- In "Rock This Period!", the newest music video from AMAZE, a pad falls out of Hannah’s pocket, and the bullies come for her. Jojo tries to defend her friend with an earnest, “periods are cool!” but, uhh, it doesn’t land. What exactly happens when someone gets their period? Why do periods even exist? And how do they affect the body? Sounds like questions only an AMAZE Music Video can answer
Periods might seem like a hassle, but they’re a completely normal part of life for many people. In fact, menstruation plays an important role in the body's reproductive system and overall health. In this fun, musical journey, we break down the facts about menstruation and explain why periods are nothing to be embarrassed about. Whether it's cramps, mood swings, or surprise leaks, everyone who menstruates experiences it differently-but one thing is for sure: you are not alone!
Lyrics:
Hana:
Uh-oh, look out below
Cause my skirt's gonna bleed!
Can't show the growing stains
As I run into the bathroom.
I know, I know, I got a heavy flow,
But this curse from Mama Earth don't pay!
I'll be on the rag
For seven days.
Life without menstruation
Would be so much better.
No more aggravation
'Cause your gym shorts just got wetter.
Even if you barely had boobs before,
Get ready to be sweaty and sore,
With cramps to boot,
Cuz it ain't cute,
What's in store!
Jojo: But Hana! Getting your period is nothing to be embarrassed about!
Wuh oh, I hear ya girl,
PMS is no joke.
No, no-body wants
All the bloating and the mood swings. (BLEH!)
Your glow may show,
You've met your Great Aunt Flo,
But it's a normal thing that all girls get!
...But it's a normal thing that all people with uteruses get!
…But it's a normal thing that all child-bearing-capable individuals get!
You're not alone,
And you can bet!
Life without menstruation
Wouldn't just be all leisure.
No more regulation
Of your bone mass and blood pressure.
Even though shedding that lining's a pain,
And all your panties have stains,
The crimson tide's a sign of pride,
So flush that shame right down the drain!
Hana:
I never know when she'll strike!
I barely am able to sleep at night!
Is this my fate for the rest of my life?
Jojo:
The end's a long ways down the road,
But once a month that scarlet flow
Is how you’ll know
That you've avoided
Impregnation!
Hana: Wait. You mean like a baby?
Jojo: Mhm.
Hana: A BABY????
Jojo & Hana: That's why we need menstruation!!!
It's normal to menstruate
And life could be better,
But we all go through it,
Go through it together!
So pop that tampon in or add
A latex menstrual cup or pad
Grab a snack and relax,
Go with the flow,
It's how you know
You've subverted procreation
With the proper education
It will give you liberation
So let's celebrate
Menstruation!!!
Hana: You know, some people have endometriosis, or PCOS, or like-
Jojo: I know but that's a whole other song.

How do they know I am on my periods
Maybe the algorithm syncs with your cycle, who knows. Technology is creepy.
@@amazeorg agreed.

Do periods hurt? I’m not a girl but I’m just curious?
Okay yes for learning about the experiences of other people!! The feeling of having periods varies a lot from person to person. Many people have stomach cramps as if they’ve been doing lots of running, or an uncomfortable queasy feeling in the stomach. But there are also people who have strong pain that prevents them from going about their usual day, especially if they have a condition like endometriosis or pcos. Each person’s experience is a unique result of the combination of their symptoms. Thanks for continuing to learn and support each other!

Edit no.2 10th of febuary 2025: stil no period lets just wait
The interesting thing is, it’s really natural for the cycle not to strictly follow the same pattern each month. You’re a natural being, not a robot : ) It especially tends to have more variety during the first several years of a person’s period. If you have questions about health or pregnancy, make sure to reach out to an adult you can trust. Here’s a helpful article with more details about cycle variation: helloclue.com/articles/cycle-a-z/what's-normal-menstrual-cycle-length-and-variation
Perfect timing I’m on my period and it came just in time! 🕰️ ❤
We got you girlie 💜
