basics. Grrr, don't get me started......... respect, CON
n. M yeah but that's the whole point of self-defense training. To give the women good techniques to train in so that they can learn the footwork and proper parrying techniques. That way they can have expert footwork when the time comes because they trained by someone who knows what they're doing. It would be better for a woman who needs to defend herself against a punch to learn to Parry and slip with Incredible footwork and follow up with the studying uppercut and a lead Jab than to learn just a bad basic technique wouldn't it?
Greetings. I've been a martial artist practitioner for more than a decade now, and I also come from a family of martial artists, practicing kickboxing, uechi ryu karate, and aikido. First things first: women's self defense is marketing trick. There is no self defense made specifically for women, and people who insist that there is are, well, morons. Now, there are a couple of things I would like to point out. Some of the techniques performed by a girl from the video are beginner-level variations of aikido techniques. Certain variations of those techniques are actually quite effective, but only once you master them. Her performance of these skills are on a beginner level, without any opponent distraction, and ill-timed. Performing these techniques the way she did will most certainly result in getting your ass kicked. Secondly, keys are an excellent weapon, but not for striking. Lastly, people have a wrong idea about self defense. Every situation in which you have to resort to self defense is, and should be treated, as a life and death situation. Going easy on your assailant may result in you getting injured or worse. There's no honor in survival, so feel free to go for the eyes, the throat, the groin. In case a guy has a gun - just give him your wallet, you're not stronger than a bullet.
@@tylerv5173 Please do read my post entirely, as I believe I made a solid point. Now, aikido might not be as effective for a skipping and jumping fighter in an octagon, but yet again, they're trained to fight for entertainment. But ask anyone who had to fight to survive, did they use aikido, kickboxing, MMA? Nope, they kicked, poked, scratched, bitten, maimed, and done just about anything necessary to survive. But banking on MMA or kickboxing alone, as well as aikido or any single skill, from the perspective of survival hand-to-hand is pointless. Now, my posting here was in response to the authors ridicule on the subject. And while I do believe they made a good point, a also pointed out that the point is ill-concieved, since it's based on the subjects lack of fighting experience.
Being fooled into believing you can defend yourself is even more dangerous than knowing you can't. Even if the aggressor is not expecting a reaction, those silly techniques wouldn't work on anyone who's not made of cardboard or has brittle-bone disease.
While in college I was laughing at a women's self defense class over that front choke hold defense technique. I was in the gym lifting while the class was being held in some open space next to the weight area. The instructor called me over and asked what I found funny. I told her the knee drive into the stomach wasn't going to work. Better would be to teach the young women to drive the top of their foot into the attackers groin. HARD! She attempted to prove it would work with me as the aggressor. It pretty much ended as it did when tried here.
I mean it would work alright but after the initial shock unless they're so gone they won't feel would buy you about 15-20 seconds to get help until they go back
self defense techniques are designed for smaller people to incapacitate larger opponents. i.e. a 120lbs woman taking on a 200lbs dude. Now, MOST TRAINED women would not be able to knock out or incapacitate a man that size with "a punch" to the face. The only thing it will do is irritate and make them angry. Screaming would be much more effective, as it draws attention to the situation at hand. Maintaining distance with leg kicks would be much more effective, and on an untrained body, have more success rendering an opponent unable to run. A liver kick, or a solid teep kick to the solar-plexus. But more importantly MANAGE the distance with footwork, head movement. In the unfortunate event that they've already wrapped up the arms with a body-lock, there are escapes for that. Judo and BJJ will teach those types of escapes, and in fact, Judo would be a better option, because it focuses on the stand-up. BJJ is excellent for groud/newaza. Whichever you select, it's gonna take YEARS of practice and dedication for someone with a 80lbs deficit to be able to EFFECTIVELY out-manouvre their opponent, ESPECIALLY from a surprise attack.
@@alexkmoz I agree. In fact in most cases a woman would not be attacked like a man, with boxing and windmill punches. A women would be grapped and holded and in that cases a good knee kick to the quads can wonder working, a punch isnt a good idea.
ROFL........she must have found those moves in the back of a cooking magazine.....hilarious and absolutely ridiculous, I really hope nobody took her video serious...
A shocking number of internet ninjas in the comments section here have vehemently defended these awesomely bad techniques. At first I thought they were trolling, but apparently most of them were serious!
@@Ivana9910 Though running is actually one of the things when you put the average woman against the average man, that women can actually do fairly well. Usually due to longer leg to body ratio and more developed leg muscles. While men have natural advantages to upper body strength and lung capacity. It evens out really. At the end of the day when you are talking about athletes, yes, men will almost certainly always be better. The reason for this is mostly that we have a more powerful cardiovascular system than for any other reason. We take in more oxygen and transport it around our body faster. It makes training easier and more effective for men. In certain sports such as soccer the gap really is narrowing as more women take sports more seriously, but in physically explosive sports where surges of strength and speed as in basketball and American football are more necessary than measured skill and tactics, yes women will never be able to compete on quite the same level. And yes that is a random shot fired at handegg, fuck that gay stop and go sport. Let the players take steroids and rip each other in half again and it might be fun. Otherwise soccer is way more interesting and physical these days.

I dated a girl who studied traditional Okinawan hand to hand and self defense extensively- she showed me the things she’d learned over 8 years/ 3times a week sparring and studying, and I’m sure she would would have given this a raspberry-
Choreographed shit doesn’t do it- especially when the attacker in the demo is nothing more than a passive dummy.
The technique she uses to break the wrist grab DOES work. I'm not speaking for all the others. The problem with that particular technique is the guys here copied the attacker wrong, but then copied the defender exactly, and ended up going into the strength of the grip instead of attacking at its weakest point.
I'm not talking about breaking the wrist. I'm talking about breaking free of the wrist grab. It's not even a wrist lock.
The best move in women's self defense is effectively deployed pepper spray
Here's an excerpt that better explains why that myth exists:
"Myth: Some people are immune to pepper spray."
Untrue, says SABRE, a manufacturer of security products for law enforcement and the general public.
Paul Bosland, a genetics research scientist from the University of New Mexico, in Smithsonian Magazine."
Furthermore, as I state in an above comment, the PSI of mace (Varies by brand) is strong enough to do serious damage to, or blind, someone if you spray them across the eyes at closer than 2 feet (which you will likely be by the time you use it) so even IF the effects didn't occur, you could do serious damage spraying them in the eyes.
Watch it and tell me how effective you think a chopstick or pen are going to be.
ruclips.net/video/ez5JGHEvwH0/видео.html
Lets not even get into the what would happen if you tried to use a knife and they took it away from you.
@@Warrior_Culture damn you put way more effort into this than you needed to. I respect that, bravo 👏
False senses of security is what drives me the most crazy about women's self defense seminars.
it takes us about a 6 hours to teach even basic wrist escapes to women in our classes.
If this garbage was really an issue it wouldn't exist. The demand for nonsense is so strong because the people it appeals to never find themselves in situations where they have to use it. If they did, those that didn't die would adopt effective training methodologies.
It mostly depends on the ppl learning it. Maybe their techniques are wrong or that it is a scam who knows
Thank you for dispelling this crap. I laughed my ass off when I saw the original video, but then realized it could be quite dangerous if someone believed they could effectively defend themselves in this way, especially women against a larger male opponent.

Why not just go for the groin?

Also, pants can be worn by both men and women: if women started buying men pants for the pockets, not only no one would stop them, but in a matter of months female full-pocket pants would be all the rage. CONGRATS you've increased someone's mental trauma without being near them!
If a grown man with previous martial Arts experience had difficulty being successful with those techniques, imagine how useless they would be for a 120 pound woman with no fight experience at all.
( strike against the thumb, done- physical common sense 101 )-
Ramsey’s point: orchestrated self defense videos won’t teach a woman ( or anyone )the realities of how to deal with these situations.
So you’re off to the side of the subject arguing for the efficacy of a way to escape a grab. In slow motion. Against a choreographed attack. Go watch some real attack videos on security cams, or whatever-
Street attacks are quick, unpredictable, nauseatingly violent, and go to ground in seconds flat- and that’s IF you can see it coming.... throw in the surprise element, and it gets worse-
I’ve been there- bludgeoned in the head, three surprise attackers- no warning, no reason- was laid unconscious twice in 2 violent minutes. I’d be dead were it not for those who intervened, and police.
I was lucky.
I see Ramsey’s point clearly -
Apparently, you are missing it.

"Better to be sentenced by twelve than carried by six" Good one, I'll have to remember that :)
I've seen people slapping at attackers while closing their eyes and looking away, and it reminds me how bad most people really are at fighting.

even if women learn how to fight, they still cant do shit against a bigger man unless they target the balls, eyes or something. they are extremely weak compared to us
Vrixiz women cant fight men at all, judo or no judo. Unless the woman is extremely well trained and the guy is some scrawny pansy who has no idea how to fight, a man will always dominate the weaker, slower, less agile, and fragile af female in a fight
There is always learning how to kill which in many ways is better.
Of course there's a substitute and humankind has been using it for centuries - weapons.
vance astrovik well women can grab you by the balls you can't do that to them
You're supposed to let go, duh, it's the attacker's fault for not performing these moves right.

Why is some of you guys automatically assuming OP is a woman?

And he wasn't trying to actually hurt me.)
Each time that I forfeited, it ingrained the reality: There'd be no way in a real life situation to physically defend.
Learn judo.

You're doing the techniques wrong.
Kinda like hiding under your desk if a nuke explodes
Many times hiding under something is only to preserve your teeth so they can identify your body
How come all the commenters who advise to "just RUN" ignore the fact that in the video the woman is already on the floor/have been grabbed/held etc., meaning that just running is already impossible, she needs to free herself somehow in order to escape. Completely ignoring the situation.
My last time on 100m was 19.2 seconds and that was 30 years ago. Running is and was never an option for me.
@WeeItsNookies Oh myyyyy you have so no clue.

On the self defense video, the guy just let's go with no resistance. If your mugging someone, you don't flop because someone stepped on your toesies.
Hello Bob, I would suggest Judo, specially for girls or people with less size! ;)
Bjj is like judo but more ground focused and is good self defence especially for girls which will help them to defend against stronger people.
Glenn Dikeman some judo clubs will teach street method versions as well as competition based waza
As a former soccer player I can confirm that foot stomps are useless against anyone with a moderate pain tolerance.
Unless the woman is wearing heels. They could go right through your foot
James Ashcroft but if they’re wearing heels they have a way weaker structure so It’d be easier for someone to throw and subdue them. (But that doesn’t mean you don’t have a point...literally)
James Ashcroft they would have to be tiny stilletos. The average heel wouldnt do much.
Then there's the chance that instead of a puncturing an opponant's foot, the heel snaps off instead and they're now even more off-balance than before.
This video is both hilarious and informative. I seriously could not stop laughing :'D

Techniques that have been around for thousands of years and have been highly successful and are no where near as good a techniques some random girl made up in 30 minutes, obviously.

Such an incredible combination of terrible foot placement, posture and block technique...surely she would have to train to become that bad at something?
I've seen that move before and it always looks so stupid, like yeah are just going to totally be able to smack away this and the next 12 punches coming at you at 60+mph because you're the fucking flash or some shit.

Agreed tbh. Also I'm surprised this doesn't have a favorite from the youtuber
@@kelmirosue3251 It's more recent than the others, maybe that's why
Aikido isn't effective, and banking on eye pokes and groin shots would almost certainly result in the female being assaulted.

Id like to see more of this. No bullshitting. They even sparred to prove them wrong. Amazing.
How about a punch to the face? One of my favorite self defense techniques.
Too easy. Where will they get some money for to teach "hit them in the face"?
