My wife is a pianist and we started a studio. She has a curriculum but she also has them pick a song that they want to play. She'll spend hours at night practicing new songs so she can guide her students with what they are trying to play. She started the studio when all the covid crap happened and got laid off from her corporate job. Then she kicked cancer's ass. It went from 13 students to 50 in less than a year. It's so cool to hear these kids progressing.
I stumbled across this video quite a few years ago, and my reaction was very much like yours. I bet I played it 20 times that night, and every year when school starts, I post the video on my timeline to get the message across to KEEP MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS!! Without teachers and someone like O'Keefe foundation, it's so much harder for kids like this to get the recognition they deserve. I have also seen the local Chicago based School of Rock perform and they are all amazing musicians. I appreciated your raw reaction to these kids, it was true to life! Keep on rockin!!
They range from 8 to 18, the singer is 12. This was 2012. You're right about the old days. In high school I wanted to be a bass player (which I did on my own) but music had nothing for me except trumpet, sax, and flute. When I heard the music they were working on I laughed and was glad. I was playing hard rock Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and they were playing crap from the 1940's
You can just see Fischtank thinking back to his youth and wondering what could have been. Fantastic reaction my guy. Their version of Sober is great as well. Same singer but she's like 4 or 5 years older. Great shit man.
Bro, I loved watching you watch this. I went through the song exactly the way you did. And I had to play the F ing clarinet in school...til I found the guitar. ✌️
Dude. I played drums and I could freaking smokem’. I quit band my senior year from boredom and moved on to a couple bands. Like you. Wish I had a opportunity like these kids!!!!
I believe that girl was 10 at the time! 🔥 I (as a drummer all my life), would've killed to be in a professional studio with professional instruments.... instead of a playground or park for sure! 😆🤘
yeah, this was a amazing cover song from this Kids. the Leadsinger is Kala Rose , that time 11 years old. This Video is coming 2013!. now he have her own Band names " Saving Escape" . the drummer was Curtis Moss, that time 13. At this Time make her study. They all was Educated at the O`keefe Foundation
When I was in band in middle school we got to play 25 and 6 to 4 by Chicago, I will never forget the feeling playing that! When my son was in high school, they played Crazy Train, you could see and feel the energy change with the kids, it was so cool! So I agree, play more of this in band!
Dear Fischtank Productions, I love this song, I loved your reaction video, and as a kid you deserved the same opportunities these kids from 2012 got. I am sorry that you didn't. I'm not a musician, so I can't relate directly, but I used to hate reading until I read science fiction, and I turned it into a degree and a career.
This is in my #UpliftingInspiration playlist & gets played on the regular. Tis indeed a thing of joy. :) For a bunch of teenagers to pull this off is properly o_O And props obviously to the engineering & production guys to capture this, & mix & master so well to come up with a polished end result. The teen drummer tho, getting the spirit of the thing so close to what Danny does in the original, trying his arse off while obviously close to his physical limits at the time.... what an absolute #SpiritAnimal !! :)
Agree with everything you said. I quite like some classical now, but when I was at school I was listening to Zeppelin, Hendrix, etc. so the music lessons put me off learning rather than encouraging me. Also we had a creepy music teacher, which didn't help, but that's a story for another day!
This is gonna blow your mind. In 2013 when this was recorded, the vocalist was 12 and the rest of the kids were between 13 and 16... Although I don't believe the little kid with the glasses is over 10
I was made to play the piano as a kid (my dad was a decent pianist) up to grade5 and I really didn't like it. Piano music does not have enough drums in it. If someone had given me a drumkit I'd still be playing music now. So yes - let them play what they want - it'll be a lot more effective.
I totally totally agree with you. I have watched this video over and over. Yes, our music schools need to do this. I agree, we will have better music and better children.
I've listened to several videos these kids have done. Kala is certainly the most impressive vocally. But I find just about all of these kids amazing. It takes time to learn to play instruments well.
I think it's better than the original song. I saw their video about 3 or so years ago. I was blown away. The Okeefe Foundation have other great songs by kids. You should check them out. 7-16-2023. I agree they need to teach this in regular school bands!! They could charge for concerts and get a lot more interest and get more fundraising help. Check out their cover of You Could Be Mine by Guns N Roses!!
That drummer at his age and me at his age would have been equals, DAMN I wish I had done what Danny did and not what Steve Asheim did. Long Live My Heros, Danny Carey, Donald Tardy, and Stewart Copeland!
Damn those kids have chops! Great video, great cause. Support the channel and smash the like and subscribe people. 🤟
Love seeing you guys reaction to these kids especially the look on your faces when the vocals come in
Everybody underrated the piano. What a cool idea. It is so soft in a hard song.

Wow what an amazing story.. can you find me on Instagram (link in description) and message me?
a bit late but fuck cancer. always gets me emotional to hear a fellow survivor doing good.

This is PRICELESS.. Every child should exercise this type of creativity, Honestly..

Kayla, the singer here, was 12 when she sang this. The O'Keefe Music Foundation is open to kids 6/8-18.
Kala.

There’s a video of a high school band doing some Rage Against the Machine, now that’s a cool band teacher.

Extrem great reaction. Absolutely agree with you.
Thank you!! 😊

Was going to say Amahjra cover this song
and her last video with Saving Escape ruclips.net/video/S3mHQgFqo2c/видео.html
Yeah, if my school had had a band class like this, I might have stuck with band. I was assigned to the xylophone, however . . .
I feel the pain brotha
Bro, if you havent already, watch their cover of sober, the same girl does the vocals.
I've listened to several videos these kids have done. Kala is certainly the most impressive vocally. But I find just about all of these kids amazing. It takes time to learn to play instruments well.
Zoe also is amazing, she did the vocals for freak on a leash by Korn.
I enjoyed your reaction as much as I enjoyed the song.
Makes the hairs on my arms pop my dude! 😎🤙🤙
Great reaction!
