Finally a Jackson with Stainless Steel Frets. This guitar ticks all of the metal boxes. I would only take out the tone pot and move that volume away from near the bridge pickup. Then place a killswitch button where the volume was. Expensive? Yes! Expected? Also Yes!
anything "modern" near the 2k mark should have stainless. if it's "vintage" i guess you can argue they can be nickle, but anything that expensive not pretending to be vintage needs stainless.
@@mariek6993 I totally agree. Any pro series or above from Jackson always disappointed me about having nickel frets. I was about to buys a Pro Series at one point but hesitated until I heard back from Jackson that the fret were nickel. I took it right out of the cart.
bought my Charvel/Jackson 475 Deluxe LTD Edition Black/Silver Crackle finish in 1989..... been my mainstay guitar since and used on all tours - love it to this day... no other guitar can beat the neck... you can work on this neck as in allows for serious playing... another note it NEVER goes out of tune even with the floating bridge and wammy
Right on, I'm a '91 Dinky original owner, it's not in original condition, but neither am I. It'l be mine until I'm gone, for the exact reasons you mention!
The army green fixed bridge version is on my short list. I'm super happy with the Hipshot fixed option and the use of EMG's. Although I will switch the pickup positions as I prefer the 85 in the bridge pisition.
@@Dan_Ranger, It definitely has a certain thickness to it that really works for bridge position rhythm work. And I even like it for a bridge position lead tone. It doesn't get thin like an 81 can.
Marty Friedman was the guy that made me buying a Jackson Dinky Pro back in 1994. Endured to this days. Still plays so amazing! Jackson and Charvel brands, now in the hands of Fender, are getting better and better and better. Very good axe! EMG...for those hatters...Try those in real scenario and forget names and if it is active or passive. Just try and play well. These pickups are a part of music history. Enjoy! If I had the money I'd buy...yesterday!
I have a Jackson SL2Q, mahogany body, maple neck thru, ebony fretboard, Floyd 1000, Duncan Distortions (Which I hate, getting swapped out soon. Its been years now.), Winterstorm quilted maple, completely bound in black, Jackson hard case included, Made in Indonesia.. $999 USD (Sweetwater Sound). PHENOMINAL guitar!!
I've got an Indonesian Soloist and it is easily one of the coolest guitars I own. But then all of my guitars are one of the coolest guitars I own too. 😄 Love the Bolt Thrower shirt. I have to have one!
I don't even like orange but that guitar is a real beaut and sounds just as great. Always liked the look of Jacksons. Plan on getting one of those in the near future. Thanks for the demo, Ola!
I grabbed an army green fixed bridge, and I am very happy to report that the nut is properly slotted to compensate for string break angle. It is slotted on an angle to match the individual string break angles. Tuning stability is very good.
I got a new Jackson Pro Plus DKA 3 weeks ago in the Metallic Black with the SS frets and I like it even more than my mid 2000 Made In USA HSS Soloist.. I wasn't even going to play it today but after watching this you know the deal. Thats a kick ass color Ola and excellent playing as always !
Played one of these at the store the other week. I wanted to love the SL3, I love HSS, but I didn't really like playing any. This on the other hand felt incredible, not sure if it was just the setup or what. The finish is also way cooler in person for the lambo color.
I just got the a2.6 neon orange i love it few adjustments were made to the neck and saddle but overall looks great please make more neon orange never in stock people love it
I don’t see any reason why they can’t get an original Floyd on that thing for that price…… Somehow ESP does it on the Eii’s and they’re in the same price point. I paid less for a USA select SL2 that absolutely blows that guitar away, has an original Floyd and a flame maple top. At least they added stainless frets with this iteration I guess.
The way I decide what actives to put im my guitars depends on the tuning I play on that guitar....anything over a Drop D I go with EMG 81 for the great low end....anthing C# or lower I use Fishman Moderns for that insane mid range because I think they severely lack in low end fq
OLA what are you using for sounds? Fractal? thanks man..great meeting you at NAMM - - $2,500 - approx - US $ - TOTALLY worth it... I bought 2 GJ2 guitars (Grover Jackson. aka...Jackson) for $2,000 - Currently priced at $7,500. an SL2H I almost bought 10 years ago for $1,500 is now priced at over $3,500.. but it's not how much they appreciate ( although we can all appreciate that) they're true quality guitars. you mentioned they're out of the custom shop in Corona, CA - they should print ' made in usa' like they used to..but, it's fender..so what can you do. I've ALWAYS loved the SL2H's...not familiar with the MG -
Hey Ola, when you compare it with Virtuoso that you reviewed, is there a very big difference ? What is your opinion there? Thanks again for the review. 🙂
Well, it is expensive indeed! For what seems to be a fairly ordinary looking axe. I guess it is always down to personal preference and a neck through is always dearer but.....for that price you can get a lot more of a guitar from other brands, same, or better, specs and a figured top to finish it off. Nice demo bro 🤟👽
I don't know man my stepdad has a 85 in the bridge of his 1991 mij soloist XL professional and it sounds pretty freaking sweet! I have an 81 in my bridge of my Indonesian soloist SL3Q-MAH, and I don't know man it sounds much thinner. I think I prefer my stepdad's 85 in the bridge position. I get it the 81 cuts through the mix fucking awesome especially on solos. But for heavy chugs that 85 and his guitar is just something Godly
At today's price points for a U.S. made guitar of that quality $2600 is not that bad...... Deans US custom shop guitars are 4k and Dean Zelinskys new line of Dime Guitars are gonna be $6500 for the US custom shops.....
That guitar, even though high priced, is just one of many reasons that Jackson will keep kicking. When everyone else has jumped on the fucking Fluence bandwagon, there a TON of us that are EMG loyalists.
This IS an expensive guitar indeed... but it's also SWEET as hell
Sometimes you get what you pay for. Thats why I rock Solar, Epiphone, and Jackson. I like value for the buck. Jackson’s never disappoints.
@@aaronhiggs Schecter is another brand that's a bang for the buck.
I picked one up for myself, what an excellent instrument. High quality and very much worth the cost!

That orange color is sooo vibrant and pretty. Great review, Ola.
i've been playing jackson for as long as i can remember, and they are just getting better and better!!!! Jackson for life!!!!

This Lambo Orange is amazing. Jackson is back with great guitars 👏
Solar needs more EMG-equipped guitars. There's quite a number of us that like actives but don't like the Fishmans.
Here here! I have an EMG 81 and 85 equipped Ibanez RGT6EXFX. Love em'
@@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams One of my favorite Ibanez models, I have two. Don't seem them being talked about very often
Guitar looks and sounds F'ing killer. Those EMG's thump ! Great demo Ola .
Cool guitar. Love the color options. but $2600 is way too much. Without a hardcase? Pffft.
Dude, that opening riff was sick!
So glad to see EMGS again !
Thanks, Ola. I honestly was ogling the green hardtail, but that orange is growing on me as well.
I have the old made in japan version sl2 with sd pickups and its badass.. jacksons rock

Jackson are very nice usually, not seen the new ones but have a RR1 USA from the 1990's and a Custom Shop V String bass both are real gems.
The army green fixed bridge version is on my short list. I'm super happy with the Hipshot fixed option and the use of EMG's. Although I will switch the pickup positions as I prefer the 85 in the bridge pisition.
85 in the bridge in all my guitars. So underrated in that position.
@@Dan_Ranger, I think it's the biggest inside secret with EMG pickups. The 85 in the bridge is bad ass.
@@BazonBladesAgreed. In a live setting it’s like a JB on steroids. Good enough for early Killswitch and Andy James. Reb Beach still using it 💪
@@Dan_Ranger, It definitely has a certain thickness to it that really works for bridge position rhythm work. And I even like it for a bridge position lead tone. It doesn't get thin like an 81 can.
Don't get an hardtail Jackson, it will have horrible tuning stability because of the very angled strings on the nut.
The guitar is slick...although it's expensive. I'd buy one. love the riff Ola..awesome video as always

The lack of binding and price 😢

I had never been a Jackson fan before. I now must have have this guitar! Wow unreal! Nice work Ola and what a killer looking and sounding guitar
Nobody looks at the comments a half year later. ... I bought this model recently. Ola is dead on with his review. Sick guitar.
Hell yeah - just ordered HT in black for $1,800.00 - stoked on a good price
I think I would prefer richlite fretboards on these. I just love the look of the shark inlays on a jet-black fretboard.
I have the American Series Soloist SL2MG HT in matte army drab ordered. Looking forward to playing it!
I bought the same one almost a week ago. You are going to absolutely love that guitar.
The best colour. Just don't play it outside, you might lose it. Dad joke
The Jackson headstock are really bad without locking nut though, way too much angle on the first strings.
Come on Jackson! At that price we need a Floyd Original!
And the Jackson hard case!!
That color is god tier
Man! This color reminds me of 80s glam metal bands. LOL. What an amazing guitar!
Remember ' Racer X'
That tone is brutal
Awesome demo as always ola.

Давай одну из них менять на мой Ibanez RG2520 Prestige Made in Japan с пассивными EMG?) Я тоже очень хочу Jackson🙏🏼
It looks great. VIBRANT is the word.
Id love a Type V or X in that color
Great review Ola, however those string angles are not as much of a problem for tuning stability IF the nut is properly filed and make of good material

Great demo!!!! Superb player!!! Is this a song of yours? I loved it!!!!❤
Expensive as hell.
Yeah, I'll definitely be getting the matte black one.
jackson should have more reverse headstock.
That’s why I picked up a dk3xr. I love that reverse headstock. It’s sick.
I highly agree
Yes !
Dinkys have more reversed headstocks. This is a soloist which most of them would be customs to have a reversed stock.
While I agree with you, I think Jackson's headstock looks almost equally amazing whether headstock is normal or reversed.

To be honest I would love to buy a Solar X-Series in classic gloss black, Floyd Rose and EMGs - could be also the passiv HZ H4, it doesn't matter!
Costs over 2 grand and comes with a Korean Floyd.
Sure Jackson......
I'll rather get a Vola Aries or an Ibanez RG550 Genesis.
Slaying it Ola!
I like what Jackson is doing unlike Ibanez . They still stick to their roots but still go modern but not overboard
i love Jackson's ! good review
