    You'll notice at 14:04 that at the first crank the distributor moved significantly counter clockwise when trying to start it. That may be why it didn't start at all.

    • @greasebellygarage
      @greasebellygarage  Год назад

      I remember that being pointed out to me in the past but I sold this car to a friend of mine who discovered that the bell housing was completely full of rat houses, pine needles, etc the flex plate was corroded and was about to break. They did not bother trying to get it running any further either mostly due to the condition of all the wiring on the car it was pretty well ate up inside and out. It was a real shame though because that car was in really nice shape when it was parked and it was very unique.

    • @LuxTinkering
      @LuxTinkering Год назад

      I thought the distributor for these models were supposed to move counter. I couldve sworn that was mentioned to me cause it was so odd.

    • @greasebellygarage
      @greasebellygarage  Год назад

      @@LuxTinkering I think counterclockwise is correct for these engines but ultimately the problem was there was a bunch of rodent homes built in near the flywheel and the flex plate which were rotted the flex plate in half. That was the real problem was all the debris from the rodents got wrapped around everything in there. The engine was absolutely destroyed internally as well. It was probably never going to start.

    First couple times he turned it over it was dry it's probably going to be a decent motor cuz if you noticed that after about the four time and started turning over constantly turning over that means he's already building the oil pressure and get it started pull put it outside and pour some transmission fluid down in it was running get a little high RPM

      @greasebellygarage  2 года назад

      I totally agree with your assessment I would have taken the engine further had it not been for the condition of the wiring in the car. Actually that car turned out to be in pretty bad condition overall and the 260 V8 is not very desirable.

      I just spoke to the guy that bought it from me a few days ago. He continued where I left off. The problem ended up being that the flex plate was rotted out from rat nests in the bell housing. They also disassembled the top side of the engine and the cylinders were completely full of really heavy rust. I think I had the best shot of starting it when I was inside the shop I should have just straight wired 12 volts to the distributor however I did have it firing a couple of times off video. I didn't really ever expected to start because I had known it had sat for almost 30 years in a field and I don't think the car was all that well kept mechanically when it was parked in 92.
