    Got to agree with the others, wildflowers would look great. I am one week in to seeding a whole new lawn, interesting that I have had more germination and growth from where the coverage of soil was pre existing and wher eI have gone heavy with the b and q top soil is taking a lot longer. Lesson learned, you get what you pay for I suppose! Great video as always mate cheers

      It may still take some time. You'll find that loads more should come through over the next few weeks.

    Agree with previous comments. wildflower seems to be in vogue and really would look nice there. Lawns looking great thus far. Back lawn coming along too. Keep up the good work big man.

    I love your videos. I've just reseeded my lawn as it got ruined by building work. The grass is coming through but some bald patches.. cam i feed it with that 4 in 1 feeder or will it kill it as well as any seeds? Also is that your grass verge or you just look after it? Thanks

    Sowing a wildflower garden,is not as easy as people think,not just chucking some seed on.
    They are high maintenance.

      It’s something I’m considering, but I definitely need to look into it properly before I do as I don’t want it to be a mess 😅

    I over seeded some communal grass with similar bent / fescue ratios as yourself. I watered one part and left the rest I could not reach to nature. Its come up in both. a little more sparse in the one where it only gets rain but hopefully it takes as the rye turf died off and became replaced with weeds as expected with that grass type. Bent is really useful when overseeding and not covering with anything as bird cannot see the seeds and it also seems to stay in place unlike larger seeds.
    The bluish hue is heat stress. It goes dark before browning.

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  20 дней назад +1

      You’re right about the birds not getting to the bent seed. If they can manage to find it, fair play, they deserve it!
      And I’ve found the same about it not moving. Where my bent has come through, you can see the lines where it dropped from the drop spreader which I was quite surprised about.

    Great video again mate,yh when I cut my grass like I message you before,the stripes only last 1 maybe 2 days,and the lawn just spring back up so fast,signs of healthy lawn maybe?

    • @chriscole3624
      @chriscole3624 19 дней назад +1

      You can go over stripes twice to burn them in. But be careful not to go the same way for each cut or you'll end up with horizontal grass.

    That front lawn looks superb!
    When you put down the seed, how long did you wait before fertilising? I've got the A1 Premiership Pro and the A1 Pre-Seed fertiliser but can't seem to find anything online about timings? Thanks :D

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  20 дней назад

      I fertilised as soon as the seed germinated. Gives it a good boost to get it to being a mature plant faster. Some disagree (and it almost seems too soon), but I’ve had good results doing it that way this year.

    • @chriscole3624
      @chriscole3624 19 дней назад

      I waited 10 days (8 of those under a fleece) & sprayed with a medium rate (around 9-0-0) liquid feed (along with seaweed, bio stimulants & wetting agent).
      I'll put a granular down next week. It'll take a week or more for the granular to start to work but the liquid works quicker. It's all trial & error really & you'll get to know what works on your lawn.
      Mine is sandy soil so treatments wash through quickly. The liquid feed only works for a short period & the granular is a slow release ICL feed which should last a little longer than std granular.

    Got a question for you. Looking to put stepping stones down but they won't be permanent and will onky be down for max of 3 years so no cement. What would you use under them?

    • @NoviceGardener
      @NoviceGardener  20 дней назад

      You could put some chippings underneath, or 20mm gravel. Would allow water to not sit right underneath them to some extent. Will be easy to replace once they rot 👍🏻
