Mo Norman too! Wide stance! Drove legs down the line keeping the club square for a long time. Thus a straight ball. But I don't recall his trail foot moving.
I want to give this drill a try, thanks! Gary Player had a famous drill where he would start walking after the shot immediately after contact. I think maybe it was trying to help similarly.
Hi Eric enjoy your videos I'm not thinking about dragging the right foot my focus is as you said have the feet rotate the hips rather than just the hips and can there be too much lateral movement kindly advise thanks for your help Jack
So this is where I truly dislike the term weight shift. I'm a new golfer and my sports background tells me to push off my trail foot to shift my weight forward but that ends up with me with a reverse pivot. For about a year now I've been thinking I need to push off one foot at a time but I'm starting to push with both feet with most of my pressure on my lead foot so when I push it causes my hips to turn.
My golf buddies give me a hard time about moving my trail leg off the ground. Personally I believe its an unconscious move after a complete weight shift, I either tell them its a Gary Player walkthrough or a Scheffler slide (though no intent to emulate Scheffler), depending on the day. Greg Norman had a distinctive foot slide similar to Scheffler (30 yrs ago).
How do you stop your upper body from moving towards the target with your hips at the same time? My entire body seems to shift towards the target, not just my hips (more sway than rotation).
Hey! Side bend and extension The head stays BACK from the right shoulder going DOWN and the CHEST going UP I go through that more here: ruclips.net/video/2eN4MVUJZHU/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Mf1g1zxKtMc/видео.html
Whenever I don't do this I hit it fat and sometimes cut a slab of turf underneath the ball. I find I do that later in the round when I'm getting tired and putting more effort/focus on swinging the arms
Hey Doug! Generally you need to ADD rotation to that "slide" to get it to work correct I go through that in more detail here: ruclips.net/video/QOZZJ3Gmkpw/видео.html&pp=ygUSRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHNsaWRl
My observation....if you, in the backswing, rotate the right hip so it moves slightly laterally towards the target, the hips will automatically move you towards the target without any other intention.
If you watch SS's swing, he is not rotating and sliding the hip. He is sliding and rotating the hip. Since, most of the teachers guide everyone to rotate the hip, getting into SS's swing is difficult. Eric tried but he ended up rotating and sliding.
Yep for sure thats a big part of it because of the HIGH ARMS.....to help shallow them. but they ALL slide......just a matter of how much. 4-6 inches forward slide in downswing is about average....some more some less
Great presentation Eric and Andrew!!!! YOUR GREAT!!!! Thanks!!!!
Appreciate ya Valentino!!

You're right, he was text book, probably why his foot didn't drag, they were all about that finish position back then, tip toe trail foot.
Yes!
I want to give this drill a try, thanks!

Hope this one helps Cody!!

I have to get the hips moving targetward at left arm parallel in the backswing to get this move, but when I do, its very nice
Yes!!
Billy Casper did this too. Dragged the right foot forward very visibly.
Yes!!
Great video.Doesn’t the initial move of the down swing really start with the push off with the ‘ Right foot ‘ ?

@@FlankerJackChannel If you keep your head centred thru the swing you won’t reverse pivot .
@@johnblackwell7077 well that's the real trick isn't it?
@@FlankerJackChannel
I find that bumping the hips towards the target stops me from the reverse pivot
Part of it for sure John! Falling into lead side and pushing off trail

HAha agreed!! Totally fine if you get the desired result :)

@@PerformanceGolfZone Thanks for the tips. Will definitely work on it. Your videos and the way you explain things is great!
Thank you!

Hope you get it sorted my friend!
💯
Moe Norman had a massive trail foot drag like this.
And we know how many PGA events he won.
@@mrfld 55 professional wins.
Yes!
If I’ve already been told I slide on the downswing, is this a bad idea?! Or am I maybe just sliding the wrong way
Hey Doug! Generally you need to ADD rotation to that "slide" to get it to work correct

you got it!

Yes!!

Big part of it for sure! We talked about that exact thing here:

Greg norman did this in his prime.
Yes he did! Great striker!

Thanks for watching and the feedback!
He and Jack. Current trend seems to be strong preference away from their swings even though they're two of the best.
Ok but SS drags the trail foot forward and towards the REAR, not just sideways - Why is that?
We'll have to do more on that in another video!
Watch a bowler. If they are sending it,their rear leg slides behind the lead leg.
Turn at your target
Yep! Sometimes it can be that simple....sometimes you gotta add some layers of detail to help learn :)
Doesn’t Scotty slide with the hips because he has a steep downswing?
Yep for sure thats a big part of it because of the HIGH ARMS.....to help shallow them.
