Thanks for a very interesting and entertaining advent Olly! On the tapered thread it might be easier to just make a tapered tap. I'm definitely looking forward to the projects for next year!

Thanks Mick. Making a tapered tap is no easier, as I don't have a powered compound, so can I only cut a parallel thread, unless I'm missing something? I hope you're having a good Christmas and have a happy new year.

Mornin' Olly, Great review of the calendar, well done. Really enjoyed this series, thanks too to all your friends for their contributions.
I think doing some electronics could be very interesting to do.
On the taper thread I think the thread form is perpendicular to the axis not the taper, NPT and BSP (R, Rc) are, don't think I've seen metric ones. Maybe when your CNC machines are finished you do some thread milling (interpolation) that would be interesting!!
Have great Christmas, you deserve it. All the best!!

    • @ollysworkshop
      @ollysworkshop  10 месяцев назад +1

To be honest I just looked at the thread, I didn't check against any standards, but it looks very much like the thread is perpendicular to the angle of the taper. I will now double check. The CNC machines will need some extra hardware to support threading, but it's certainly doable ( I think!). Thank you for all your comments, you must be my most engaged viewer. Merry Christmas to you and your family. See you in the new year!

Great series again Olly. The effort required to put out so much decent stuff in such a short time isn't lost on me. Credit where it's due -it's astonishing.
Put your feet up for a bit and recharge the (camera) batteries. I look forward to your next film, whatever it is. Wishing you all the best to you and the family!

    well done Olly,
If you want a chuck out next year with the AC you can count on me👍👍
Like you i'm only in to this for motivational aspects,
i don't mind admitting it helps my mental health situation that bowled me over for six, many years ago.
look forward to all your projects for next year
merry xmas to you and your family🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅🎅

Thanks Kev, especially for helping me out. It was a real boost to get support from all of you. The community around our channels is great, machining, engineering and similar interests are rare. Growing up I simply didn't know anyone with the slightest bit of interest in anything I wanted to do. I suppose I'm thick headed and did what I wanted rather than what was expected. It was certainly isolating. Being able to share and discuss the things that make you tick is very therapeutic. Merry Christmas and a happy new year 🎄🎄

Hi Olly, Thanks for not naming names re angled taps🥵, I now do understand the science behind the issue thanks to your kind patience, just one of the reasons that I watch you.
Merry Xmas and a Happy New Years to You and Your loved ones

If you asked a question, then there will be 10 other people thinking the same who weren't brave enough to ask. It's an interesting problem though as unless you have the tap, there's no easy way to do it with a hobby lathe. Thanks for all your comments. Have a great Christmas 🎄

@@ollysworkshop Thanks Olly, I'm getting to the age where if you don't ask, you may never get the chance, but I do still have my curiosity and like to learn new things even if I may never get to use them.
      All the best
