    The problem with Ryu is that he doesnt have mix at all unless he does DR overhead. Other than that, you can just cr block ryu and youre fine. If you get hit by ryu its because you messed up.
    Ryu is heavily reliant on HP DP as it nets him so much more damage and going for pressure/oki with ryu isnt as important as the other characters because his corner carry is trash no matter how you choose to play him and his pressure sucks no matter what you do, so youre better off going for damage in all scenarios.
    Been playing since crack and THAT is ryus strength over other characters in this game. He has one of the beat level 3s and 2s in the game and hes a damage output character, not an oki pressure character.
    This is exacrly why people place him bottom 4, the scene is playing Ryu wrong.
    Ryu sucks, not saying hes good, but people play him wrong and do not optimize his strengths.

  • @soggytoast111
    @soggytoast111 Год назад

    I think after light tatsu you can dash first and then DR so it's less telegraphed that you are coming in for oki.

    • @machoortv
      @machoortv  Год назад +1

      That’s not good because if the opponent wakes up OD shoryuken it will be a guaranteed punish you can’t bait it on both recover in place or backwards. Also if the opponent wakes up backwards and wakes up light punch you can throw them. So why do it and limit your mix up options?

  • @vex4324
    @vex4324 Год назад

    Awesome video guide as always! But I was wondering, how do you usually calculate the timing after the dash in the light Tatsu Oki? Do you count on your head or you see something on the animation?

    • @machoortv
      @machoortv  Год назад +1

      No need to count anything, just look at the opponent when they get up, practice it for a few mins set the dummy to do wake up light punch and recover backwards and you will understand the timing!

      I don’t think modern is fun but it’s up to you

    • @paulpesci1
      @paulpesci1 Год назад +1

      Back or down+hard punch if you're too late for a DP.
      Parry on a jump in is risky but if you perfect parry you can guaranteed throw.
      Also, go into training room, simple training settings. Pick the anti air practice and grind it. Practice leaving the DP as late as possible.
      Edit: one thing newer players might not know... There's a shortcut for a DP. You don't have to do the full Z motion if you're crouching. Start at forward down diagonal, slide to back down diagonal, then back to forward down diagonal + punch. This can also auto correct if they cross you up in the right circumstances. Try it out 👍🏻
