- In 2000 Os du Randt retired from rugby after multiple injuries. In 2007 he would retire as the greatest loosehead prop in the world and a double Rugby World Cup winner. This is the story behind Os Du Randt's famous comeback.

I remember in the 2007 final when England put a kick in behind the springbok backline. Fourie gathered the ball in the 22 but was tackled and in trouble. Os was the first player to clean the ruck. Then I knew he was the greatest prop ever

Os is such a humble legend. Judging by the footage he must have lost 20kgs between 2000 and the World Cup in 2007.
@Jan Niemandt In 2007 & 2019 we looked the best conditioned team. In 2015 Heyneke did not seem to have that under control.
A wonderful tribute, to a very talented and deserving player. I've never taken the time to find out more about the man behind the name. This video is as warming and gracious as 'Os' himself appears to be. Thanks for taking the time to make it, and for sharing it with us. I remember having once recorded a Currie Cup match (or Super Rugby perhaps) between the Cheetahs and the Sharks on a cassette tape many years ago.
I think it was in Durban, and late in the second half ... Os du Randt tackled Sharks fullback and Springbok legend André Joubert out on the left hand corner flag.
The Sharks almost immediately got possession and attacked again, so less than a minute later Joubert ended up in another highly promising sprint for the right hand corner flag. Again he got stopped with another desperate diving tackle by two players at the last moment, with GUESS WHO on top of him ...?

I had the Absolute pleasure of meeting him one night in Pretoria many years ago! Adriaan Richter was also there. Os was very laid back and decent and friendly. But OH MAN is he a Beast, Bulk of a man!!! The biggest bastards that i've EVER seen. He's not that tall but Much taller than your avarage prop. But it was the sheer bulk of him!!!
Then years ago my step sister got he's signature when he was in Melbourne with then Springboks. They stayed in the same hotel.
Even she was damn impressed with his size and friendlynes.
