There are tons of reputable breeders that offer classes that you also attend with your dog. Never use a boarding facility that trains your dog out of your sight. What’s the point of training if you’re not learning too?
Dog grooming salons usually have cameras. Does she have staff or work alone? I wonder if she left dogs unattended on the grooming table and they fell off. That is something you don't do. People get fired for any kind of rough handling at reputable salons. That is what cameras are for. Also protect business too.

It should be a requirement for all boarding facilities to have accessible cameras on their pets while in the kennel (because that’s where they are most of the time) and cameras in the play yard, etc so the owners can have peace of mind. There's no such thing as "training" where you leave your unruly dog and come pick up up wonderfully trained a few weeks later. All they do is beat their spirit out of them when they're simply playful energetic dogs. If you can't deal with all the facets of owning a young dog, don't get one. Imaging being a toddler and being shipped off to "behavioural school" where all they do is beat you into compliance.
You need to find better trainers then. There are several service dog trainers that only use positive reinforcement training whose dogs are obedient and still energetic.

One of the few exceptions is for service dogs because the task training can be done by a third party and reinforced by the handler. There are also a handful of good board and train facilities but they are rare and often have the trainer work with the family after the board.

As a dog trainer, this sickens me. I'm crying. This is horrifying. Unimaginable. I started working with dogs 25 years ago _because I love dogs._ All dogs. The more difficult, the better as far as I'm concerned. If an accident even happened, I'd never forgive myself. I love all my clients like my own dogs, and I love them like my children. Second, training dogs does not include using fear tactics or physical beatings and starvation. This type of dog lives in constant fear and could turn on anyone even owners. Third: all dogs should be trained with compassion, kindness, respect, treats and vocal praise!!! When a dog enjoys the training, he will excel and never become fearful.
As someone who has a daycare and boarding service, this makes me want to cry. Dogs in my care are given all the love and care that I give my own. My clients know they never have to worry about their dog in my care.
Sounds like she should be sentenced to 8 hours in a locked car with the windows up on a 100 degree day. If she survives that, then she does another 24 hours in the trunk.

Dog trainers and breeders should have to maintain a business license at the bare minimum so that they can be randomly inspected without notice by animal control or the police. Unannounced inspections is the only real way to catch bad conditions and mistreatment. This lady should be permanently banned from operating a pet related business or working as an employee in any pet related business.
Word of advice, don’t entrust your pets to someone else, training should include you. Trainers are supposed to teach you, how to train your dog. And it builds a very strong bond between you.

Some of these trainers bring their ego, anger and emotional issues to their work. I took my dog to a training facility for a socialization course. My dog (mixed breed) was small but had fear aggression response. The owner/trainer was a big man in military style clothing. First red flag, he immediately disliked that I asked some questions about the training techniques he used. My dog and I joined the small training group and did basic exercises like walking, stopping, etc. One large dog acted aggressively toward another dog and the man threw a large heavy chain at the dog. This intimidated the dog. I wondered how this could be useful, since it's sure not something I would do or carry on walks. A dog snapped at my dog, spooking him and he took off running toward the gate of the facility. The trainer chased him, swinging the chain, and let it fly. The chain hit my dog on the upper back and got caught on his collar, making him panic even more. My dog was about 7lbs, that chain must have hurt. I caught him and threw the chain on the ground. I was pretty mad but went non-stop to my car. The guy followed me and was shouting stuff. I refused to pay for that 'training' and never went back.

This is so heartbreaking as a pet owner.
She wasn’t training, just abusing. First, my dog isn’t going anywhere for training unless I am there to observe. Second, training dogs does not include using fear tactics or physical beatings and starvation. This type of dog lives in constant fear and could turn on anyone even owners. Third: all dogs should be trained with compassion, kindness, respect, treats and vocal praise!!! When a dog enjoys the training, he will excel and never become fearful.
Never leave a dog at training facilities. Take you pup to classes at you side, you train w teachers help.
Dog and pet care is way unregulated. And this should change.

Dogs in my care are given all the love and care that I give my own. My clients know they never have to worry about their dog in my care.

Sounds like she should be sentenced to 8 hours in a locked car with the windows up on a 100 degree day. If she survives that, then she does another 24 hours in the trunk.

Now let us see if the judge will do the right thing and not just give her a slap on the wrist. It annoys me that these people are allowed to get away with things like this for so long. She should also be made to pay all costs and compensations to anyone involved. Past or present.

Omg people…..stop sending your dogs to these bootcamp training…….hire a trainer that goes to your house instead …..you have now idea how many other places like this exist in Florida that never got justice like this…..I have witnessed and treated dogs in animal hospitals with shock collar burns to blunt force trauma to the face or kick in the stomach……..not all are like this but 99.9 percent of them are a disappointment and disgusting!!!

i’ve said this a million times and i’ll say it a million more: if you suspect someone or something is being abused, report it even if your evidence is just a gut feeling. better safe than sorry. imagine how many animals would have lived if the people that first suspected abuse reported her.

Dog trainers and breeders should have to maintain a business license at the bare minimum so that they can be randomly inspected without notice by animal control or the police. Unannounced inspections is the only real way to catch bad conditions and mistreatment. This lady should be permanently banned from operating a pet related business or working as an employee in any pet related business.
She needs to go to jail and pay heavy fines. Those dogs depended on her and she was cruel.
Why is she only charged with one count when they can prove at least two recently died because of her?

Stop leaving dogs with trainers, not only are you visibly able to check on them, but the dog bonds to the trainer, not you!
This is so heartbreaking. My spouse and I are dog trainers and sadly we see things like this often.
Word of advice, don’t entrust your pets to someone else, training should include you. Trainers are supposed to teach you, how to train your dog. And it builds a very strong bond between you.
This is how Dahmer got started! They start with animals then upgrade to people. It's a mental problem. Crazy people. Pets are little friends born just for you to give you unconditional love. True love. Please take care of them & love them.
Some of these trainers bring their ego, anger and emotional issues to their work. I took my dog to a training facility for a socialization course. My dog (mixed breed) was small but had fear aggression response. The owner/trainer was a big man in military style clothing. First red flag, he immediately disliked that I asked some questions about the training techniques he used.
My dog and I joined the small training group and did basic exercises like walking, stopping, etc. One large dog acted aggressively toward another dog and the man threw a large heavy chain at the dog. This intimidated the dog. I wondered how this could be useful, since it's sure not something I would do or carry on walks. A dog snapped at my dog, spooking him and he took off running toward the gate of the facility. The trainer chased him, swinging the chain, and let it fly. The chain hit my dog on the upper back and got caught on his collar, making him panic even more. My dog was about 7lbs, that chain must have hurt. I caught him and threw the chain on the ground. I was pretty mad but went non-stop to my car. The guy followed me and was shouting stuff. I refused to pay for that 'training' and never went back.

This hurt my heart. I left my baby with a boarder for 5 days and freaked out everyday. I can't imagine the pain these families are going through.

It's heartbreaking to hear about this. Animals give us unconditional love and trust, and it's devastating when that trust is broken. Pets deserve to be treated with care and respect, and it's tragic when they suffer due to negligence or cruelty.
How any person who loves their pet family member can put them into a strange building with complete strangers is horrific. Every single 'Expert Trainer' 'Dog behaviourist' 'Best dog care' are out to make money first and will use force with your dog while you are at home relaxing.
I cant even look at this news report..Im so upset at innocent animals suffering till death at the hands of people who want the "Perfect Dog".
