I feel that a "Lens selection/System overview" segment is missing. You kind of covered it in the Final Rankings, but I feel like talking about the system as a whole should be more imporant than a sidenote in the final summary.
Agree. It's hard to talk about "the best camera", without mentioning the lens system it's going to be paired with. Of course they took it into account in the final moments, but they should have stated it more clearly early on.
As some one who's tossing up full frame or APS-C mirrorless (from an antique Canon 350D plus lenses) it'd be useful to know a little about the lenses. Perhaps a follow up to allow 1st and 2nd to duke it out with the lenses included?
Came here to comment the exact same thing. I think the cameras are all fine and I personally like the Fujifilm system but the lens variety on the other systems are miles ahead (if it's not about manually operated primes at least).
I feel like more discussion should be had around the size of these cameras. The XT4 is the size of a full frame camera… the biggest perk of the A6600 is it’s size! Hard to beat as a travel camera
I have an a7r IV. Just a hobbyist, so I decided to put it up for sale. Wanted to go back to APS-C. Wasn't sure if I wanted to go a6600, or Fuji X-T4. Found both for similar price right now. Heart told me to go with Fuji, but I went with the Sony. Wanted to go back to APS-C for the small, compact size and weight, and the a6600 does that for me. The Fuji, per specs on B&H, is the same size, even slightly larger in width, than the full frame a7r IV. Also weighs about the same, too. Wanted the Fuji, really did. Just wish the T4 was smaller (but still weatherproof, IBIS). Didn't care for the x-s10
Kinda felt like the XS-10 deserved being included in this video's lineup just because it would be more within the price range and feature set of the other 3 cameras but great video as always guys!
I think the reason they used the X-T4 since they are comparing the best APS-C cameras from each manufacturer so the X-S10 wouldnt make the cut even if it does match closer in price point to the others
Thanks for this very helpful review. As a Sony APSC person, first the A6000 and now owner of the A6600, this has been my go to camera for great shots when I travel internationally. I love the small lens sizes for travel, and how little I have to pay for lenses that are small and compact, since there are so many third-party options in the sony Emount system. I don't know if Fuji's XT4 allows for so many third party options. I cannot argue with the conclusion that the Fuji XT4 is the best camera. However, the feel of the Fuji is bulky in my hands and heavy. I love the slender, low profile of the Sony camera and find that it is incredibly light and comfortable to hold after hours of shooting and walking. The big downfall of the Sony camera is it's very poor ibis compared to other cameras. We are moving toward cameras becoming very steady, but Sony lags considerably behind others in this area. Ultimately, I may end up going with the fuji system, but not for the foreseeable future.
@@joey_bonzo neither did Nikon believe Fuji stand a chance agsint them. Actually Fuji started off with Nikon manufacturing Finepix series for them... Now Fuji is selling more mirrorless than Nikon ❨well Nikon was just entering the niche market of mirrorless lately❩
@@wilsonpalmpre The X-T4 hasn't been a huge breadwinner for Fuji through the pandemic though. It's actually the X-S10 raking in the cash for them. (And before that, the X-T30, now taken a nose-dive because of the X-S10) Not surprising really considering price sensitivity being up.
@@Vinterloft I think Fuji is not focusing on making money out of bodies. They are eager to sell more lens. I guess Fuji is deeply worried that APS-C market is on the decline.
The Nikon Z50 is a great little companion to a full frame Z system. For example, instead of buying a 35mm prime lens, for the same money I bought the Z50 to put my 20mm lens on. ..and with the little kit lens I have a great travel camera as well as a back up body.
@@B3D_FPV Not so much with high resolution cameras, starting with Canon's 5Ds cameras. I can crop 50 megapixels down to a similar number of pixels of the 70D, D500 etc to get the same results.
@@oneeyedphotographer Yeah, but with like 5fps. D850 9fps with grip. Up till this point with stacked sensors like the A1 & Z9, high res & fps was not really possible. So smaller formats had a distinct advantage. It is the single reason for which I use a M43 cam sometimes. It has higher pixel density than any sensor other than medium format right now.
@GhostShelter Canon, Sony, and Nikon all have full frame cameras that sit very close to their APSC. Fuji on the other hand only has APCS and medium format, which is sits far above apsc. The result is Canon, Sony, Nikon APSC cameras all got neutered in some way so that they don't eat into the FF market. Whereas Fuji can afford to give you the best of the best (of APSC) without eating their medium format line.
@@zzMigMitzz Full frame is still better. It has sharper fine detail and more definition in dark tones that overall gives images a depth and vivid appearance, that can't be reached by smaller formats. I watched probably all full frame to aps-c comparisons available. Sure, some aps-c cameras come pretty close. With some post-work they sure produce exquisite images, too. But for that wow-effect more sensor is what does it.
In a marketing sense that was a brilliant idea because beginner photographers have their mind all set up on buying APS-C, so that's how Fuji got at the top of the overall camera market shares. But on a rational level this decision makes no sense at all. You can get almost any entry to mid-level full frame camera for the same price as the X-T4. Just like Peter Kroll said before me, the FF will always have the upper hand in IQ, and most of the entry to mid-level FF cameras have (at least) an edge over any APS-C, even X series, in every category. Dropping that much money on a crop sensor makes no sense at all, no matter how good the brand APS-C lenses are.
@@Guizmopeg When did Fuji get to the top of the camera market share? The last marker share analysis has it at like 5% of the total market share, with even Nikon doing better in 2021. Overall Canon is still dominating even with it's completely anemic mirrorless ILC output with around 50% market share, Sony is second and probably the top selling mirrorless manufacturer, and Nikon is still at 15% market share even while plummeting catastrophically for a few years now.
I've never found the Fuji XTs to be comfortable to hold. They have a really shallow grip, and my pinkie always found a really sharp edge to rest on. That said, I love their dials for most situations.
Same here. I have the X-T3 and it always has either a battery grip or a Smallrig L-bracket on just for the reason of adding extra to hold onto. I love using the camera but without the extra perch, holding it for long periods, especially with bigger glass, to be pretty uncomfortable. Waiting for an X-H2 for that reason. Hopefully it's good.
The vertical grip should be considered mandatory for all top-end Fujifilm cameras. With one it's the most comfortable camera ever IMO. And it has the headphone jack anyway.
I'm definitely enjoying my a6600. Recent purchase as a b-cam to my A7iii since it has no video record limit and it has been doing a great job for me. Eventually I'll get up to an FX3 or A7Siii, but for now these are good.
Those looking to hop into Fuji on a budget I got a used xt3 for $700 and an xs10 can be had for $1000 new. The build quality on their lenses also makes it easy to score pristine quality gear for cheap on eBay.
I say this as someone who ended up going with the A6600, but the XT-4 truly is an incredible camera. My specific use case prioritized size and battery life. I was already coming from the A6300, I’d have to replace my lenses (and in any case, the A6600 was cheaper than the XT-4). And I guess I had already committed to the A7RIV for a full frame, which plays really well with APS-C lenses. But if I was only ever going to get an APS-C camera, and could start over, Fuji. I’d love to eventually see a professional grade Sony APS-C, like a hypothetical A7IV body with an APS-C sensor. But until then, the XT-4 is seriously great.
The Fujifilms XT-4 and Nikons Z50 are just, simply, 'no brainer' choices. I have a quick, little story to tell about the Z50 specifically; I was shooting WRC with a friend who got us the pass to go with a group of FIA photographers couple months ago in Croatia. My friend and I went with one of them through the forest, to the highest point, sharp corner spot and the guy dropped his D6 2 hours in and couldn't walk back to the car because the stage/race was starting in less than 1 hour, so he borrowed my friends brand new Z50, that he just bought two days earlier... And man... Let me tell you... The pictures he took with that $800 camera almost made me want to sell my XT-4 and all my camera gear, quit photography for good and then question all my life choices. That guy made us realize how good the Z50 is, because an $800 camera isn't supposed to produce better images than my XT-4 that is a pro camera at double the price...
The fuji and Nikon APSC cameras are "Sonys in Disguise" in the sense that they use Sony sensors. The most significant differentiators are price - and more importantly - lens selection as otherwise you are gonna get pretty much the exact same picture quality. The Sony and the Fuji have a much better selection of 1st and 3rd party lens options for their mount systems. The Nikon is pretty terrible by comparison - virtually none of the big lens manufacturers have bothered to support the Z mount, with barely a handful manual lenses from "low end" Chinese brands being available. This is a major dealbreaker. For the APSC format, across all manufacturers, there are major gaps in all 1st party lens options that are filled by 3rd party lens - Sigma in particular does a great job for completing the prime lens lineup.
@@JimIBobIJones Your first paragraph is false - it’s a common misconception, it’s actually not a Sony sensor - it’s only manufactured by Sony, the design and engineering of the sensor is done by the companies who have production(manufacturing) contracts with Sony, aka. Nikon, Panasonic, Fuji, DJI and others… Sony only gets the patented blueprints under a strict contract and manufactures their sensors for them at a cheaper cost. Most camera manufacturers have a contract with Sony because Sony has the biggest factory (production) chains out of any other manufacturer in the business, as well as the largest amount of CNC machines for the job - all meaning faster and larger production at a lower cost. And it’s not just camera manufacturers who do this, everyone does this - for example, one of the newer diesel engines in the newer Mercedes A and E class, was manufactured by Renault and VW. Same with BMW, Peugeot, entire VW group and others. Another example; Apples “Made in California” products actually manufacture over 60% of their parts and hardware in Taiwans, Chinas and Thailands factories. Then, another example, Nvidia and AMD both use the exact same factory in China for production of some of their GPU parts. So on and so forth… You can do the same. You can engineer and design an entire house and then have someone else build it for you - and you can do that with anything, the house was just an example. Outsourcing is way more common than you think and allows businesses/manufacturers to drastically lower their production costs.
@@nogerboher5266 it's not like fuji have a proprietary technology though. It's not a case of "pure play" production as you are suggesting but own branding.
small note on the Nikon Z50 : you can generally find the Z50 in a package in where you get the FTZ adapter for basically nothing (like less than 100 USD instead of 300), opening the door for all the F mount glass, especially all the AF-S APSC lenses that are cheap and quite frankly very good, not mentionning all the film era stuff. I guess this would have gained to be mentionned since this is an option that Nikon can offer to a lot of people
Yeah, lenses > cameras and especially for size-doesn't-matter pro glass, adapting might be a good way to sweat the sunk cost. Combines great with smaller native glass, to pack two bags for light and portable vs. heavy but high quality. Hope they find a way (and the will) to make more compact APS-C lenses somehow with that ridiculously huge (for APS-C) mount, though Nikon has a terrible track record at producing native APS-C glass.

As this type of camera, for newbee like me, no EVF it acceptable(plus function--can keep eye health-_-), but no flash means unacceptable. Many newbee don't have extra flash. Plus, today I order a lot of subs. list: 1. Screen Cover-- JJC, for protecting. 28 RMB 2. Tripod 1--Ulanzi twitchable tripod(function like JOBY, but use rubber, and much cheaper). 50 RMB 3. Tripod 2--Ulanzi metal tripod with Arca pan, and a RGB light set, 250 RMB 4. Camera bag--National Geographic NG W2250, 447RMB a kind of expensive, but Manfrotto's SD-10 bag size too big(for ipad support), and Lowepro's NOVA serise too fat and can't fill an Ipad. I got Nikon Z50 with Nikkor 16-50mm and Nikkor 50-250mm. For me, as enthusiast photographer (I dont earn money from photography, it is a hobby and not a real job). For me this camera is all I need for the moment. I found it with a discount, was aprox 820 USD with the Nikkor 16-50mm. I like it a lot, I think it is a very good value for money. Yes, I could find something better, but more expensive. I didn't want to pay extra for few better things, for now it satisfies my needs. Very light camera, event with the Nikkor 50-250 lens, perfect for traveling. Yes, it has no IBIS, but if you concentrate a little, you can get great shot in low light. I mean I have shots of waterfalls with the shutter speed at 1/5s handheld and it is perfect, it is a quite long exposure shot. The stabilization of the 16-50 lens is very good. In the end everybody has to chose what needs and I'm happy with my Z50.
I switched to the XT4 from Canon 6D mark II. The 6D mark II was extremely great with the sigma 85mm f1.4 art but I've never regret with my choice. When I combined the XT4 with the 50mm f1.0, the image quality was amazing for portrait.
As a Z50 user (previous owner of Sony A6500 & A7R2, Fuji xt10 & XT3, and multiple Lumix cameras), there are a few categories that you missed: 1) overall weight/compactness which fantastic for the Z50; 2) lens selection if you are welling to adapt Nikon F or Canon EF; 3) ease of use (menus, camera app, etc) and again I think the Z50 better than the Sony and Fuji in this regard - - dare I say nearly as good as Lumix cameras. I bought an adapter for EF/EFS lenses that fully supports auto focus for less that $60, and the lens selection is fantastic. Give the price, specs, ease of use, and my needs (excellent images, very reasonable 4K, super lightweight, good lens selection). For more professional work, I use a FF Lumix camera. However, for travel, street photography, light video work, the Z50 is fantastic.
@@robmcd That's absolutely fine. You probably prefer the APS-C format. I personally need full frame, cause i shoot sports in badly lit gyms and i need better high iso performance. The only thing I would disagree on is the lens support section. I really think that Sony should have gotten first place in that. Some of their native APS-C lenses are, well, less than desireable (like the kit 16-50 PZ lens) but they do have a lot of third party support (both "official" -- Tamron, Sigma -- and unofficial -- with obscure companies like Meike, Viltrox and Yongnuo for example) and I think that's a huge asset to Sony. So I'd rank them as (1) Sony, (2) Canon EOS M (mainly because they have some native third-party support), (3) Fuji (they have some now, but historically it wasn't much until the past 6-12 months when Tamron started making lenses for Fuji cameras), and lastly (4) Nikon (as Nikon has not opened up the mount to third party officially yet, and most AF lenses are likely reverse engineered to get them to work on the Z system).
The reason why I prefer Fuji over the other manufacturers when it comes to APS-C are the lenses. The kit lens of X-E0, X-T00, X-T0, X-H1, X-S00 and the X-pro are superb with the standard kit-lens has an aperture range of f/2.8-4, while also gave a choice of purchasing them with either 16-80mm f/4 for the X-T and X-S models or the 23mm for the X-E and X-Pro line I also do think that the comparison is unfair considering the fact that the X-T4 is literally a professional camera with a price-point of a 35mm sensor camera. The X-S10 IMO would be a better comparison for this video. The only camera currently on-par with the X-T4 is the Nikon D500 which is a DSLR.
Jordan, Chris: in a future video, can you guys also talk about Nikon’s JPG color profile editors? I think it’s an interesting feature no one talks about, you can literally create your own profiles and load them into your camera. Neat! There’s even film simulation profiles out there.
I actually watched this video when making the decision on what camera to buy a month back. Thanks for making this review! One month in and I will say the XT4 is a beast. I came from using a Canon Rebel T3i so the technology 10 years updated is quite the jump haha. The small form factor + power of the XT4 is unmatched. Go get it if you're on the fence. I liked the video and subscribed to your channel!
A long time ago, i used a Canon EOS 7D. Back then, it was the best APS-C camera that money could buy. It had excellent AF, crazy fast 8fps (still today quite usable!), a large Buffer, wrote to a lightning fast CF-card, had rugged buildquality, weather sealing and great battery life - and even was a capable Full HD video camera, if manual focus was acceptable. I filmed our son with sigmas 18-35 F1.8, a great lens. But i especially liked the EF-S 15-85 3,5-5,6 IS USM. This lens was compact, had IS, fast AF and a zoom range i still miss today as a 5D4 shooter. Today i see the successor to this camera to be the Fuji X-T4: Best in it's class, with good glass options, rugged design and battery life, good video options etc. I use and really like my 5D4, but it does not always has to be fullframe. If i bought into a new system today, i would certainly choose Fuji's X-system.
I’m going with the m6 Mark II. After some time with the Sony a7 I still kook back at pictures of my old Canon 70D and I just like their look a lot more. Decided to go smaller for travel and the m6 Mark II plus the 11-22 and 32 1.4 is all I need
@@jazzamsterdam5317 Who cares about the prices. We are talking about "best in the format". If you go up in format you need a Sony 7 mk3 to compete with the Xt4, and that's going to be more expensive (plus lenses).
There were certain details left out in this comparison such as built in flash in Nikon z50 and canon m6ii which is missing in xt4 and a6600. Animal eye focus is present in Nikon and Sony which is missing in fujifilm and canon efm lineup. Native adapters in canon and Nikon to use dslr lenses which is not available to Sony and fujifilm. Dual card slot of fujifilm xt4 vs single card slot in the rest. I think comparison was not fair to Nikon z50 given editing and loading jpg picture profile is far easier and flexible in Nikon than fujifilm, Sony or canon.
Nikon has only TWO apsc lenses. Z full frame lenses are great, so why not buy the Z5 instead? I don't know about the pricing in your country but here the prices here is roughly NT$23800 vs NT$30000. The Z5 also has IBIS and focus bracketing and uses EN-EL15. If there were no Z5, the Z50 might be worth a look.
@@shang-hsienyang1284 Nikon Z5 is a professional class camera. No built in flash, has dual card slot, better video codecs, etc. I feel to compare Z50 to a6600 and xt4 is not fair. Sony has three current adapters to use their A-mount DSLR lenses. Two of those adapters will even support "screwdriver" auto-focus era lenses, which neither Canon nor Nikon fully support (you can use the lens and will have auto-exposure, but no auto-focus). To that extent, they have "better" adapters than Canon or Nikon, but that is only "on paper". I would like to see comparisons of auto-focus performance.

I can't believe they gave the lowest ranking for image quality for the Z50, just because the sensor is 20MP? It has the best Dynamic range out of all of them, Has high ISO as well since it is a BSI CMOS sensor, and can take 11FPS, much better than the others. And of course the most pleasing RAW files are from Nikon because they have great colors. Just for lack of IBIS, that does not justify a 4th place. I dumped my FUJI X-T20 for the Z50 even though the sensor gave 24MP because I didn't find a huge difference between 20 and 24MP.
++ I dont belive what I've heard. Canon m6 mii matrix is worse than z50! ISO perfomance is about 1-1.5 stops lower, 32 MPx is too large files. Its not a plus!
Team Nikon Z50 here. Despite it coming in last place I really love the camera. If it had internal LOG and an articulating screen I think it would have landed 2 place over the Sony. As for the lens selection... well yeah there's only a couple native lenses but the ftz adaptor allows you to use a ton of f mount glass with great results so it's not a super relevant point. For me though, the Z50 is my backup/B cam for my Nikon Z6ii so I can use all the ff Z glass on it UNLIKE Canon M to Canon R.
Fuji-X gives me what the other guys refuse to - a complete line of wonderful APS-C lenses with multiple options to choose from. Nikon, Canon, and Sony all view APS-C as an entry-level gateway to their full-frame offerings instead of offering a complete system.
I do think Sony takes APS C more seriously than that and there are lots of third party lens options for Sony. Plus, Fuji is more money in some cases. Sony's 18-135 is about $300 cheaper than Fuji's. That said, I hate my Sony a6400.
Z50 has 120fps 1080p, no crop in 4K and although not perfect.. a front facing screen. It's more of a videocentric camera. also it's 500 to 600 euro cheaper with the kit lens (where I live) which is not a small amount of money for most people
@@danieldougan269 If Sony ever made an XT4 clone with their AF tech, I'm switching. Fuji's features were just too good to ignore, especially for paid jobs. However in terms of lenses... Fuji loses when it comes to price. The new tammy zooms and Sigma f/1.4 trio make the Fuji lenses less appealing.
Great comparison review. I think Sony really need to update their line of APS-C cameras with a revised body design, faster readout sensor, and 10bit video capture capability. Then again is Sony trying to determine whether it is still worth investing in the APS-C format? I'm happy shooting with the format so I hope it stays around.
Yeah, I don't see a newer small-body APC-C than the a6600, which came out in August 2019, and today is November 26, 2001. I have the same question. (And I don't count the ZV-E10 - it's for vloggers, which is great, but it's not an improvement to the a6600. Maybe they'll show an a6700 at CES in a month or two (although I don't know if Sony ever introduces new cameras at CES.) Let's hope so!
Fully behind the conclusion here. I've owned the Fuji XT30 a little over a year now and it's such a wonderful piece of kit to shoot with. I've been drooling over the XT4 since it came out. Fuji simply masters the blend of analog controls and digital shooting. Very hands on, tactile, fun ànd some amazing JPGs and video right out of the camera.
As an owner of and a6600, an XT3, and an XT4, I'd put the XT3 just below the a6600. This is for two reasons, the lack of Ibis and the weaker battery life.
I've owned the X-T1, X-T2, X-T3 and now the X-T4 and agree. Capture One is the best. Why Adobe doesn't play nice is a mystery. One of us, one us, one of us!!!
Canon and Sony definitely need a camera body refresh in their aps-c lineups. Though with Canon there are frequent rumors about RF aps-c so who knows what they will do next. I use EF-M for video with the M50 a lot but the M6 mark ii hasn't interested me enough to buy one (removing the 30 minute per video clip limiter would be a good start...). Guys, great job on the round-up!
I feel like Fuji really listens to photographers. Every iteration, they make improvements, and I feel like they make cameras for photographers, not just for money.
@Alf Maggadan R&D and major body mods cost money. And I agree, which is why I got the Z50. It was 1099 with two lenses. Light kit for travel, capable, and they leaked two little primes. But yes, Fuji is listening, which is why they have a loyal following.
The XT-4 costs almost twice as much as the Canon M6ii or the Nikon Z50. For entry level, that should be a factor too. Especially if you think how much Fuji asks for it's lenses.
Aaah, again my favorite, and the one which we use to our best satisfaction, scores _last_ in the eyes of the Gods of RUclips. We love the Nikon Z50. The lenses are fantastic, and sharp so that the results of 50-200 throughout compare to the once $3000 expensive 70-200 f/2.8. Sensor is simply superb. The testers forgot also to mention how fast the Z50 is: 11 frames/sec, that was mere few years ago was only doable with top bodies. The weight and size of the Z50 and 16-50 makes it a perfect "purse size camera." Canon EOS-M has the problem that the lenses will never be interchangeable between RF and EOS-M. So I do not think that this is a recommendable system by any standard, if you also use RF, as I do. One thing I agree upon: Z50 has AF issue in low light. The 50-200 on long end is already f/6.3 and the camera fails to autofocus at dusk. Ok, so we have one field in which we could improve something in a future body. I also would like to mention: We love the z-mount. With its symmetric 4 flanges makes a short throw and the lens change is way simpler than in the asymmetric Canon RF. We also both with my wife prefer the tilt LCD screen over the fully articulated, but that is truly a matter of preference.
Only 2 APS-C Z lenses is a much bigger Problem, dann missing interchangeability between RF EOS-M. Eos M is also a limited system, but offers many more lenses than nikon.
ThomasH - Do the Z lenses have VR or does Nikon assume people will eventually step up to an IBIS body? I'm a Nikon user for 50 years now and just discovered I have to buy something lightweight, but I do need some kind of vibration reduction.
I actually prefer the X-S10 over the X-T4 because of the much better grip and the smaller and lighter body.. it has all the features of the X-T4 that I need and the battery life is good enough for my use.
This was a great comparison - I considered all of these cameras in my own purchasing decision. I ended up going for the XS-10; the little brother of the XT-4.
Ignoring the price factor is a major disadvantage for the NIKON. In India, u can get the Z50 way cheaper than the Sony and Fujifilm but more or less similar to the Canon. I own a Z50 and it suits for the type of photography i do.
Having owned the A6600 and Z50 .. still own the Z50 the IQ from the Nikon is significantly better. IBIS? That’s the knock? I call BS. AF? Yes, Sony wins but the images from my Z50 are night and day better than the Sony with ‘kit’ lenses. The Z50 meters better than my X100V and often produces a cleaner image…definitely more accurate.
Not that surprising that a camera costing almost twice as much as the cheapest in the lineup is better. I do agree that the Z50 seems to be an orphan without a future, possibly made to be a modernized version of the Nikon 1 V3 in size and features, which it manages, barely. The Z50 has a built-in EVF, while the V3 has a detachable, and the V3 has a fraction fewer pixels in the sensor. The last mirrorless the N1 line was the J5 (that has a 20Mp sensor like the Z50). A retro-style APS-C with IBIS should have be running to empty my bank account, but the chances for such a model appearing is very, very, slim.
Surprising criticism on small Nikon system in the end as DX Z is directly compatible with FX Z & also F mount lens system, more importantly new DX Z body & may be new DX &/or compact affordable FX lenses are already coming this or next month & also 3rd party AF DX lenses by Viltrox have been already announced & coming out next month. This is actually a major expansion point for DX Z. The real question on future & existential crisis should be on EOS M system because canon's future development interest has clearly shifted in RF APS-C now.
0:11 "You got holes in you, and I stick with you" - why I love these two and stick with them for so many years no matter where they are! Regards from Seattle!
I know budget wasn’t a factor in this video test but I do wonder how Fuji’s XS-10 would have compared in this video. Probably still 1st place? 🥇 Many of the same features as the X-T4, great ergonomics and $500 cheaper. Fuji are the kings of APS-C.
You guys should make a video about pocketable interchangeable system. Combo of smallest camera with pancake lenses, something like that. The main criteria should just be that you can put it in your pocket.
Yeah, depending on focal length preference it's gonna be either Fuji of Canon M. I wonder why they can't "re-imagine" each other's lens designs to provide a little bit of choice in the pancake form factor. 40mm equivalent is a beautiful normal focal length but 35mm equivalent is way more versatile in tighter situations.
Strange, when you talk about image quality, like in landscaping, on your own DP review it looks to me like the old a6400 and even my older a6000 is slightly better in both raw and jpg to the Fuji X-T4. And the reason for the tiny 'toy' body is it's soooo nice to travel with. On the menu, to a lot of reviewers it might seem awkward, but once you own the camera for a few weeks it's very simple. Plus as you said, you can program everything in and hardly ever have to refer to it. I do agree about the 'thumb' comments and wish it had more physical dials. But then again, it may require a bigger body.
The only hope for rolling shutter on that camera is to record at 30 fps. Even then it is still bad, but at 24 fps it is probably around 30% worse. I had accurate numbers, but I cannot find them right now. But if you are firmly a 24 fps video user, then the Sony is "a great stills camera!" :-)
@@vidthreenorth4007 I found out that the 180 degree method is being used to eliminate it buy blurring the frames, which is sad for me as I always do camera tracking, even the stability of the 6600 isn't that good.
@@ahmad1080p all correct, rolling shutter & ibis are not good on a6600, if those are your priorities than check a7s3 or fx3, used a9 might be a choice but research it first, depending on quality needed & budget maybe a GoPro will do? - it's definitely very stable
The xt4 is obviously the best crop sensored camera out there that is why it's the most expensive of them all. Its price range is within that of a full frame though
Hos does the X-T4 compare to the Panasonic s5? They’re similar price here at the moment, s5 actually a bit cheaper with the 20-60 lens than the Fuji with 16-80 lens.
There's always the XS-10. Btw RP has dynamic range worse than m43, the sensor crops to almost a m43 size in 4k, a G9 or GH5 would do better. Z6 or A7iii don't have 8 bit so for hybrid shooters it's a dealbreaker. I bought the XT4 mainly for video, but in terms of photography it's not too far off. It also has 15fps burst which none of the FF cameras can match unless it's the R5/6, A9 or A1.
@@professionalpotato4764 Well, i did think of it mainly as a photographer so taking into account hybrid necessities then sure the XT-4 seems plausible like you said, but if i had to record video i would use mainly 10 bit just as i use RAW rather than JPG. I've edited XT-4 files and honestly i find them on par with the RP and inferior to the Z6, i don't see any advantages for image quality in the Fuji regardless of time processing the files although the burst rate is a consideration, it's low-key a sports camera because its AF is very good when not on video.
I found area AF-C of my X-T4 trying to lock on the distance it is focusing, so jumping subjects are not easily focused. In video is even worse, it's fast, but with most lenses quite jumpy and only has a single point, area 7x7 or 5x5 would be so much better for video
As a owner of several FF cameras, I avoid traveling with them like the plague! Excellent image quality, but super heavy, every one notices you, etc. Not to mention that the difference in image quality has been shrinking over the years.
To be fair to the other 3 cameras, the XS10 would fit in better with this test. Picking the XT4 is like putting a Porsche with an assortment of family sedans.
This is a comparison of each company's best APS-C mirrorless cameras. Fuji's best APS-C mirrorless camera is the X-T4. It's hardly Fuji's fault that their best APS-C mirrorless camera is so much better than their competitors' best APS-C mirrorless cameras.
I can't disagree with the rankings when they are judged as "professional" cameras where compactness holds little value. I have the 6500 and find it to be the best size compromise for travel where I don't enjoy lugging around my full-frame. Even when viewed from the perspective of a vlogger, the more compact cameras are easier to hold out at arm's length than the Fuji.

I feel that a "Lens selection/System overview" segment is missing. You kind of covered it in the Final Rankings, but I feel like talking about the system as a whole should be more imporant than a sidenote in the final summary.
I agree, I intended the same comment.
Hard to beat as a travel camera
especially with the 16-50 lens
@@CallMeRabbitzUSVI That makes sense because I was feeling the same as the OP.
Exactly! The guy is comparing Honda’s to a Ferrari.
This video wasn’t about price. They compared features and X-T4 has everything that X-S10, but more. That’s why X-S10 isn’t here
Trash comparition. Xt4 cost twice the price of z50
Ultimately, I may end up going with the fuji system, but not for the foreseeable future.
can always go with fuji's X-S10 with considerably smaller body but retains the excellent grip, still has a great IBIS too.
Without even watching - Fujifilm wins.
I mean, it even beats the a7 iii in most categories if you don’t care about full frame sensors.
Fuji is the Japanese Leica.
Seriously, though, those Sony Z batteries are amazing.
LMAO XD
true, probably the main reason I still have a6600 even thought transitioned to full frame
Right!! My A7iii literally last for weeks. Like we're talking 1500+ shots per battery
The Nikon Z50 is a great little companion to a full frame Z system. For example, instead of buying a 35mm prime lens, for the same money I bought the Z50 to put my 20mm lens on. ..and with the little kit lens I have a great travel camera as well as a back up body.
@SF6 Crop factor for wildlife is a huge reason.
Bypassing the full frame has proven to be a great business strategy by Fuji.
I agree it's too crowded
Try the X-S10 and perhaps an L-bracket for the pinky.
Yep -I´m an X-T3 owner and I really miss the ergo of my old Nikon. If I were in the market for a new camera - it would probably be an Z5 or Z6II.
The vertical grip should be considered mandatory for all top-end Fujifilm cameras. With one it's the most comfortable camera ever IMO. And it has the headphone jack anyway.
@@Vinterloft The problem with that is that it defeast the purpose of a compact APS-C camera. I think they got it right with the XS10
And now I'm even more sad that Samsung exited the camera business years ago...
I couldn't agree more. I still have my nx500, and I use it more regularly than a lot of newer cameras I own!
I'm definitely enjoying my a6600. Recent purchase as a b-cam to my A7iii since it has no video record limit and it has been doing a great job for me. Eventually I'll get up to an FX3 or A7Siii, but for now these are good.
I still rock the Canon M6 ii …. Works great with my EOS RP.
Would you feel confident using the m6mk2 for a paid shoot? Are the stills good enough in your opinion?
Those looking to hop into Fuji on a budget I got a used xt3 for $700 and an xs10 can be had for $1000 new. The build quality on their lenses also makes it easy to score pristine quality gear for cheap on eBay.
Yeah, the XS-10 would still beat every camera in this comparison at a lower cost.
In my shithole country they still ask €800 for a completely run down X-T2. Can't imagine what the second hand price for an X-T3 is
I say this as someone who ended up going with the A6600, but the XT-4 truly is an incredible camera.
So on and so forth…
You can do the same.

Big DSLR lenses+ large FTZ Adapter mounted on a small DSLM APS_c is not very attractiv for most people.

Nice review as always, boys. I'm hoping to see a Nikon Z70 with IBIS and an updated 24MP+ sensor to compete with the others. Wishful thinking I guess.
You still need APS-C lenses.
I wake up every morning hoping for a NIKON announcement. Z50 would be my companion if that didn't have a flip-down screen. Nikon Z70 with IBIS and the fully articulated screen is my dream camera as a non-professional who loves to click. Nikon is the best in terms of color science and ergonomics. It's been a great little camera and can see why as Fuji really gave that lineup some dedication. (of course not to say other brands didn't either) but thanks for your help as it was very useful! haha
Fuji for the win! Ditched my EOS RP for the X-T4's baby brother the X-S10 and I made the right choice, the dynamic range alone is a no brainer...
Dynamic range is better on the APS-C than the full frame Canon? Nice
@@AA_fromtexas only on the sensor they used on the EOS RP, it's their cheapest full frame sensor while the apsc sensor on the XS10 is their best... quality over quantity
The kit lens of X-E0, X-T00, X-T0, X-H1, X-S00 and the X-pro are superb with the standard kit-lens has an aperture range of f/2.8-4, while also gave a choice of purchasing them with either 16-80mm f/4 for the X-T and X-S models or the 23mm for the X-E and X-Pro line
I also do think that the comparison is unfair considering the fact that the X-T4 is literally a professional camera with a price-point of a 35mm sensor camera. The X-S10 IMO would be a better comparison for this video. The only camera currently on-par with the X-T4 is the Nikon D500 which is a DSLR.
I love smaller grips. Often those camera that you guys love have a grip that is too large for me. I hated those.
good to know i am not the only one, i also prefer compact cams. My G9 was a good choice, but its so biiiiig..
100% agree. Sometime you actually want a compact camera that is compact.
Great video.

Sony has three current adapters to use their A-mount DSLR lenses. Two of those adapters will even support "screwdriver" auto-focus era lenses, which neither Canon nor Nikon fully support (you can use the lens and will have auto-exposure, but no auto-focus).

I'd like to know how the X-T3 performs against the others. I feel like that might have come second.
This XT-3 owner wonders the same.
As an owner of and a6600, an XT3, and an XT4, I'd put the XT3 just below the a6600. This is for two reasons, the lack of Ibis and the weaker battery life.
I love my X-T4!!!

The a6000 did 11fps in 2014.
Only 2 APS-C Z lenses is a much bigger Problem, dann missing interchangeability between RF EOS-M. Eos M is also a limited system, but offers many more lenses than nikon.

Yes but it isnt dust and weather sealed. It just depend on what you will do with it.
Strange comparison with the huge difference in price between these cameras.

@@letsfindout6587 yeah.. Nikon fanboy who has shot Fuji for the last 5 years until the Z system.. but ok.
Not that surprising that a camera costing almost twice as much as the cheapest in the lineup is better.
I do agree that the Z50 seems to be an orphan without a future, possibly made to be a modernized version
of the Nikon 1 V3 in size and features, which it manages, barely. The Z50 has a built-in EVF, while the V3 has
a detachable, and the V3 has a fraction fewer pixels in the sensor. The last mirrorless the N1 line was the
J5 (that has a 20Mp sensor like the Z50).
A retro-style APS-C with IBIS should have be running to empty my bank account, but the chances for such a
model appearing is very, very, slim.

Like mentioned previously, price becomes a factor at some point because the cost of a XT-4 is the same or even a bit higher as a Z6, RP or A7III.
Even when viewed from the perspective of a vlogger, the more compact cameras are easier to hold out at arm's length than the Fuji.
