  • Week 24 explores a small Pentecostal church which hosted Joan Hunter, described as "Carol Burnett with the anointing of Jesus." With 170,000 Facebook followers and hundreds of Amazon 5-star reviews for her books, her social media proof is substantial.
Despite terrible dance attempts in the video, David navigates his thoughts on what a healing service that mixed prosperity talk with the needed power of prayer.

I have witnessed the Lord bless one person at the request of another to take their suffering.
This is absolutely a prayer that the Lord is pleased with.
To see someone so selfless to take another's pain, other than to give your life willingly, there is no greater act that a person can preform.
    Ask any soldier.

Lol I was already boppin' my head to the music then the screen switches to you boogyin' down in your car hahaha. The compassion you have for people and the faith you have in Jesus is evident. Thank you for sharing these!

Catchy beat, right?! Appreciate it, this was tough to navigate with the monetary undertones, but the pain in people's eyes showed how deeply we all can be hurting inside. Only Christ can understand it all.

We can be “unbiased” and still proclaim the truth of the Bible that the unadulterated Gospel is NOT the prosperity gospel that many Pentecostals proclaim. Graciousness is to be valued, but warning against false teachers is a huge part of the Bible. I’m glad you said what you said - I feel like you can contend for the faith even more. 😀

Trying! Last spotting was in front of Week 22's viking church. Haven't seen one since. Think they've migrated by now. I'm hoping to travel south for some churches, who knows if I might see another there.

"Excited and ready"--gotta say, doesn't sound like the Spirit to me. What it does sound like is "Effective Marketing", because thats exactly what gets people effective and ready to purchase whatever that thing is. God does not, and never has, been a vending machine, at least not in the way the Pentecolstalists believe or want him to be.

Exactly, was hook-line-sinker at that time. For that particular prosperity gospel megachurch, the timing of the offering (along with the reaction of the wife sitting next to me) didn't feel right.

Great video as always David. I enjoy going on this adventure with you even though I’m thousand of miles away. I’m intrigued by the way that Jesus captures the hearts of so many. I love your genuine intent in exploring other churches and not from a stand point to critique but to find Christ and to seek a deeper and richer relationship with him in whatever form He manifests himself. Christ surely knows us and meets us where we are and is able to communicate directly and clearly to our specific spirit. You clearly have deep trust in Christ and a discerning spirit.
I chuckled with the celestial sugar daddy comment not to identify that with one particular denomination but with how God can be seen as a source of giving what mankind wants when and how they want it. For me my faith in Christ is enough! He knows and loves me. My journey needs to be with Him and therefore will not always appear as significant, worthwhile and fulfilling to a societal perspective. But knowing that God’s ways are not my ways and God’s thoughts are not my thoughts gives me strength. Christ takes our burdens and gives us peace as we trust him.
Miracles are real! There is a lot I could say on this. Read Moroni 7 page 521. Often for me the miracle is not that something to removed or resolved the miracle is that Christ shows up and walks with me and therefore I come to know him more richly and trust in his love and power in my life.

Gotta say that I love the music! 🎉 I’m so surprised that you are an introvert. I love Pentecostal churches and their on 🔥🔥🔥 excitement for the works of the Lord. When I go to some churches I just think “man people we have got a lot to be excited about and you look bored to death in your seats”. I guess we all worship in a way that suits our energy. Appreciate the balanced insight you always give. That’s a gift that many people can not master. This video made me choke up in tears at the end. ❤

Gotta be boppin' for this one. Think doing this, it's getting me outside my introvert shell quite a bit. I hear what you're saying on the worship excitement - some are excited (which we should be!), yet at the same time - one may not want to draw attention to oneself. Either way, the energy within this congregation was fun to witness.

Be a prophet. After her pastor introduced him, this man began wandering around the chapel and started prophesying. He'd say someone in the congregation was having problems with their liver, kidney, stomach, spleen etc. Pick an organ or illness. Then said they would be cured. Then he stopped where my friend was sitting and said that there was someone who was having problems with their colon, that they had, had problems with it for a very long time and caused them a lot of pain. My friend was shocked because she has always had problems with her colon. She has ulcerative colitis and meds don't help much. He said they would be cured and live free from it. Then he moved on. It wasn't until later that evening that she noticed she wasn't having any pain from her colon. All of her colon problems were gone. I didn't say anything about him, but was glad her colon problems were gone. Much to her disappointment and dismay about four months later her colitis and the rest of the miserable symptoms that had plagued her came back, even worse than before. We are taught to beware of false prophets. She ran head long into one. Follow the Cardinal.💞

I believe in prayer one hundred percent.
Healers rub me the wrong way though because one the money part. Two the spectacle or performance they put on when they heal. Three, how did they receive the authority to access to God's power? Did they just decide they are healers one day? What right do they have to act for God?

If prospering me will advance the kingdom then so be it. If grinding me to powder will, then so be it. Yah's will be done. If Yah wants to open doors, that no man can shut, then great. If not, I'll praise Him in the hallway. Yah absolutely can heal. I've witnessed it. In other circumstances the illness has a purpose. Like bringing us closer to Him. Our strength is in our weakness. Yah is our helper. Interesting experiences. One thing I like about pentecostals is they don't sit around like lumps on a log. We should put energy and enthusiasm into our worship. David did cartwheels.

    John 14:13-14
13And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
There is truth in Prosperity doctrine. Jesus' own words.
now does this mean it can be taken to the extreme or not? I don't know.
What does it mean to ask in Jesus' name? it means to ask in proxy. to do this, obviously you need to have received the LORD.
