Hi Bo, your videos have been a great help the last few days. I'm wondering if the Keith McMillen MIDI expander would work to serve the same purpose as your USB hub. Unfortunately the Kenton and Retrokits look to be about 100+, which is a bit much for just a single purpose ;) however, the McMillen look to be only $60... If you can, please let me know if you think it would work! Thanks so much! See you soon :)
Hey Bo, quick favor. Could you possibly post a link for the usb midi hub you would recommend. I saw Retrokits R006, and it's a bit pricey right now. What do you think I could easily use in its place?
I think he probably created a lot of confusion regarding the "USB midi hub". There is no need for any special device, you can connect the launchpad up to hardware in the same way as you'd connect any other usb controller that gets both data and power over same usb cable (which is many). For example, I connect my Launchpad X directly to my iPad using the CCK adapter on the ipad, same as I do my keystep or any other controller. If I'm connecting multiple devices I just use a generic powered usb hub, again the Launchpad X works just the same as with any of my other usb controllers. You can even have a usb-to-din-midi adapter (e.g., Midiplus 2 x 2) connected to that hub, and the Launchpad messages can get routed to hardware connected by traditional midi plugs. Absolutely no need for any special "usb midi hub". You will need a "usb midi hub" only if you're trying to connect to hardware devices without having a "usb host" (pc/mac/ipad) as part of your setup. In other words, you can use a generic usb hub if it's connected to a pc/mac/ipad device that acts as the "usb host". But that's the case with any usb controller, not specific to launchpads.

BoBeats custom scale keyboard on the user mode is great but I like to be able to switch scales and keys at will during composing and jamming... If the scale mode in the launchpad X works just like the Launchpad pro that would be ideal.

There has been considerable interaction (some of it positive, some not so much) between Celtic and Scandanavian peoples over many centuries,, dating back to long before the modern English or Swedish languages developed or the Roman invasions of the British Isles. For that reason, many similarities can be found among those Northwest European cultures. Traditional Celtic, Norwegian, and Swedish music appear to share some common roots, and perhaps some language and speech sounds share common roots as well. www.transceltic.com/pan-celtic/celts-and-vikings-scandinavian-influences-celtic-nations

does this have step sequencer?
No thats only on the Pro version
@@BoBeats I see.. probably will go for Arturia Beatstep pro for drum section :)
Is this standalone?
no no, its a midi controller. But with a usb hub you can actually use parts of it standalone
Bo, does the Note mode with scale settings work in standalone mode as well?
Yes notes work I didnt try scales... but I assume so. And you can put a custom scales keyboard on the custom page too
BoBeats custom scale keyboard on the user mode is great but I like to be able to switch scales and keys at will during composing and jamming...
If the scale mode in the launchpad X works just like the Launchpad pro that would be ideal.
What do we really need to make music ???
BoBeats more like Bob Eats
You had build this USB MIDI HUB for yourself?
You have to be the first one? Thanks Bo! Appreciated.
which difference with launchpad pro?????

What USB MIDI hub is that???????? Does it have USB C ability?
I never used a launchpad but I’m gonna tell you what’s new… How? You never used a launchpad, remember?😂
Its called research son
Yeah, ok... But is hard to really know the all the differences if you never used before! Anyway, that wasn't hate, I was just amused how it sounds!
And by the way, if you're not at least 65 years old, you can't call me son! 😉But if you are, then ok dad!
Happy I sold my lppro 😂
Re the midi usb hub, I wasn't able to get one from hobbytronics, so I made one using raspberry pi. Here's the video I used for inspiration. Let me know if you want me to share my settings. ruclips.net/video/N4yUduOqR3M/видео.html
Launchpad Pro VS Launpad X?

Do you mind me asking where are you from? You sound like you have picked up an Irish accent but obviously not where you are from lol
irish accent. First time I heard that. I am Swedish. However Ive been to Ireland so maybe i picked something up
BoBeats Haha yeah you have a touch of the Irish accent it’s interesting
There has been considerable interaction (some of it positive, some not so much) between Celtic and Scandanavian peoples over many centuries,, dating back to long before the modern English or Swedish languages developed or the Roman invasions of the British Isles. For that reason, many similarities can be found among those Northwest European cultures. Traditional Celtic, Norwegian, and Swedish music appear to share some common roots, and perhaps some language and speech sounds share common roots as well.

Bob Conway That’s really interesting!
Too bad this doesn't have a step sequencer....
Är du svensk?
Yepp
L.p. pro has a note mode
Yepp, but this is not a LP Pro. This is the followup to the Launchpad mk2 I believe
@@BoBeats ahhhhhhh that makes more sense
Hey Bo. Your content has always been good, and your presentation too ... but you claim to be going "professional" ... and yet you are doing ever-more-ridiculous poses and expressions on your title pages that look like some kid who's just discovered RUclips ... the equivalent of a presentation using every font and transition effect available.
I may be in a minority of one ... but if I hadn't looked at your earlier stuff, I wouldn't bother with a look at your recent posts on Push, Deluge ... when the content is good, look the part?
Thanks for letting me know bud :-) always care about what long time viewers think
Nothing new, always the same stuff.
Hi BoBeats great video! I was wondering if you could please give me your personal opinion. Im trying to decide between the circuit mono station, the roland sh-01a or the roland se-02. I am currently building my setup and at the moment im using Ableton live, maschine mk3 and a minilogue xd, so im looking to add a nice bass synth to the setup. The type of music i make varies between downtempo experimental / deep house to a slightly aggressive techno. I use a lot of analogue sounds and sampled instruments such as pianos, saxophone and trumpets so i would like to add something that could blend nicely with these sounds. Ps: i also have the novation circuit (not sure if that might influence a lot since im using ableton live). Thank you. Subbed 👌🏼
