After a lot of coverage about wet markets in the news lately due CV, I thought it’d be best to share my experience at the Bankerohan Market in Davao City to help shed some light on the wet market scene.
After a late night getting to meet Jean Garcia and JC Santos at Nanay Bebeng’s with my wife, son, siblings and friends, I got up super early to join my palangganggang (Mama) and Uncle Freddie on a trip to the palengke (wet market) in Davao City, Philippines. The name of the market in the heart of Davao City is called Bankerohan Market.
One thing I noticed right away, besides the plethora of Filipino fruits, vegetables, fish and chicken was the welcoming and warm interactions with the local Filipinos in Davao City. It seemed like every few minutes I was welcomed with a friendly, “hello.” And they were quite surprised to hear my simple replies back in Bisaya (the local language).
After editing this vlog, I hope I was able to portray a sense of perspective to how my palangganggang (Mama) in the Philippines goes about getting food for the family every Sunday along with the wonderful culture of the Philippines.

I just wish I was able to get some close up shots of Mama haggling away with the vendors. She's a master at haggling. Hahaha! I'll keep the vlogs coming.
