What if you followed what she does in the video but also tie the tails of the yarn together? I’m not sure how it would work but it might add a little extra comfort since the knot would still be there but hidden and secured with the technique used in the video. I haven’t switched colours much when crocheting and haven’t crocheted in a little while but definitely want to start again soon. I’m definitely the same way though, I tie knots whenever I’m worried about how a yarn project will hold together (knitting, crocheting, etc).
Good 😆 better than hours of work to get oofed in the wash. The only thing that that would be a good idea with is wool because it felts to itself and makes a fleece.
I have used this method forever, however, I fold the “tails” up and over the new yarn BEFORE make the single chain. Then I continue on just as you showed. It does save A LOT of time
I can tell you that I used to do that with the ends but as a crocheted for almost 50 yrs now I can also tell you that the ends can and a lot of times do come out.
I have been crocheting for 3 year. But I've never had the patience to crochet something big and I've kind of quit over time. But I've been watching your Temperature blanket series and it inspired me to to start crocheting again. I hope to start a bigger project soon. And maybe next year I will start a tempature blanket. Thank you! I love your channel!
Just a thought. Perhaps try a blanket/ throw made from simple squares, like a Granny pattern. It may not seem so daunting. Good luck. And you can do it! 😀
I learned to crochet when I was maybe like 9 years old. Finally made a large item (a blanket), because I bought super bulky yarn so it worked up faster and felt more satisfying to see it grow quickly 😂
My great grandma taught me to crochet when I was around 8. I crochet to this day and I have NEVER seen a color transitioning so clean. 😭 I do this complicated way. This is so much better.
i have been knitting my whole life and recently crocheting and i have always just cut the old color and tied on a new one! super easy and no one can tell.
Lmao, I never could figure out YT tutorials about changing colors so I just winged it and did what seemed like common sense and since it worked I just kept doing it, I’m happy to know I was doing it right even if I had to figure it out myself.
Wow! I’ve been crocheting for a few years now and never touched color changing because it looked too complicated. Thank you so much for making my life better!
@@purelightapologetics4930 nah man you should have seen my knots because i wanted to be fancy and do a 30 stitch wide scarf with 6.5mm yarn nah man you aint getting that out of one skein
I forget where I originally learned that technique but that's how I do it to I makes changing colors so much easier and I love being able to crochet around the tails so I don't have to go back and try to weave them in later, because that was always kind of hard for me
Those ends are not secure. You must "weave" in your ends back and forth. These will work their way loose and leave holes as the blanket gets used and washed ✌️❤️😊
I don't really understand how to weave in ends. Your comment has helped a bit. But I did realize myself that this is not the way to go because of exactly what you said the ends just come out.
You're energy is always so positive and your voice is so calming to me, and I just feel like you'd be awesome to be friends with! I'm so glad i found you to learn from!
I was I Tennessee The week before the heat advisory and my family keeps saying if we came a week later we would be going the the water park at Dollywood instead of the park
I always tie a knot before I crochet over my ends. I had a blanket come out of the wash with an end undone and unraveled about 6 rows once. After that I ALWAYS tie a knot. It works the same, you just tie a small knot before you work over the ends. :)
I use this same technique, although I leave the tails a bit longer. I usually crochet them into the row for about 10 stitches and then weave the tail back on itself twice. This ensures the yarn goes a different direction 3 times so it won’t come out. Tedious, but I’ve never had a project unravel doing it this way. Crocheting it into the row the first time just saves you from weaving it once.
i have been crocheting for a while and i never use knots, its not necessary, i recommend leaving a long tail and weaving it through your work, if you just crochet over them it will come apart, hope you enjoy your day and crochet
I ❤️ that you share this technique with everyone because I've used it for years and never had issues with it ever coming out! Short, to the point, and easy! Love it keep doing what you're doing! 👏 🥳
I would throw just a quick little double knot on there, and I do because I've had projects come apart like this because just weaving in those ends isn't going to necessarily secure it enough to prevent that from unraveling. Especially if it's a blanket or something that you've told the person they can wash in a machine, even on delicate
My Uncle used to make amazing blankets with a ton of different colors like that... he taught me the basics of crochet and knitting but this was one of the things that was always a mystery to me.
This is the first time I have ever seen anyone work/weave in their ends the way I do! And it’s so effective! I’ve never had any problems with it in over 20 years of crocheting
I can’t wait till my stitches look nice. It’s day three of learning and they don’t look bad but definitely uneven. I think I finally figured out the best way for me to keep my yarn taught.
I always forget about crochet during the year then get back into it during the holidays to make gifts for people. I really appreciate quick, to-the-point videos like this because I can't be watching a thirteen minute video of something i just need a refresher for. Thank uuu
This lady is AMAZING I’m a beginner at crochet and currently making a blanket this was my first time learning how to change colours and I did it first try thanks so much
Ever since I learned that trick of crocheting in your ends instead of saving it till later it makes me less nervous about doing projects that use color changes
I really appreciate that you make these videos. Without them idk how I'd learn so thank you so much!!! Know someone out there watches and appreciates 🙏🥰

Although I knew this, thanks for telling me that I can crochet around the tails so that I won't have to weave it again later! This definitely saves time!

You’re the only one who has helped me understand how to change a color. I’ve been cutting them and then tying a knot at the end 🤦🏼♀️
Same this is way cleaner
it's a good idea to tie it so it's more secure but it might unravel if it's cut too short. you can always tie a knot and still crochet the ends in

Another tip to add to this: for extra security, you can tie those 2 ends together with a single knot before weaving them in
I was thinking the same thing. Better safe then sorry .
@@liviapopsor8242 especially on projects when your switching frequently, id be scared of the integrity of it

I'm sitting on an afghan currently coming apart. It happens. Even with 30 years experience.
I tie a knot out of an abundance of caution, but I don't get unhealthy about it. lol
Whenever I change colours in my projects I tie the ends together so it doesn’t fall apart cuz I’m very anxious about my work coming undone lol
Me too!
Same. I'm also lazy so I just keep going after I run out of a yarn color.

Her short ends were actually giving me anxiety lol I need them long to ensure it doesn't get loose.

Agreed. Used this method on a blanket for my mom and all the ends are poking through. It’s annoying to weave but it’s well worth it.
Completely true. Those ends are going to come loose and a lot of work will be lost. Not leaving the tails long enough either.
