It's really crazy when people making a list of the best vocalist in Kpop, they always exclude Changmin. This guy got some legendary and a very distinct voice.
They exclude Max, Lee Hong Ki, Kyunhyun, N. Leo, Sandeul Jaejoong, Xia and Hwanseung from any list of best vocalisrs and to be honest that is a big mistake.
So it turns out that Changmin’s Devil is actually a remake of a song of the same name that came out last year by a musician named Alex Runo! Changmin said he heard the original and knew he wanted to release a version and also that the hardship he is referring to is about Covid and the pandemic. The entire album is absolute fire
In the world of Kpop, Changmin's vocal prowess is nearly unrivaled in tone, range, texture, and flexibility. He can sing anything and hit almost any note.
He is amazing!!! His vocals are insane and he can command them anyway he likes. However, what I loved most is how he conveyed such emotion in this cover, but still paid homage to the artist while making it his own. Also I loved how refreshing this song was to me; no one in music period is doing this on this type of level.Y’all should also check out his other videos from his Devil album, “Fever” and “Maniac” . The man can literally do all styles.
It's only January and as Bang Bang said, it's going on my top 10. Normally, I don't analyze the production aspect of songs too much - I just enjoy if it resonates with me and I vibe with it. But the production on this was insane to me. It felt like a classical music piece. All the layers build up to give you that impact. The song is such a conflict - on the one hand, the soundscape is really complex, but on the other, it also has these parts that are so empty and it's just Changmin. This is just one of these times where it's so important if someone is a new kpop fan to just educate yourself on Kpop. Not knowing who this man is, or any of the 1st/2nd gen idols are does you such a disservice.
Appreciated your shocked reaction The EP is so diverse and random and a trip (Around the world and through time and space) at the same time. Each song is a different genre but they give me something I didn't know I need.
It's like an old west tail, the humming, the acoustic guitar, the structure of the song. Olders idols are on another level, they have a maturity that the it comes with experience and age.
This song is basically a fight for willpower to overcome the Devil inside of one's self, the light and the dark. I love this video, Max did a really great job on this project, Shout Out to all who made it happen.
I didn’t know what to expect because I’ve never heard him or his group. When I watched it, just like you guys I was totally blown away. It’s one of those rare songs that hits you deep down inside and holds onto you. His vocals were amazing and the style of the video was perfect. It looks like I’m going down another rabbit hole…🐇🕳
He is a Superstar, full stop! He's power to transfer feeling of non-obedience to the devi and constant fight is superb! Please, please, please react on 'Fever', it is incredible. Thank you and blessings.
Normally a lurker of your vids, but I just wanted to thank you for reacting to this! I honestly check for new reactions to this song every day and I'm hoping to see my fav reactors check it out. Truly unique track that has been on repeat for me. I hope you check out the album or at least check out his performance of Fever from the SMTown Concert. Changmin's voice and performance qualities are golden and 2022 K-Pop is off to a strong start thanks to him! I really enjoy his mini and hope I can pick it up somewhere.
I was EXACTLY like you-didn't know what I was expecting-it sure as heck wasn't THIS. Its perfect in every way-showcases his vocals so perfectly. It feels like he opened a vault and blazed a whole new trail for himself. I have only one minor critique-and that was the including of the word Kwangya but I'm guessing that since he is an SM artist he took that word for a different meaning ( you can see he's alone on a plain with the white outfit which is his interpretation of it). Damn. Also Ace mentioned he looks like an angel- his fans also call him Voldemin cos he legit can be very savage when he talks lol.
All he needed was a Sunday morning church organ/piano, lawd. I was fortunate to hear and see Max live 12 years ago, and his voice and powerful performances STILL get me every time. This is my favorite project of his to date! Oooooh thanks for this! Yeah, I knew it was FAHHH.
Im happy to see people loving Changmin after so many years, he is incredible, go see Fever live please. We call him our Deer, that´s why the animal representation, and we call him Lord Voldemin coz he is not the "normal idol", he don´t interact with fans like the other common idols, he gonna put you on your place always, and that´s why he is our "devil", and we love that of him so much, Im happy people can discover him and enjoy his talent.
Notice how SM used "Devil" to draw Changmin/TVXQ into its SM Culture Universe with the reference to Kwanyga in the lyrics and the pink planet you see in the MV, etc. I guess as Rising Gods of the East, it makes sense that TVXQ could be otherworldly-beings just like the rest of SM's groups and artists, in order to connect their storyline to the rest of SM's Universe story. Changmin has been nicknamed Bambi by his fans and he has taken it on as a sort of spirit animal that represents him, so I think the deer in the MV is supposed to symbolize him. If you read the lyrics, the song is about having self doubts and bad thoughts and harboring those feelings within your heart. So in the end the deer (himself) becomes like the Devil because he has now embraced those feelings. During U-Know's and his reaction video to the MV, Changmin said the forest you see him in is a real forest and they had to take a boat to get there. They used drones with lights on them to light the area to give it that spooky effect. "Devil" is the title track off his second solo mini album Devil. If you haven't yet, check out his pre-release "Fever" stage video that was part of SM's New Year's Eve SMTown SMCU Express concert and "Maniac" promotional video which are also songs on this album.
If you all haven't reacted to Max Changmin stage performance to FEVER. It's unreal. It's demanding of you and truly UNREAL how he performs. You won't regret doing a video on that.
Already knew how fire this was...3 days ago...and I can't get enough of this song..this mv is masterful...showing why Max and Yunho are SM royalty....the confidence, charisma and experience these 2 have...of course they still got it.. they may be in their 30s, but in their prime, at least for me. TVXQ, Rain, BigBang. SUJU and Shinee are who brought me into Kpop 15, 16 years ago...their song "Keep Your Head Down" floored me...at a time when Western music was a little more than underwhelming for me...I will always have my favs in Western music...like Post Malone, and a few others...but the list is short...in 2006 I fell in the Kpop hole and have been so entertained by the hard work and money spent on training these artists, the production value of their music and mvs, the diversity and endless talent and variety kpop has to offer...that I never looked back. Kpop is fun. We should appreciate the work these talented artists put into their careers, and although the kpop standards have been done to death...I know what I will hear once and only once...and our decisive ears grab a hold of gems like this. With Max's vocals, we been knew....this was incredible...Bravo Max...👏👏👏 💙🌺
I've been waiting for you all to react to this because I suspected this might be how you'd react. When I first heard it, my first reaction on hearing the opening was, this sounds like an old Southern spiritual. This is definitely a contender for song of the year even though it's only January.
So glad you guys reacted to this, everytime I listen to this song I get goosebumps. His EP is definitely worth checking out. There are two b-side videos Fever and Maniac, hope you guys can check them out as well.
Yall have to check out the B-Side Fever he has a stage video for it from the SM concert and that song is 👏👏👏👏 I've had it on repeat for a week and a half!!
I'm so proud of Changmin he always brings it but like this was a whole thing was another level. The coreo and the concept. Yall have to check out his song Fever the Stage from SM concert from a couple a weeks ago. AMAZING! The album is amazing too!!!
Lots I wish I could say, but can’t articulate at the moment. Definitely check out the rest of the album though. The sounds are so wildly different track to track, it’s pretty awesome. MANIAC has a promo video and FEVER the stage video from SMCU that apparently floored everyone and was one of the top two if not 1st place stage for watchers
This song is amazing Max did not come to play per usual but this right here is different his vocal range is bananas on this track and the album is 🔥🔥. You guys must check out Fever by Max he dropped that video just before DEVIL ChefsKiss 💯…. S/N BangBang facial expression was priceless it just stayed like that thru the whole video 🤭🤭❤️❤️ And he dropped a dance 🕺 practice Video immmm screaming 😱
I am so glad you guys reacted to this song, I think his vocals & this song are great! Yes, he was with TVXQ and the other great vocalist in that group was Xia. I really wish & have asked before for you guys to react to Xia's songs; Tarantallegra & Rock the World. Even if you want to do it in one of your Throwback reactions....PLEASE!!!
It's really crazy when people making a list of the best vocalist in Kpop, they always exclude Changmin. This guy got some legendary and a very distinct voice.
that's why i dont trust any that kind of list if i dont see any TVXQ5 members names in it lol
They exclude Max, Lee Hong Ki, Kyunhyun, N. Leo, Sandeul Jaejoong, Xia and Hwanseung from any list of best vocalisrs and to be honest that is a big mistake.
@@jisungsmom1273 THANK YOU DEAR, THANK YOU. You speak truth.
They put any member of BTS on the list but not Changmin, these lists are bs.
And that’s how you know automatically that they’re new to Kpop and don’t know the real OG vocal kings like @Lupita won listed.
King of high notes! It sucks that second generation artists are so underrated w new kpop fans. He's such a legend
New Kpop fan here who loves his voice!!
SM is the house of wonderful singers from all generations.
One of the few companies that has focused on the voice and not on the dance, although they also do it very well.
@@AdeOso1190ok but we have taemin from shinee &kai from exo
