Any difference between this Cali76 Compact Bass and the previous model that I own? Other than the nifty LED level indicator?

I think they said that the tone is more akin to the large Cali compressor, and that it has a smaller footprint????
p.s. Also there should be more headroom for the new model.

Apart from the HPF knob and the combined Attack/Release knob, are there any differences between the two? Could both be used for bass and guitar?

Aside from that. They're basically the same compressor. Choose the model that has the features you desire, both work great on all sorts of instruments.

Is there any difference in the EQ/threshold/ratio of the bass model vs the standard? If I prefer the simplicity of the attack/release being on one knob and play in tunings lower than standard, would I be making a mistake trying to use the bass version on guitar? Seems like I’d be gaining the HPF and not really losing anything.

They're basically the same compressor, they mainly differ in control set. Choose the one with the features you want, and use it on whatever source.
