This was one of Tyler's better movies. I just found your channel and am enjoying your reviews. Can you please review Mississippi Damned? The true story is based in the 90's.
I'm still trying to figure out why Diana's dumb azz kept posting their comings-and-goings when she KNEW his ex was off-the-spool. That fool pretty much gave her a map of where to come and get them. Surprised she didn't live stream Melinda trying to kill them! Crazy ex means "move in stealth"!
What I don’t understand is why didn’t anyone in her family try to put that money in a trust so her access would be limited to avoid this exact situation.
@@forthenostalgiait was clear from the beginning to me that he would’ve left her and didn’t like Melinda that much but the money and her always supporting him is why he stayed. The other woman was the one he always wanted hence why he cheated on Melinda with her then and looked her up later.
That dream was never for Melinda. Y'all saying she was mad for no reason bc you are all looking at the 10 mill. Look at the whole picture. She spent 20 years of her life catering to this man's dream. He did not focus on anything but fulfilling his own dreams. He barely worked, while she had 2 jobs. He was not affectionate. He did not consider what would make her happy in her own reality. He thought a pretty ring, a boat named "Mrs. Gayle", and a glamorous apartment would make her happy, but it's actually what HE wanted. Had this truly been for her, he wouldn't of been insensitive and gave it away to another woman. He had been promising HER this for 20 years. Yes he gave her 10 mill, which was nice. But try getting back 20 years of your life and your ability to have children. The very woman he cheated with in the beginning, and lead to her raging and losing her ability to have kids, was the same woman who got everything she had put in the years and tears for even a new baby on the way. Yes, she got everything back, but how do you erase 20 years of built up emotions and disappointment.
This ... That's the whole point he wasted 18 or 20 years of her life and gave her $10 million dollars and went and moved on and had a great life with a whole new woman and a baby and all of that
Exactly!! People think just because she got the money she was go be healed from over 20 years not to mention the same women he married the same one he got caught with she lost everything her family & all stuff like that money can’t buy her soul she’ll probably never get back plus’s SHE NEVER WANTED THE MONEY !
I pray no one ever finds themselves in a marriage like that. He made me real life mad. He was a vampire. She made sooo many unwise decisions and lost her mind at the end. To some degree, I feel for her. This movie was so upsetting. 😭
@ForeverLuxeDesigns yes and no. Some manipulation can be convincing. She was more vulnerable after her loss in the beginning. Self-esteem is usually built in the home. We don't all get that. Her decisions were very bad, but he did take advantage of her. He used sweet nothings and charm. It can take a long time and a lot of heartbreak to leave people like that. It took me all of my young adulthood to leave. I had to give my kid a better life. I can give her grace up to a certain point.
@malikwilson7387 is that supposed to fix the issues he helped cause and make up for the damage? It's nice that her reimbursed her but at what cost? The damage is already done. Everyone reacts differently and those wounds take time to heal. I wish she was able to heal at the end but her mind was already gone at that point. She wasn't right for what she did. She probably should've been committed and treated but that's not what happened. He sucks and money can't fix what he did for years. This movie is similar to other movies like it. It's honestly trauma pxrn
I just dont even know how her cat still worked for him. He was soooooooooo selfish. Extremely selfish. It worked out for him in the end but i feel like this was a “hold your man down cause you never know where he could end up movie” that turned into a cautionary tale for women. Melinda should have been let him go that resentment destroyed her
@@YouStankGoEatNah, that tracks though. Cause if he had a trash personality AND looked like trash? There’s absolutely no reason for her to entertain him at all!
@@thundacat9378 would he? She was paying for all his parts for the battery, food on the table, bills paid and etc so it's chance he wouldn't either unless he found a well off woman to take care of him
@@St.charles23 From the look of his determination, he wouldn’t have given up on it. He had the ideas and dream, all he needed was the opportunity. On the other hand, she had her career from her degree that would’ve paid what she was making, and she still would’ve had mental issues, no matter who she was with
I liked this movie!! Her anger was mostly justified until certain points; then when he *finally* did the right thing by her, she was completely off the deep end and I could no longer root for her anymore
When did he do right by her? He barely gave her anything compared to what he took and that's not even getting into the emotional damage. He got off easy. She was nice to him if you ask me
@anjelab1429 he gave her back more than she was ever gonna have. What are you talking about. He got her mom house back, and left her with enough to chill, for the rest of her life, shit he probably would've even given more if she asked.
@cymonecarter9704 naw thats what he was SUPPOSE to do. Hes the one that made it hard to keep the house & then flacked on the family job, making the rest of them miss out on money for his own career. hes the one that was mooching off of everyone else while he trial & error at his project for a decade. He don't deserve a pat on the back for fixing things HE ruined
Melinda was manipulated and gaslit this entire film. She was young & naive and fell for a man who was a master manipulator and liar at a young age. From hiding his criminal background to cheating on her after using her to buy him a car he knew exactly what to say and how to say it. Her telling him about the money her mom left was the biggest mistake she made. This man laid on his ass for 20 yrs not working not helping with bills while she worked two jobs and had to mortgage her mom’s home that was paid off to help him. He was never affectionate, he never once asked what she wanted, what was her dreams, he showed no love yet she stood by him all that time. And the moment he hit he was off to the next and yes she asked him for a divorce but he didn’t fight for her. He didn’t try to work it out. He didn’t try to save his marriage he got that check and left because the dream was never for her he never saw her in his future only his present everything he said he dreamed of the condo in the city, the boat, the beautiful ring was never HER dream it was his reason why he gave it all to the next woman. And Diana wasn’t innocent we seen her watching videos of Robert smiling plotting then she randomly dropped her wallet in his truck which she wanted his wife to find. The night Melinda visited Robert Diana was so quick to come to the front and introduce herself knowing Melinda knew who she was from him cheating on her in the past with the same woman. That was her rubbing it in Melinda face and wanting Melinda to see the ring. Just like in the court room announcing her pregnancy and rubbing her stomach while looking at Melinda she again was gaslighting Melinda knowing Melinda couldn’t have kids. Anyone who can’t see what was taking place is crazy.
Exactly! Why introduce yourself to a woman you already know extending your hand with the ring on it. Why announce your pregnancy in the court room then look over at her and rub your pregnant belly? And you knew she was watching your page who post ALL of their wedding plans online? Diana was playing in her face the whole movie and only the wiser could see it. Robert didn’t even try to save the marriage he got his belongings and dipped.
@@kingman523 she even said to him have you ever asked me what I want? And that another thing that drove her over the edge that dream he talked about for 20 yrs it was never meant for her because you gave it all to the next woman word for word. She realized those 20 yrs of standing by him catering to help helping him she was used. Imagine 20 yrs of your life with someone and they tell you the same thing and dream and promises the whole 20 yrs then live out that dream with someone else’s that tells me I was never in that dream you never saw that for me and you
I understand Melinda's pain but gurl $10 milion??? And your hous is paid off??? Take yourself to Paris. Just because hes momentarily doing well does not change the fact that his mindset is trash
@@cymonecarter9704 It wasn't made WAY AFTER the divorce actually. But it doesn't matter when the deal was made. She could have taken him to court and won still as it was no more than a few months. The statute of limitations would have still been good.

I feel like everyone was wrong. Melinda for not getting therapy for her anger sooner, and for not realizing her sense of self...she depended too much on others (her husband, mother, sisters). She never really got to know herself outside of who people told her she was. Her husband for having tunnel vision for himself and ultimately emotionally abandoning his wife. The ex for getting involved with Melinda's husband without having the common sense or decency to make sure his wife was okay with it, and marrying him was tacky because she was creeping with him all those years before. And that nosey sister for overstepping boundaries and not minding her business...it was her being messy that really sent Melinda over the edge, over a misunderstanding.
Melinda's situation was 100% her fault. She was naive, delusional, possessive, abusive, lacked accountability & was too codependent on Robert. Robert was 100% a user & opportunist. Robert was the worst type of user. He's the "well if that's what you wanna do" type of user. He knowly took full advantage of Melinda to supplement things he didn't have or didn't want to work for. Had Robert & Melinda broken up permanently back in college, he would've used Diana the exact same way he used Melinda. When Robert saw Diana again, he did what all opportunist do. Took advantage of the situation. Robert played on Diana's past feelings for him. Diana didn't make Robert whole, heal him or build him up. She gave him, through the company, a large amount money. Which he happily accepted & spent. Sounds familiar? Wonder how long it will take before Diana realizes Robert's true character?
@@misguidedpearls7456you can tell her sisters and mom sheltered her. It’s too late to be giving her sister advice about marriage after y’all have been babying her for her whole life.
This movie made me cry. When he finally got his big break, I cried for all the time and sacrifice that Melinda didn’t fully reap. She really wanted that life that Diana got.
@curtis75black that wasnt rain. Melinda was being straight up waterboarded for decades. The ride or die mentality is toxic and causes unnecessary suffering.
Hear me out, Robert was an horrible spouse! He definitely used her. But that lady was bat sh!t crazy!!! she founf him cheating and almost killed herself trying to get at them?? Ok we'll chalk that up to young and dumb. But then you take him back spend all your money on him he doesn't have to work or do anything for 18 years!! At that point she was just being stupid. She finally gets divorced and still was not happy. Then he got money and instead of not giving her a thought, he gave her way more money thwn she gave him and got her house back. At that point she was set. She should have moved on but she went crazy
Nah, hurting yourself going after someone else is just crazy. Can’t even put that on being young and dumb 😂 and she could have been arrested for that as well. Come on, Melinda 🤦🏾♀️
This is soooo triggering!! Tyler Perry is a manipulative pos. After creating this movie he still has the gull to say ‘ If the man can only afford to pay the light bill then blah blah blah’ TF u mean?!! What he meant in this movie was struggle more until u can only depend on wigs because that is all u will have left after enduring for so long. And if u decide to leave than u deserve to be literally abandoned and left crazy because u didn’t believe long enough. No wonder the bc is in shambles
@@Not_Always but that’s the point fr. Life isn’t always bad guys vs good guy. All of that is illusion. Everyone in our lives have done some messed up stuff including ourselves, we just rationalize the bad parts into good areas. Both were flawed, all were flawed. But that’s life fr.
Hell you would have whole family members telling their side of things and you be on their side because it makes sense right? Lol I'm glad a reactor FINALLY said Melinda lost whatever point she thought she had the moment she didn't just take the money & house and LIVE HER LIFE! She personally lost me when she didn't break up with him after he cheated when they were in college...lol instead SHE'S the reason she can't have kids and was broke for 18 years
@TheHeatInColorPodcast nah. If she wanted to stay, she should've. He apologized verbally AND made her more than whole financially. The principle was DOA the moment she didn't go live her life, lol stop tryna justify crazy (mental illness and being crazy are 2 different things and she didn't wanna work on either one)
Soooo Acrimony was basically Disappearing Acts but without the violence. Confession: I’ve never seen this movie. Of course I’ve heard of it but your hints were very helpful, lol. Shoutout to Melinda’s sister Brenda for having the intuition and discernment that Melinda missed! The only slight difference with this Tyler Perry movie is the light skinned male hero wasn’t much of a hero (referring to the man Melinda met after the divorce). It must be devastating to pour yourself into someone for almost 20 years and that same person gives someone else the life you deserved. Like Zora, Melinda’s judgement was clouded. She couldn’t see for a while that he wasn’t it for her but she couldn’t leave him alone for whatever reason. I hate that her life ended but in a way, that was the only way she could have peace. Such a wonderful review!! I meant to watch it yesterday but I forgot. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
This movie pissed me off bad lol 😭😭 Once Robert got that money and gave Melinda that 10 million it was basically like here you go leave me alone type of energy.. you notice how when Robert got kicked out of the house he didn't have a dime and he was begging Melinda to be with him but once he got the money he didn't beg for her back at all .. he gave her 10 million dollars and went on about his life and married a whole new woman and had the nerve to flaunt it in Melinda's face the same woman he cheated on her with back in the day ..Robert knew what he was doing
@@LMcD-bx4npright what was he fighting plus having her family in her business telling her to leave him. He suppose to come back once he gets a check. He got her the home back, money n more. He walked away. That man was homeless living in a shelter. While she was on a date with the next man
@@LMcD-bx4nphe persevered through 20 years of rejection by Prescott and fought for that deal. He couldn’t do the same for his marriage to Melinda? She should have moved on with the $10 million just for her peace of mind, though.
I always noticed looking back that Robert had this self-satisfied look on his face whenever she was giving him money or paying something for him. Even after she got off of bed rest his look was bordering on a victorious as if he'd won something he wanted. Or maybe that's just his face, I dunno.
That facial expression was so irritating, epecially when she's mortgaging the house and he had the nerve to shake the loan officers hand. Why was he even in the room? lol
Your review was SPOT ON! It’s also crazy how persistent Robert was with trying to do business with Mr. Prescott for 20 years and how he gave up on his relationship with Melinda so quickly and moved on with someone else.
@ The clearest sign that he never really wanted her. He obviously showed that he can be committed and fight for what he wants when it came to that battery, but did the barest of minimum for Melinda just to keep her close (so he can leech off her). Once she put her foot down, he barely put up a fight or tried to show commitment, he just gave up and moved on; and that’s what stung, loving/being committed to someone who didn’t give two 💩s about you. Honestly, where she was emotionally, having endured all that frustration, bitterness, and resentment just to make the relationship work, him showing up with the money probably felt a slap in the face. After everything, when she gave up on the relationship, that’s when he finally did right by her? It’s kinda insulting to have money thrown at you as an apology, especially when majority of the issues were emotional/mental than financial; like it’s saying you can be bought off and your emotional/mental health can simply be fixed with money. (Not everyone’s pain can be fixed with money)
During the marriage, the anger is understood, after nope, she dump him, why she mad, he's still the same person, oh yeah with money, he gave her 10m, why do she want him back?
@@pamweary3101She wanted him back because she felt like she deserved to be with “that” version of him. She held on to those promises and stuck by him for 18 years through and through when he didn’t have anything but a dollar and a dream. I don’t condone her actions after the divorce but I feel like she felt entitled after all she went through with him.
I think what really gets me is how Tyler Perry tries to flip the entire situation back on the woman like he always does. Robert manipulated her and bled her dry for 18 years and would often times do it with a smirk knowing damn well he didn’t truly love her. He barely even liked her, he didn’t even care to call her when they were dating or after they were married, she was never on his mind. All those dreams about the apartment and boat was about him, not her. He used her and then once he was up TP wrote him to be such a thoughtful and easy going man all of a sudden. Selfish people don’t get nicer when they get more money, they only get more selfish, this character arch is unrealistic and intentional for us to blame Melinda in the end. Saying that, I do believe she is responsible for her own actions especially for staying as long as she did, but the real person to blame is Robert.
this!!!!!! tyler perry chose to punish her for not “holding him down” when in reality this type of dude RARELY sees success let alone becomes a millionaire smh
Right, based on his character throughout the movie, no way he would’ve suddenly thought about her once he became rich. This movie is one of the many reasons why I’m convinced Tyler Perry does not like black women.
@@taeheart350 A part of me thinks he only compensated her, financially, cause he was legally obligated too (she invested too much of her time and money on his invention, so he legally owned her). And to avoid going to court and possibly paying her more (like her getting a share due to investment), he thought buying back the house and giving her 10 mil would be enough to shut her up; like, “I paid back what I owe” excuse to wipe his hands clean of any guilt (if he felt any) and/or obligation.
This whole movie was insaine, but Diana was clearly the start of the show. She saw that he was no good and let Melinda have him and then once he was already close to the finish line, she scooped in and took the prize.
I have a theory about the deal Robert received from Prescott. I think Diana managed to convince the board to give Robert a bigger deal. I think the real reason why Prescott originally gave Robert such a low deal is because his battery is 20 year old technology. The company has little to no interest in an outdated invention when there are a plethora of modernly advance batteries available. Robert did not achieve anything with his outdated invention. However, he once again achieved his goal of convincing another woman to financially provide for him. Like most lottery winners, Robert is very quickly burning through his money on luxury items & trips. He still has no income. When that money is gone he's going to start directly leaning on Diana for financial support. Eventually Robert will financially drain Diana if she doesn't wise up to his BS.
Y’all bugging with that theory but I understand y’all like to internalize and paint blk men as wicked and useless but for y’all to not mention the lack of accountability is crazy
@@Rich_Reesesir what? The evidence is there??? Its not about blaming a blk man lmaooo this could represent ANY man. He did not work nor did he want to EVER through those 18 years. He was a scrub. Period 😊
Her anger was justified until after the divorce. He gave her a 10million dollar check plus her house back. Not a lot of ex-husbands do that. He was more then generous and she went to a level that she couldn't comeback from
I don’t like the message this movie is trying to make because it’s like Robert was never wrong but he definitely was. This doesn’t negate how the things Melinda did wrong however he was definitely wrong too.
But Melinda has to take accountability although Robert was wrong. I know it’s hard to hear, but Melinda could’ve avoided those 20 years of hurt and bitterness if she chose herself the first time. After he cheated, she should’ve walked away. And let’s just say she decide to take him back, she could’ve set better boundaries so he had to earn her back. She was given multiple opportunities to set boundaries with Robert but she didn’t. She has to take accountability for that.
Sometimes when you stay in the trenches with men, they grow to resent the fact that you saw them at their weakest. Inevitably, they punish you for that by moving on with someone else who has never seem them in the gutter. Save yourselves ladies!
Chile this women went to far. I wish people stop over extending themselves for others. The truth is no one owes you anything for decisions you choose to do. Irregardless of if we like it or not. That why self love is important. She choose to buy him a car , pay his tuition, mortgage her moms home and work like a slave for him. That’s on her. Once he gave her that money and was feeling guilty she honestly had him in the best place. Chile if that was me I would’ve been calling him every week. I would’ve been asking for everything and he would’ve done it because he felt guilty. She didn’t know how to play her cards. Chile anything he gave his new wife he would’ve been buying two of. Ummm you remember you promised me a jet ? You remember you promised me a trip to Paris ? Chile please I would’ve had him still paying my bills too. But that’s just me
My frustration with Melinda is that she didn’t pour anything into herself. 😢 As you stated in one of the comments, we don’t know her goals, dreams, aspirations, or anything. As soon as she met Robert and lost her mother, he became her world. If she had goals, hobbies, ambitions, and friends, she probably wouldn’t have poured so much of herself into Robert. Or at least she could’ve bounced back with less resentment and bitterness because she has something for herself. It was sad to see.
Man her family failed her and the court. EVRYONE could see she was unhinged, she should’ve been committed in to a mental hospital. She needed real help!
@ No I haven’t but my ex was able to get me committed so it’s possible. With everything that happened, once she walked out of the court ordered therapy she should’ve been committed or locked up
Melinda was doomed in life with or without Robert tbh. I can't really feel sorry for her as she was already worse off on her own before him. If it wasn't for her sisters and her mother's inheritance, she'd be a loss cause entirely.
@@forthenostalgia That can be accurate. I met women like that who gave everything to their relationship, but they had nothing else in their lives because they gave up on everything.
@@forthenostalgia After paying for the car, the battery he created, and his tuition, there was probably nothing left for her to pay for herself to finish school and graduate.
This movie solidified my mindset of not being a ride or die, holding a man down or even loving a man more than I love myself. Melinda's anger was justified, I felt her pain but she put herself in that situation, telling him about the money, the house or even buying him a car. Goes to show men will sell you dreams if you let them and move on with the next woman and give her everything he promised you.
i agree with you 100% Melinda just wanted to be apart of his success or or be credited for it. She spent almost 20 years building him up and sacrificing herself for him and he never gave her any effort in return. Diana being the one who made his dream finally come true definitely pissed her off sending her to that last straw. She wanted to reap the benefits she had worked so hard for all those years and honestly i don’t blame her but again, the man gave you your money back and then some and got back your family house. She definitely should’ve just walked away heartbroken cause she died and that man still got to live his life. Sidenote why does Taraji play women who deal with toxic men for some many years, on empire Cookie went to jail for 17 years for Lucious and then this movie😂

I’m glad you watched this movie so that I wouldn’t have to. I always wanted to know what people were talking about when they wondered how she got on the boat, and now I know. It’s definitely more of the usual from Tyler Perry. I’m so sick of him and these tired tropes - exploited black woman who loses her ability to have children, ain’t shit black man that sucks her dry, and a messy family to boot. He keeps writing different versions of the same story, but I guess he’s not writing for “high brow negroes” like me so it doesn’t matter what I think lol… Anyway, awesome video! This channel is the best!! P.S. ladies don’t be out here building no man. learned from melinda’s mistakes and leave him where he at!
I saw somebody review this movie two years ago and the part where we get back to the therapy session and the therapist is asking Melinda “would you feel better if you found out he really meant well”? Essentially what she was asking was, “What if you found out, he was operating out of the pure intentions? That he wasn’t purposely trying to be awful He just was,if you found out he was truly trying to be a good person but failed at doing so would you be able to let it go?” my personal thoughts is I think Melinda does realize what she did was wrong and she let her bitterness get the better of her because there are some scenes even in the beginning of the movie when the therapist first asked her why don’t we start at the beginning the look she gave Wasn’t a sarcastic or eye, rolling, annoyance kind of look she gave the” look of this could work.” and when she thought more about it, she knew yes it would open up some old wounds, no matter where she started, but she still wasn’t opposed to the idea. In fact she asked “how far back would you like to go?” I while Melinda was retelling the story she did sound as if she had some regret in her choices. She made like the part when she’s laying down after her hysterectomy, and her sisters are telling her she needs to control her anger. She says “I did know that, but I know I can’t control it”. Even when she was sitting waiting for Robert to get home, she says that when she gets this way, it takes her to a place that doesn’t just scare the people around her, but it scares her as well. I think in the beginning when she was retelling the story she could’ve realized maybe there were scenarios where I could’ve handled this better or should just be able to let it go, but once she got to the most recent part, it all went out of the window and she’s back to saying he owes me every breath in his body And the part where the therapist is is talking to her before she leave Melinda is essentially taking the question as “you’re trying to say I don’t have the right to be angry”. Which in actuality us as an audience and essentially the therapist are saying is Melinda completely had the right to be angry and after hearing this entire story, it’s understandable why she’s so angry what the problem is is that she’s letting her anger lead to her detriment.
Honestly they were both bad people that shouldn’t have been together in the first place. She had anger issues and he was in the early part a player and throughout the marriage, a leech.
When Malinda was sitting in that chair she looks and acts exactly like my mom when I used to come in the house after curfew Especially when she said “let me get this straight!” My momma been gone 10 years and I’m still scared of that lady!!!😂😂😂😂
I feel like Melinda anger and bitterness were justified she gave Robert everything her mind, body, and energy to the point where she couldn't see life without him. Melinda lost herself in that marriage and Robert became her center and focus so when the divorce happened to she couldn't function without him, but he knew promised all those things and then gave it to the women he wrong for. Robert aint ish though he is a vampire.
I had many heated conversations about this movie when it came out. Every man thinks he is in the right. No matter how much we explained. They still stood ten toes down on the husband doing nothing wrong. They instead blamed her for being down. We need to STOP being there for them. They blame us for helping them accomplish their dreams and leaving. They blamed her for being used. They blamed her for being manipulated. They blamed her for leaving after he was content with putting her sisters business at risk. They blamed her for giving up on him and therefore the dream life she was promised. Yeah, I abstain now 😂😂😂
I don't think he wanted to be with Melinda at first, but used her because he knew she had money. Over there years he probably grew to love her, but it was too late by then. Melinda was just naive and didn't know when to leave the relationship.
She really did !!! I understood why she would be angry and even being mad at him while they were married but she didn’t take any accountability for the things she’s done or allowed.

9:14 When my siblings and I watched this movie I started to crash out at this particular part. I cursed my siblings out so bad!!! I had to let them know that when our mom passes they will NEVER take out a second mortgage on the house after all the blood sweat and tears was put into getting it paid off. I had to walk away and never finished the movie. I was LIVID😅😅😅
It seems like melinda had always had these tendencies but her family went unchecked. Robert IS responsible for manipulating her and chasing what HE wanted. But melinda was always mentally unwell. Her sisters talked as if they knew what she was capable of.
I don't know why Tyler Perry wrote it in the script like Robert couldn't get a job just because he was a felon it's plenty of felons with jobs Tyler Perry lol 🤣🤣🤣
I just realized ‘s the same girl he cheated on Melinda with & she destroyed her truck & dang near lost her life just because he wanna be a f boy to another female I would’ve left him alone after that
I know Melinda wanted to stick beside him because, I dunno, in love, you're supposedly gonna have rocky roads. But you're also allowed to have conditions. He broke a hell of a lot of them in the *beginning* . At this point it's just being stubborn to stick beside him.
A major factor that people fail to mention when discussing why Melinda went off the deep end the way she did is that, this wasn’t just some random girl. Robert had already previously cheated on Melinda with this same woman… causing Melinda to ultimately become infertile. You then give the ENTIRE identical life that you promised to me, to her. Was she there all along? Were you just using me to get what you wanted and BE with who you actually always wanted?
movie was decent ! but baby 10 million dollars ?! i can take myself to paris, get my own private jet....maybe even get a new man but what would i be worried about THAT man for ? he wasn't a good husband but he sure makes a great ex husband !! thank you for the money wish you a happy life 😘
@@TheNaomiChristinaright I’m like so children are not victims? Women who have been SA or domestically abused are volunteers? Your mother failed you! Such a disgusting comment!
Her anger was justified but towards the end she just lost her mind I understand her being upset in the end because genuinely she wanted him to love her and treat her well yes he repaid her in the end but her living happily ever after with the woman he cheated on her with years ago was definitely crazy I don’t think she needed to try to kill him and her
All that money that her mother left her, Melinda didn't do anything for herself with that money. She could have travel or started a business but no. She blew through that money helping Robert. She bought him a car, paid for his last two semesters and financed his dreams. Not one time, did she do anything for herself with that money. It's hard to see Melinda as the victim. Robert had no drive outside of that damn battery. Robert should have been working. Support the dream until the dream supports you. Robert asking Melinda to mortgage her mama's house should have been her breaking point. And was Prescott the only company in town that he could have pitch his battery to? He didn't have a solid plan. Melinda's friend was annoying. It was like she had rose colored glasses on when it came to Robert. Even though Melinda's sisters got on my nerves, especially her oldest sister Brenda but Brenda saw who Robert was. She told Melinda not to tell Robert about the money that their mother left her. Also in the movie, it was mentioned that Melinda took after her father when she crashed out over Robert cheating on her with Diana, so her behavior could have been because of an undiagnosed mental disorder since childhood. Fun fact: Tika Sumpter was originally cast as Diana but pulled out of the film.
@@DGsKattKatt Im only getting my information from Nostalgia: getting shot and an axe to the leg with all ship crew gone? You better be dead or you're just not human. But maybe in the movie he actually survives? Why mess up such a compelling movie with such a ridiculous ending😭
That judge mentioning BPD ticked me off. Melinda didn't exhibit BPD but was a woman who was fed up after nearly two decades of being used and losing at life because of someone else and her choice of that person. She broke. Why am I not surprised that Tyler Perry doesn't know what BPD is and punished the wronged party?
I feel like the question the therapist asks & the she answers, says a lot about the movie! "Would it make you feel better if he was being honest & he meant well?" Because Robert isn't like...a huge evil. He isnt the big bad abusive that we see in movies like "Diary of a Mad Black Woman" but he is manipulative. Instead of Melinda internalizing that question, since she seemingly got everything she wanted & more PLUS getting away from his sorry ass, she takes as an accusation that she isnt entitled to that anger. She is very much entitled, but her letting it consume her is the issue. She isn't a mad black woman, she's a woman who is angry. So righteous is this anger,by the way, that she would burn a house down with her in it just to take her enemies down. Self sacrificing. All consuming. It isn't healthy. There are tiny hints that she quite possibly might have BPD or some other type of personality disorder, since her father was the same. Plus the thing with water. Idk I liked the movie. B+ bc it's Tyler Perry tho lol
Robert is Tyler from Love Is Blind, minus the babies and Of course Melinda is Ashley lmao.. it giving nostalgia lol 😅 .. great review, I enjoyed knockin' da boots snippet 😂😂

Leave it to Tyler Perry to have a black woman behaving in such a fashion. She will either be : bitter, angry, poor , emotionally unstable, seeking struggle love or ALL of the above. 🤨
Shows you shouldn't let other people dictate things in your relationship. Don't listen to any and everybody (even and sometimes especially family) and don't let too many folks know your business!
@malikwilson7387 Her sisters were 100% right. She called them out because she was upset. Let's remember most of her actions in this movie were BEYOND questionable. They were kind enough to give him a job and he caused them a client and messed up their reputation by not making the delivery and putting his needs before there company's.
He used her up to the point where she snapped. How disrespectful and vile that you promised all of those dreams and hopes to her and gave it to the next woman that was ready to take your spot.
She wasn't wrong for leaving, she was wrong trying to come back thinking he owed her something, even after he gave ger 10 mil.. He was wrong for using her, that was dirty.....you gave a great voice, do nobody's fool next, subscribed
This movie was amazing, but Melinda did too much when she caught him the first time cheating, she ruined her chances having kids by doing outrageous things and he kind of did too much giving his second wife everything he promised the first wife, it looked like he did it on purpose to hurt her because she left him.
What triggered her was him being with the same woman that was also part of the reason for her not being able to have kids which i think is what everyone is missing. The second she saw he was with his ex that was currently pregant, man that 10 million ain't mean shit no more.
I don’t think this movie was about them. I think this movie was about anger and how some people deal with anger. How anger can consume to a point of no return. As we go through the film, each of the words are the different ways anger manifests itself. I know TP probably didn’t dive this deep but I looked at it from a different perspective.

That’s a good guy

I pray no one ever finds themselves in a marriage like that. He made me real life mad. He was a vampire. She made sooo many unwise decisions and lost her mind at the end. To some degree, I feel for her. This movie was so upsetting. 😭
The only way someone finds themselves in a situation like this is if their self esteem is non existent and they have no damn sense!

@moniquewrites9046 huh?
Melinda's situation was 100% her fault. She was naive, delusional, possessive, abusive, lacked accountability & was too codependent on Robert.
Robert was 100% a user & opportunist. Robert was the worst type of user. He's the "well if that's what you wanna do" type of user.
@@Kdogg1030Exactly! He got LUCKY!

@spybubbble That was explained in the movie, they never slept together.
@@Aaron_GuestAre you stupid or something?
Baby clock the tea! He’s a soul sucking vampire. Once the money runs out he’ll be back to begging and washing dishes

I don’t like the message this movie is trying to make because it’s like Robert was never wrong but he definitely was. This doesn’t negate how the things Melinda did wrong however he was definitely wrong too.
It's a lesson for us women.
Don't overextend urself for a man who wouldn't do the same for you...
@ I don’t disagree with that point.
Lesson: Don’t ever choose a man over yourself.
Man her family failed her and the court. EVRYONE could see she was unhinged, she should’ve been committed in to a mental hospital. She needed real help!
Have you ever tried having an adult committed to a hospital? It’s virtually impossible.

Melinda was doomed in life with or without Robert tbh. I can't really feel sorry for her as she was already worse off on her own before him. If it wasn't for her sisters and her mother's inheritance, she'd be a loss cause entirely.

Anyway, awesome video!
That he wasn’t purposely trying to be awful He just was,if you found out he was truly trying to be a good person but failed at doing so would you be able to let it go?”
my personal thoughts is I think Melinda does realize what she did was wrong and she let her bitterness get the better of her because there are some scenes even in the beginning of the movie when the therapist first asked her why don’t we start at the beginning the look she gave Wasn’t a sarcastic or eye, rolling, annoyance kind of look she gave the” look of this could work.” and when she thought more about it, she knew yes it would open up some old wounds, no matter where she started, but she still wasn’t opposed to the idea. I think in the beginning when she was retelling the story she could’ve realized maybe there were scenarios where I could’ve handled this better or should just be able to let it go, but once she got to the most recent part, it all went out of the window and she’s back to saying he owes me every breath in his body
And the part where the therapist is is talking to her before she leave Melinda is essentially taking the question as “you’re trying to say I don’t have the right to be angry”.
When Malinda was sitting in that chair she looks and acts exactly like my mom when I used to come in the house after curfew Especially when she said “let me get this straight!” My momma been gone 10 years and I’m still scared of that lady!!!😂😂😂😂

also the younger to older casting especially for the sisters was really good! one of his better movies for sure
You sound like a clown.
Yeah, I abstain now 😂😂😂
This movie made me so angry watching it with my grandmother as a teen 😭
I don't think he wanted to be with Melinda at first, but used her because he knew she had money. Over there years he probably grew to love her, but it was too late by then. Melinda was just naive and didn't know when to leave the relationship.
I can't wait to see your review for this because this movie is good but she definitely did do it to herself😂😂

It wasn’t about the money for Melinda. Her anger was about the years she wasted and for him to end up with the same girl he cheated with.

I understand her anger, but I would have taken my 10 million and had a good life. I wouldn't want him back at all.
She gave her time , resources , energy etc
A major factor that people fail to mention when discussing why Melinda went off the deep end the way she did is that, this wasn’t just some random girl. Robert had already previously cheated on Melinda with this same woman… causing Melinda to ultimately become infertile. You then give the ENTIRE identical life that you promised to me, to her. Was she there all along? Were you just using me to get what you wanted and BE with who you actually always wanted?
Moral of the story: Never be a mule for a man. They will find an “upgrade” regardless of how much support you give on the way up.
