I got a 99 E320 last year and it's the best riding, best driving, most comfey automobile I've ever owned. I think I'm 19, but I'm 60, the W210 brings the kid out in me. One can romp on it and it's gone, handling is top shelf. I have given mine alot of TLC. I got the 4 CD set of Benz repair programs, every Benz model from1984-2014. I'M hoping this will be the last automobile I ever have to buy. I have had 100s over the years. I'm as happy as if I got a 69 Mustang with a 429 SCJ. More so I think. I CAN'T IMPLY ENOUGH EVERY YOUNG MAN SHOULD FIND ONE OF THESE AND LOVE IT AND CARE FOR IT AND IT WILL BE WITH YOU TILL YOU DIE. GREATEST AUTOMOBILE EVER MADE BY BENZ, IN MY OPINE!!!!!!

I'm at about 14:14 right now, and you're definitely right. At this time, BMW was _the_ sport solution. Mercedes was an excellent middle ground with sport and comfort, and Audi was pure comfort. Just purchased a running driving 2000 Mercedes Benz E430 Tuesday for $350. Still has the Motorola Mercedes branded flip phone in the upper arm rest. So far I'm really enjoying owning a Mercedes. (My first 1)
I've had my 99' E300 Turbo Diesel for about 6 months now. I LOVE it! It gets about 37 mpg on the highway, rides amazingly smooth and floaty, and even has a bit of power if you need it. I have no desire to get a new car, I'd rather just put some cash into this one. If I were going to get a new one, it would likely just be a newer Mercedes diesel.
Nice review! I have a 2000 E320 4matic in obsidian black and it has xenon lights, heated seats, headlight washers, parktronic, sunshades, navigation, and the Bose sound system. I like the sunroof and comfortable leather in the interior. It's been a fun and reliable car for me as I keep up with the proper maintenance.
They weren't over-engineered without any regard to cost like the previous generations were, and they were the first E-class to officially be built to a "price-point", but at least they were still built to a pretty damn *high* price point. Aside from rust issues thanks to MB's first trial with water-based paint in the 90s, these were still bombproof cars for the most part. This mostly great, mostly classic quality Benz suffers from such an unfairly bad reputation. Compared to the first generation SLK & ML, pre-facelift versions of w220, w203, and w211, etc - this still ranks MUCH closer to the likes of w124, w140 in terms of overall quality/reliability.
Development started in 1988, that enough planning and early development had been done traditionally before the mid-point was reached. It was in 1991 by a consultancies' recommendation, where future projects were affected by cost cutting. W124 cost cutting mostly appeared "allegedly" with the second facelift in 1993 (1994 MY) and in 1994 (95 MY) on W140 facelift. The W210 got affected by virtue of starting production development in 1991, when the exterior design was approved. The W202 was more far along by 1991 than the W210 (1989 approval), but was still affected somewhat by not reaching engineering sign-off until mid-1992. W220 started development after the 1991 edicts to cut spending.
It's hilarious watching people propagate the myths that pre-facelift W220s are somehow worse than the 210s or worse than facelift W220s. You're contributing to the "unfairly bad reputation". The facelifted W220s had more issues than previous thanks to more ABC builds and various other items such as the more problematic revised COMAND. The modular engine and transmission family for both of these cars ('98 and on W210) were designed together. Interior quality of any W220 is about the same save for the hard plastic under the seats that cracks (which was probably more of a poor design when trying to cover up components like the pneumatic lines under the seat).
@@nwezetx1 I'd love to see your source for this. I've read more source material and even have the original German press release/debut book for the 210 and 220 that contradicts what you've said. Where is this "consultancies' recommendation" recorded? The early 90s saw a massive increase of R&D budget for MB where they set out to remain highly competitive against the more aggressive market with new Japanese competitors, etc. Hundreds of patents for individual cars alone were created during this time and new manufacturing tech implemented. The new technology implemented was more of the direct cause of quality issues than simple "cost-cutting" was. Of course there is some truth to saving cost through R&D but they were more concerned with staying on top of competition. Budgeting didn't get as aggressive until after the transfer of Daimler-Benz into Daimler-Chrysler. Even still, MB fought very hard for the brand. It wasn't as simple as what you've said. That's what I'm saying.
in the early 2000's my grandfather owned a Black on Black 2001 S600 w/ the AMG appearance package and his wife owned a 02 E430 Sport. As a kid I was in awe of the S600 because of the beauty, gadgetry, and speed. I didn't really care all that much about the E Class, just didn't have the wow factor...until it did. One day I was riding in the E and suddenly it dawned on me that her car felt so much more solidly built than his. Turns out it was. W210's are amazing!
E39ENTHUSIAST90 Tell me about it... 😜 I have a w210 e200 Kompressor manual from 2002 and owning it has been a blast... 😜 From the ride quality to maintenance is perfect. Inr of the best cars I've ever had too.
i have a 2001 w210 e220. It's very reliable and its very comfortable. Fuel consumption is great, and it has never given me big problems except the srs and abs lights, but i heard that is common on all these mercedes series w210. I have managed to get it 215 km/h with winter tires. It's a very great and fast car for a 4 cylinder 2001 Mercedes.
Bought an older 1997 E320 with 70K on it. The ride is absolutely great. Car is extremely clean and a solid 9 even at 21 years old. Paint is perfect and same color as this one. Usually a car is just a car to me and I got over buying new cars that lose thousands the day you drive them off the lot long time ago but I've really have become attach to this one. I just made a 3,500 mile trip and drove from 80 to 110 MPH on the interstate and found no weakness in the ride at all. Now have 83K and my hopes are that I'll be driven this car for many more miles. I paid $3,000 for it last year and spent about $600 putting brakes on it and making sure everything was perfect. Has a impecable Car Fax on it. There are plenty of these in great condition for under 4k. The way I looked at it this car was priced the same as many low end cars of the same age. People who buys these usually take really good care of them. Older owners which buy a lot of these don't put a lot of miles on them. So you have a high end car that's well maintained.
My dad had a ‘99 and it was a pretty good car. Trans failed at 150K miles and he bought an ‘06 ML350. I would probably buy one of these if I could find a good one. Edit: I ended up buying a 2005 E320 and I love it! The W210 is a fantastic car, but the W211 has always had my heart.
I have a 2000 E430 4Matic 140K Miles. Bought if for $4,000 5 years ago. Sadly it's coming around the time when some parts have become brittle and prone to breaking, but you think about it, these items were all original equipment and just having problems now 2 decades later. Also a Wisconsin/Illinois car so it's been through the winters and summers. I was going to part with it but I can't deny the ride, and the engine is still strong. The problem is panel rust behind the tire wells...the only thing keeping my car from being gorgeous. If I take the plunge to repair it and it lasts another 5-8 years without too much more rust, it'll be worth it. I'll probably just get rid of it when the $$$ for Premium Fuel finally breaks me lol.
this is a very good video about these cars. this guy is really good with truthful info, very rare on youtube where people want to show off how much they can avoid getting to the reason we click,
Parking Lights is more of a use for Europe. There's streets there that are really small, so you enable them during the night so cars coming down the street don't side swipe you
i just bought a 99 E320 Wagon and already the back window stopped working.. I cant get the drivers seat to rise in height but I love it. Very nice ride.
whiteguysboxing the window regulator most likely took a dive. I had to replace the right rear to the 02 E430 I had and it wasn’t rocket science, was pretty easy. Just need to invest in a riveter + you can get the regulator on eBay for like $20, motor itself almost never fails. And try removing the power seat switch & cleaning it out. Over time the contacts and little circuit board produce a conductive dust which either makes the switch not work at all or makes the seat move in all directions like it has a mind on its own
i filed a hole in cassette player door so you can run cord to your phone with door fully closed, 8:25 you do that when your car is parked on narrow road at night and you want people to see your car so you don't get swiped.
this is the best build E class ever. the only car that tops it is the W140. i dont understand why people say its a bad car, the RD was done before the Chrysler mishap. Even today the chassis is still being used
I like this car but I personally think that era 5 series blows this car out the water overall. Comfort is probably where the Benz edges it out and probably much more reliable power plants on the Benz. The bimmer straight sixes were pretty good too.
Just got a 2000 E430. Curious, what did they cost new? I've been told $67,000 by the previous owner. Paid $350 for mine. The family just wanted to get rid of it because they have too many vehicles.
I never have liked this design, but if we compare this with 2019-2021 design, this one is so much better than nowadays design 😕 In my opinion todays most cars looks like toys,at least from exterior
My mom had one of these for 12 years when I was born until she got into a accident when I was 12 but now 4 years later she has a 2008 Bmw 528i but that Mercedes was a great dependable car
How you know this was made by an American? He said "even as diesels". In Germany the E class is sold as Diesels mainly. Those are sometimes still driving around as taxis. These cars can drive 1.000.000 kms and upwards with very little issues
Brother, your w210 with my favourite beige color inside/ outside look amazing and solid. facelift w210 is still a nice choice to drive a a mercedes with a limited budget. pre- w210 has a lot reliability issues so in 1999 , mercedes replaced 1850 parts of this car in the facelift. by the way,you mentioned this is one of the last classic mercedes but bug eyes mercedes like w210 cannot be described as last classic of mercedes benz, last classic mercedes are w140 s class,w124 e class (designed by brunu sacco.who started a golden era for mercedes wit his solid designs since 1970s.with models w116,w126,w107)
BURAK GÜRAY I used the term classic because in terms of the way the car was designed, and the tech, it is not a whole lot different than those of cars 10 years of age or older. Sure it may have more sensors and computers. Heck development commenced in 88, 3 years after the w124s came out. Oh and it still retained the monoblade wiper lol
I think it’s classic-ish. It was the last generation E to use horse hair seat padding and vacuum door locks. Also, the W210 was the last E to have “custom” interior trim to match the specs of the car. Today we are forced to live with blank switches. However, it abandoned the recirculating ball steering rack in favor the contemporary (at the time) rack and pinion.
I found your channel by luck. I was checking the sources of viewers to my channel, and your video leads viewers to my w210 in depth tour video, so thank you :) I love your videos and your knowledge so I had to subscribe. Keep up the good work:)
H danielle I have a w210 e200 Kompressor manual. Owning a car like this from 2002 has been a blast. It really is bombproof and it only needed the A & B service nothing else....
This is the base model and you don't seem to mention the superior build quality and ride comfort that much. I own a premium model 2000 w210 E430 and it is extrodinary. Mine comes with the command system with sat/nav and auxillary port hooked up to Bluetooth all factory with rear sun visor also for someone blinding you at night and you are pretty keen on the driving experience. I took my car up to it's limiter at 133 mph and it was at home. You mention the BMW counterpart and it's build quality and quality control is rubbish compared to the W210. The BMW is far from matching the ride comfort in the w210 the only thing the BMW has is agility. But the w210 in overall view is far superior and is a spectacular ride. Pretty thorough review. Also mine have heated and ventilated seats and does this have the anti-tow feature. In the facelifted models produced 99 and on I'm pretty sure they had 17 inch rims as mine are but it might have been and option great overall review
Intechdude300 yes mine is the sport model I believe the w210 E430 in America was only offered In The sport version as I have yet to see one that isn't sports or their isn't an option on the Benz US website for a non sport one awesome cars
95 e420!! I loved mine. w124 that last clean classic look!.. still deciding if I like the front of the 96 through 02. The 03 through 06 is much better looking.
didn't the W210 have rust issues especially on the Front End suspension parts like control arms and Front Spring perches? i had a chance to drive a W210 E320 Last year on several ocassions and it was later involved in an Accident by the owner that involved possible failure of those parts from rust was never confirmed but the pictures pointed to it.
form109 doesn't happen down south. This is a Southern California / Ft Lauderdale car. Zero rust, underneath the car looks like it rolled off the assembly line
My dad has a 2000 C230K and my aunt has a 2000 E320 4matic, both with less than 20k miles. I could never figure out how much they're worth because it's so rare to see one with low miles
I have the same car & its sucks that I don't have a spare tire, the 10 disc changer is gone, no first aid kit & some other minor things are messed up, bought the car Salvage Title, for $2500 and it has a little over 98,200 miles.. want to sell it not cause i hate it, i love the car but just need a V-4 Coupe cause i do a lot of driving /: great video btw
Jovanny DC lol good luck finding a v4 coupe. You mean a inline 4 coupe. Also do you have pictures of the reason it's salvage? Most times if you nust Google the vin it will pop up. Or just look at the year it turned salvage. If it wasnt recent get rid of it asap. If it was recent it was most likely a very small collision
I find it hilarious how the tow-sensor button is located right next to the most frequently used buttons. It's almost as if the engineers knew you'd be needing it often.
Actually, this little beasts are bulletproof , old mercedes and even some 2000 mercs run till they die, little to none extra costs, only regular maintenance
I think of it as the W211's fugly older sister. And boy do they love a good rust session, Awful cars unless you live in a hot climate. Whilst the W211 wasn't without faults especially the very early SBC braked and ungalvanized versions they were miles apart in just about every category though I will concede the W210 was blessed with that legendary and seriously tunable OM606 turbo diesel engine.

Spot on appraisal. Great Benz to own. I like my w210 better than the w211 that I sold. It just feels like a higher quality build overall.
That's what I'm saying.
w210 is a best mercedes than ever made
I dont have one of these, how ever I have found one for sale and I want one now. Thank you for this great review of this year model.
in the early 2000's my grandfather owned a Black on Black 2001 S600 w/ the AMG appearance package and his wife owned a 02 E430 Sport.
NICE REVIEW, I also owened a W210, and it was the best car I ever had
E39ENTHUSIAST90 Tell me about it... 😜 I have a w210 e200 Kompressor manual from 2002 and owning it has been a blast... 😜 From the ride quality to maintenance is perfect. Inr of the best cars I've ever had too.
Me too
i had a 1998 e220. It was very comfortable and economic. I sold it due to rust issue.
Me too
Love, love this car, mine is 23 years old
Great review, been watching for years.
Your quality is through the roof!
Here in the UK you can pick one of these up for well under £1,000, just seen an E320 Diesel top spec for £650, very tempting!
i have a 2001 w210 e220.
The W210 is a fantastic car, but the W211 has always had my heart.
beautiful car and an iconic engine track. I have a 2001 E240 and I'm restoring it this summer!
Wish we had more of these!
this is a very good video about these cars. this guy is really good with truthful info, very rare on youtube where people want to show off how much they can avoid getting to the reason we click,
Parking Lights is more of a use for Europe.
Over time the contacts and little circuit board produce a conductive dust which either makes the switch not work at all or makes the seat move in all directions like it has a mind on its own
Intechdude300 oh why thank you very much
Really appreciate the review! Very helpful! I will be picking up the same car soon as my first car!
i filed a hole in cassette player door so you can run cord to your phone with door fully closed, 8:25 you do that when your car is parked on narrow road at night and you want people to see your car so you don't get swiped.
Just picked up one, love it
Jonathan Marcelin May I ask which year, how much mile and the price?
@@user-qd7gq2vr4b Year 2000 180k miles
Pls do more reviews, they’re really good imo.
this is the best build E class ever. the only car that tops it is the W140. i dont understand why people say its a bad car, the RD was done before the Chrysler mishap. Even today the chassis is still being used
I like this car but I personally think that era 5 series blows this car out the water overall. Comfort is probably where the Benz edges it out and probably much more reliable power plants on the Benz. The bimmer straight sixes were pretty good too.
the interior is stylish in its own way! practical and German! 🙂
I always wanted one of these when they were current but couldn't justify the cost. Now I see them for sale for $2000 - $7000.
Just got a 2000 E430. Curious, what did they cost new? I've been told $67,000 by the previous owner.
Paid $350 for mine.
The family just wanted to get rid of it because they have too many vehicles.
@@colonel9990 Google says $47,100, which sounds more correct than $67,000.
I never have liked this design, but if we compare this with 2019-2021 design, this one is so much better than nowadays design 😕 In my opinion todays most cars looks like toys,at least from exterior
such a beautiful interior
My mom had one of these for 12 years when I was born until she got into a accident when I was 12 but now 4 years later she has a 2008 Bmw 528i but that Mercedes was a great dependable car
Jim Estabrook and singer Christine Marie ricci had a nice one but now we are getting something even better!!
These don't exist this clean up North anymore.
Dude i just got a steal nothing wrong with it yet al black and has tints jus gotta pray
Excellent review. Lots of interesting information and entertaining too. The monoblade wiper is great. I wish Mercedes still used it .
How you know this was made by an American? He said "even as diesels". In Germany the E class is sold as Diesels mainly. Those are sometimes still driving around as taxis. These cars can drive 1.000.000 kms and upwards with very little issues
Great car, I just wish I could pull my trailer with mine, I see MB pulling trailers all over Europe
My favorite car ever I had a 2001 that I kept until 178,000 miles great video thanks
Those are not amg rims mate
I have two w202's and a w210 and all my cupholders work....I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!
Bought a green 2001 e320 for a grand. If it wasn't for the rust I'd still have it. Very poor paint. But that 3.2 had plenty of power...
I have one, Turbo Diesel though
We use to have this when I was 8 years old I’m 23 now. When we furst got it we were flexing of how it looked lol.
I found your channel by luck. I was checking the sources of viewers to my channel, and your video leads viewers to my w210 in depth tour video, so thank you :)
I love your videos and your knowledge so I had to subscribe. Keep up the good work:)
Gran vehículo yo tengo uno y es una maravilla tanto en su conducción como en su estabilidad, además de la seguridad.
I like that car so much i really respect w210 its great Mercedes Benz car
H danielle I have a w210 e200 Kompressor manual. Owning a car like this from 2002 has been a blast. It really is bombproof and it only needed the A & B service nothing else....
I own one and the cup holder works thanks for letting me know about the ac flow for the back
Picking mine up in 2 days
I personally owned an 02 E430 Sport.
Intechdude300 yes mine is the sport model I believe the w210 E430 in America was only offered In The sport version as I have yet to see one that isn't sports or their isn't an option on the Benz US website for a non sport one awesome cars
Is the factory sat nav worth it? Because I have the CD-audio 10 and I have been thinking to replace it with the factory sat nav.
I will buy one in a couple month they are so cheap nice Video man
I bought a 96 and everything works. I replaces a drive shaft. But!!! I payed 200 dollas for it ... AC needs chargin.. But It drives great...
This car was damaged on the front right side..look at the head lights. They were repleced. And look again on left head lights..See defferences?
I really want this car but I hate the new e class one of these are a lot softer than the new one
The stock optional cd changer is mounted in the trunk
Damn, I was actually looking forward to seeing the cup holder lol
Excellent review
I got two... both in great shape. Dope cars. But u can't be stingy or broke or you'll complain often. I'm about to wrap my gold one matte black.
Cracked dashboards are preventable with a sunshade and a dashmat.
My dad has a 2000 C230K and my aunt has a 2000 E320 4matic, both with less than 20k miles. I could never figure out how much they're worth because it's so rare to see one with low miles
This car drives very nice
What percent are the front and rear windows tinted I have the Exact same car and would like to get it
I have the same car & its sucks that I don't have a spare tire, the 10 disc changer is gone, no first aid kit & some other minor things are messed up, bought the car Salvage Title, for $2500 and it has a little over 98,200 miles.. want to sell it not cause i hate it, i love the car but just need a V-4 Coupe cause i do a lot of driving /: great video btw
Perfect review Thanks .. and Perfect car ofcourse
One of my favs
I love this car
does this car have an aux input somewhere for my music & to charge phone
I like this one. And cool hat
I have a 1998 E230 W210. Do you know the wheel size from the factory? Is it 15" or 16"?
Good video lots Info thank you ,, Just one question what the letters {W/S} next to Speed gears Thank you.
Are these W210 a quiet highway car with road/tyre noise if on the small wheels? W202 is not a quiet highway car so I wonder about the 210.
I'm about to get a W210. It is very quiet.
Tengo uno igual en ese mismo color, es año 2002, el volante es también de madera y trae lavafaros. 👍💪🇲🇽🇲🇽
How does this compare to your C230? I drive a '99 C230K Sport - love it
Great Benz
I think of it as the W211's fugly older sister. And boy do they love a good rust session, Awful cars unless you live in a hot climate. Whilst the W211 wasn't without faults especially the very early SBC braked and ungalvanized versions they were miles apart in just about every category though I will concede the W210 was blessed with that legendary and seriously tunable OM606 turbo diesel engine.
Very nice!
This in 2021? Ridiculous if I buy?
I just spent a lot for a 2001 wagon, 86000 miles .... DO IT!
Why'd u delete this earlier
No sound in certain parts for some reason
Intechdude300 that's odd.
Is it just me or is it leaking oil?
one436purcell no, it's water from the a/c. It's actually a very good sign
