There is a live recording of the band performing this as an encore off mic. They are just as clean and elegant as in this recording, with no conducting apart from Tim counting off the beats of the final section (a tricky patch) with his fingers. As posts below have said, this was Adam Chance's idea and he had a lot to do with the arrangement and direction. This just shows what a fantastic contribution he has made to the band's development.
AMAZING PRECISION!! An exquisite 5-part harmony masterpiece!!! Besides the unbelievable harmonies, getting to hear Adam Rupp's sweet tenor actually singing is such a great treat ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
Home Free was in Australia this past March I think. They recorded the Horses with Travis Collins and Amy Shepard. This song is one of my favorites of theirs. HF is known for tight harmonies and this really shows it. Brothers in Arms, In the Blood, Die a Happy Man. Good reaction! 😍
This is one of Home Free's masterpieces, directed by Chance, and leaving every reactor speechless for years. Nothing better demonstrates the virtuosity of each and every member of this phenomenal vocal group. Totally in sync on every line, with both the unison (no harmony) and harmony parts summing greater than their parts. Thank you for sharing your appreciation and respect for these awesome artists.
I know quite a few videos they use warehouses type places I don’t know where this was done . I few songs that I can think of that are warehouses type places are Brothers in Arms Woman Amen / Female End On The Road They were just in Australia a couple of months ago toured and recorded a video called The Horses ft Travis Collins and Amy Sheppard
This showcases their real voices. They don’t use the program that corrects voices. This is all real. They do this live on stage in front of an audience. Amazing.
I have always loved CSN’s original, and am totally obsessed with Home Free’s cover. It seems so simple but in truth is very complex in its arrangement. Absolutely a master class in 5 part harmony. Will always be one of my Home Free favorites.
I grew up listening to Crosby, Stills & Nash & had their album with this song Helplessly Hoping. Absolutely loved them & their harmonies. This song is full of alliterations. Home Free more than does justice to all the songs they cover. And this song is perfection to me with the 5 part harmonies. A true masterpiece! I can't say enough about how great these guys are & humble while still staying respectful to the original song.
Steven Stills wrote a great song here. It was an easy radio play, led by guitar. They aren’t too different than that original, but with 5 part harmony instead of 3, and stripped of all instruments, the effect is quite different. Like every music video everywhere, this is the prerecorded track they are singing to. But there is an audience can of them singing it live at the Ryman. No mikes. They’ve been in Australia before. Most recently at CMC in March. None of their concert dates for 2024 have been announced yet.
Home Free weaves a magical tapestry of harmony here. It's just hauntingly beautiful. Probably my favorite of all of their songs, although everything they do turns to gold.
Tyler, if you get a chance to see them live definitely take it. You won't be disappointed. These guys are as good or better live than in the studio. Their all down to earth and very humble. They interact with the audience and the laughs are endless. They can make you cry with one song and have you rolling on the floor laughing with another. Absolutely phenomenal group of guys. Have a great day!
So glad to have found another reactor who loves our boys!! They are even better live if you can believe this! Can’t wait to watch more with you, just hit subscribe! ❤
What a great reaction - thanks so much! This is possibly my very favourite Home Free song, closely followed by Brother, which I do recommend you check out - the video is hilarious, but the vocals are second to none! You may have to watch it multiple times 😂😉
Wonderful .. and yes yes.. you HAVE to see them live. We have had the honor and delight of seeing them a few times in various local venues and they are as stated below... even better in real life Hard to believe, but true! New Sub here.. Thanks for all you do.. and thank you for so visibly enjoying this song and HF's talents.
This is so very amazing! They did more than justice to this song! The beat boxer sang in this as well. He has a beautiful tenor voice. They are all so extremely talented. Love your reaction!
The capability of excellence by each of the individuals in this group is off the charts awesome that allows them the flexibility to do so many types of vocalizations and to do it exceptionally well. I have not found a genre they are afraid to tackle whether individually or as a group they are amazing. Then top that off with their arrangements that augment the presentation to be "Home Free" owned.❣
Chance directed this video and filming it in stark black & white really accentuated the starkness of the song's arrangement. It's a master class in acapella - no beatboxing, no choreography - just impeccable harmonies & singing.
Awesome reaction, thank you! It’s how I felt the first time I heard this. New sub for more Home Free, they are absolutely my favorite group for reasons which you will discover should you choose to continue reacting them. Have a great day.
Well, it's a studio recording, and that room they're in for the video probably doesn't have anything to do with the actual location they were in, in the studio. It's just for the visuals, for the video. Just like any group that records in a studio, they'll use the high quality EQ and outboard effects, i.e. reverb, compression, limiters, whatever, to capture their voices in the best light. But there's no doubt they start off with having quality voices to begin with. So you add good voices with quality engineering and this is what you get as a result. They're awesome.
New sub for Home Free! Love how Chance and Rob sound like one voice at the beginning! Such talent! Love your reaction and that you listened twice! Howdy from a Texas Home Fry 🤠
I just discovered your channel with this haunting cover from my favorite a cappella group! It’s always great discovering new reactors who really appreciate these guys! They were in Australia months ago, but are trying to work on coming back next year. I follow two other Aussie reactors. One has seen them and the other hasn’t. They are even better live! Loved your reaction! I could tell you were in awe of their cover! How could one not be? I subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to more!
There is a video of them performing this live, off mic at the Ryman Theater. It shows how they sound out of the studio. Btw, they are supposed to come down under after December. They havent announced their dates yet. Did you see their version of the Horses they made back in March with two Aussie singers in Queensland?
This is a very raw, unshielded song and it cuts because of that. Some other 5 part songs are How Great Thou Art (Swedish hymn) and Brothers In Arms (Dire Straits) that also hit hard.
Brothers in Arms is another amazing 5 part harmony
Stunning

One word
Perfection
This is one of the best songs they do to show their singing skill and harmonizing.

They were also there in late summer.

Absolutely mesmerizing. Thank you for reacting to Home Free. The sound quality of your video was very good!
Love your reactions to the amazing talent, known as Home Free! I look forward to your future reactions! Thanks for sharing!

Chance directed this (I think he also did the arrangement). It was done at the Ryman.

Your welcome. Can’t go wrong with home free!
Just an absolute perfect gem.

So glad these guys found each other ... they are truly amazing !
Yup, a moment of silence is required at the end.

They were just in Australia. 😕
Nice reaction ❤❤
Great reaction, have you listened to their Auld Lang Syne? It's brilliant!
No I haven’t. I’ll definitely look into it though!

The see them live is to feel their energy!
I am definitely going to see them live next time they perform in Australia even if I have to travel!
This entire video was Chance's idea.
I've heard this once at the 3 concerts I was at (the 1st one in 2019) ...a standing ovation for almost 5 minutes....it was incredible
Master class in 5-part harmony. So soothing.
Great reaction. Perfect harmony. I’ve never heard another group like this. Angelic. Thank you.
One of my absolute favorites by Home Free. Much too short though.
I agree. I could sit and listen to that all day.
I love listening to their harmonies.

Chance definitely has an amazing tenor voice. I’d love to hear him lead in a song! I’m glad you enjoyed my reaction!!
Stunning isn't it? I love listening to it in my head phones as loud as my ears can cope. It brings tears to my eyes.

Goosebumps again. Every time I listen to this song I am totally immersed in their perfect 5 part harmony. Amazing!
Thier harmonies are AMAZING ❤🎉
Pure vocal harmony.
There just isn't much to say about this. So good harmonies, so well sung! So different voices, but still one. So short but o so powerful
They never cease to amaze me!

This is such a beautiful song and these boys kill it.❤️❤️❤️

🖤🍟
What do you say about these guys that hasn't been said! Thanks for reacting.
Masterpiece
I agree. I’d say there a more than a few masterpieces from home free!🙂

Watching your jaw nearly hit the floor when Tim and Adam came in was priceless and worth me subscribing!! 😃
Definitely blew my socks off! Thankyou for subscribing!

They just did an Australian tour this past summer
Bugger. I’ll have to catch them next time around!

Nice reaction, another Home Fry turning golden! For a couple chuckles try Working For A Living, The Butts Remix, Brother. Subbed.
A work of art
Check out “brothers in arms” another work of art
New sub, great reaction
Try Auld Lang Syne. Their version is phenomenal and along the same flavor as Helplessly Hoping.
Just the reverb, because it sounds the same without it.
It's a cover song.
